If Gino's biggest issue with Paige is that she's sometimes TOO selfless, I think she'll be all right.
She will be fine playing too selflessly. The team? Not so much.

Best player in women's NCAA ball.
She is the best guard they have had since I have watched them religiously in the last 5 years. As a freshman no less. She didn't have a great game here either. Should have had about 26 easily, even more if not so unselfish. Her unselfishness has made her a great passer, but she does pass a lot when the better option is her shooting. That is a high class problem for Gino. When she makes the adjustment and finds the balance, forget about it. Mid twenties every game and more assists. So, so, so, special.
She is up there already, but to early to tell. Crystal D was outstanding and I can't wait to see how she handle Baylor
CP3 was the same way in his early years.
she will be the face of the wnba when she gets there, she has a good coach teaching her how to really run the team; and know when to take over. her vision is excellent; and she has quickness and decisiveness that i really have't seen in womens basketball... she can get 30 points 15 assists as an avg,,,

There's like five women in the history of basketball I enjoyed watching play, and she's one.
Geno's doing this tough on Paige act. He barks at Paige to humble the star freshman but he's to egotistical to admit she already is humble and she basically could run this team without him. I mean that. Her instincts on the court make all her teammates better. She's not the tallest, not the fastest, not the most athletic. But neither was Gretzky.
I can tell you just watch highlights and don't watch full games or interviews. He yells at her because he actually wants her to shoot more but she keeps passing up open shots which results in turnovers he's trying to make her be more aggressive. It has nothing to do with being humble.
@@kingyami2294 In this instance, he's barking at her for being too passive. She's intelligent enough to understand this point without being berated publicly. It seems unneccessary to yell at someone for having too much of a good quality (sharing the ball) vs too much of a bad quality. I'm not saying that barking at a player is always wrong. Sometimes a player needs a figuritive kick in the butt. I don't find Geno particularly likable in his post game interviews. He has an air about him.That's just what I see and the vibe he gives off in the post game pressers.
@@cozyslor It's the way he's always been and it's part of the reason he keeps getting recruits to go there. The players know what they are getting into when they go there and it gets results just look around the wnba and the Olympics. You don't have to like him the only thing that matters is what the players think of him and they love the guy.
@@kingyami2294 Your reply doesn't really speak to my comment. I'm referring to a specific incident in this game. I assume most players are familiar with the type of coach and brand of bball each school offers. As far as recruiting, it's just not as competitive as in the men's game. You can only be visible at a limited number of schools in the women's game. And, the talent dispersion is much greater as well. Lastly, I'm just making a personal observation of Geno (I'm sure I'm not alone). I never said he needs to be likable nor that his players don't like him. In a nutshell, all I said was that incident was unnecessary and Geno sometimes comes off as an egotistical prick.
She is literally seeing the game faster and at a higher level then her coach. It’s wild that I’m watching this man trying to get her to make the worse play in order to score more lol.

I think Geno is ..on the whole..very happy with Paige's play...hey, she is great! Geno, of all coaches, knows great when he sees it. Go Nelly O...you go girl! That was a strong finish!

I don't see how Paige and Azzi Fudd coexist next year and beyond. Best friends, Paige is an offensive-minded PG (even though she passes).

Paige looks like she's worked on her legs and has a good base for being a consistent shooter. The upper body will get stronger over time.

Hello...it's me again...the resident Paige critic...well, kinda...like you all, I agree her game is off the charts good...handle, 3 ball, mid range, vision...BUT, and I have said this before, I have yet to see: on ball defending, played physical with a like sized athlete, post defense...and now, the real schedule starts...UConn has to see Tennessee, Louisville and South Carolina...
If UCONN taught reverse layups they'd be lethal.
