Unbelievable...I've just found this. This was recorded at The Hammersmith Odeon in London Nov 1980 . I know , I was there...Thank you...(Alex was off his face)
I saw Cheap Trick in a little bar in Champaign, IL called the Red Lion before they hit. The place seated 200 max and the stage was a couple of sheets of 3/4" plywood nailed to 2x4s.

The sensational Alex, sounds like he’s the coalman out in the street, shouting a slogan up a close and rockin the fuck out the place all at the same time. Privileged to have seen him with SAHB a few times and once with the new band (Mafia stole my guitar album tour), unforgettable, magic memories. He had a dog called ‘Hey You’, wonder what it was like when he shouted on him.
Six months before punk hit, Alex did an interview with CSM in the NME when he predicted punk. They reprinted it later. First group I ever saw on the Next tour. Gone too soon but not forgotten.
It wasn't rehearsed. They found him in the bar and brought him on stage for an impromptu number. He spent the first 3 minutes retuning the guitar. Which is why it doesn't go straight into the song.
That sucked. That dude can't sing at all. Should have let Robin sing the damn song. But it's nice to hear cheap trick jam either way but it would have been nice if they would have made the necessary q stops. 🙋
@@anfrankogezamartincic1161 I know who the hell he is. I don't know much about what else he does but I know from what I saw the guy cannot sing but he thinks he can. There is a lot of people like that and they are successful. If you like to listen to people that can't sing then that's fine but I could think of better people to listen to especially when Robin Xander is right there. 🤡
@TUbIuyola Chris . Not Karen. If you get your GED then maybe you can learn to read and you can see my name printed above. You can get a GED online now for only $35. If you start saving now you might have enough money by Christmas. Best of luck to you. 🙋

Yeah l didn't know about him. Now l listen to a lot of his music. Just great. Reminds me in a way of Johnny Thunders.
It never, never, never gets old. Glorious Melody. Just sit back and listen. 😎🎼
Oh man that was brilliant. Band brilliant and Alex Harvey brilliant and very cool.
Love that rocking background but Alex was made to be SEEN!

Seen him in 1965 i think in Glasgow, wild wild man, great music
Alex Harvey absolutely has to have been an influence on Bon Scott's singing style...
I think Bon said Alex was his hero
good call. you're right
No bout a doubt it.
God.....Alex AND Cheap Trick??? No way.......
Chaotic brilliance!
Sloppy but...hell...THIS IS R & R !!!
Lol "new man on the scene", Alex was rockin' long before cheap trick were born.

Ahhhh, if only Alex and Frank coulda!
My God! Yes!!!
Oh ! Génial !
maybe the bar was Waverly Beach in Beloit Wisconsin circa 1970
Song starts at about 3 minutes.
That Rocks 😅
New on the scene! What was that all about? lol
I think Rick meant that ironically.
Was this the precursor to Punk?
Absolutely Alex was also the grandfather of punk!
Six months before punk hit, Alex did an interview with CSM in the NME when he predicted punk. They reprinted it later. First group I ever saw on the Next tour. Gone too soon but not forgotten.
If you find the original by Johnny Kidd and listen to the b side Yes sir thats my baby, from 1960 you will have heard a forerunner to punk.
New on the scene ???
He should of been BLUE ANGEL MC.
