And current limiting? It's not a charger without current limiting! It's just a adjustable power supply.
Without current limiting its a disaster waiting to happen esp when using as a lithium pack charger
Cool idea, but you have a limited voltage range and no current control. It would be better idea to keep the original charger and hook up one of those buck/boost converters, then you'll have everything in the control and no danger of mains voltage.
Totally agreed
dont forget the thumb nail, charging a 18650 cell at 12V+ and 8A, lmao.
The speed and ease witch which you solder is amazing!
sebagai orang awam, konsep yang disampaikan mudah untuk dipahami.
saya sangat tertarik untuk mencobanya

Pro tip, if you random charge 12V lead acid batteries, charge them at 14.4V @ 10% total current rating with 2 diodes(rated fot 600V@10A) for reverse voltage protection, at a certain point of charging the battery will start to leak voltage back into the charger and overheat the charger or damage the charger. The diodes will get a bit warm but that's expected.
Это кто такое советует? Никуда там ток обратно течь не будет
а в розетку ?
а потом в подстанцию а там и электростанция недалеко... атомная -
так мы и добрались до термоядерного синтеза )))))@@Andrey_Kirich

That's really great thanks.
But I've a question. Can you remove the short-circuit protection from the charger and use this as adc power supply?
Great project brother, it will be very useful for the winter months to charge vehicle batteries 😅
Craftmanship at best ✌️
Thank you Brother🙂🤝❤️❤️❤️
Without a current limit it is very dangerous, you cannot charge a 7.2Ah lead battery with a current of 3.5A :-/ and the voltage should be higher than 12.6V
норм видос ! без лишней воды ))
nice job and good idea. I would have left the ferrite bead on the end of the cable for noise reduction. These switching supplies are very RF hostile. I am going to convert a couple and keep the coaxial connector at the end with the ferrite and make up a few different adaptor cables with alligator clips, Anderson power poles, etc.
You have fallen for the common misconception that the thing you plug your phone or laptop into is a “charger”. It’s not. It’s a 5V or 19.2V power supply. The”charger” is in the phone or laptop. Adjusting the voltage doesn’t somehow magically turn it into a “charger”. It is simply a variable power supply.
Can u please explain this?
So what happens when we charge ordinary batteries?
@@chidilamberto3353 the “charger” is designed to sense when the battery is full and stop shoving charge into it. Different battery chemistries require different techniques to detect when they are full.
@@chidilamberto3353 ordinary?????
Very neat project brother 🙏🙏🆒
Thank you my Friend🙂🤝
A brick power supply "with screws"? Nice find! :O) Good job. Thanks for the video.
The easiest thing to do is to find such a good donor)
Buen y excelente pero con otro tipo de cargador como sabré hacer lo que haces así con este que le agregaste los demás circuitos
Great, a battery charger without any charging control, and it never explains how to find that resistor that replaces
hey it's super easy. Just try another resistor parallel with the other 200 tiny resistors on the board. 😂
I want to get a voltage of 21 volts. What is the value of the (fixed) resistance
This is not charger. Only power supply with voltage regulation. :(
Most boards "know" how to charge lithium batteries

The thumbnail is a 18650 cell, why did you not show this charging at 8 amps and 12V+? lmao!
I really like how you made the supply unsafe with the isolation distance violation.
the isolation distance is not violated as the wires are insulated and distant enough.
@@Nilmoy you clearly dont understand correct isolation, at 4:45 you clearly violate the 8mm distance required.
@@Ozzy3333333looks ok. Not stellar, but ok. Wires are insulated. Heat sink is not live, so two layers of insulation.
@@davadoff You missed the point, the primary is not 8mm distance, if it every arced over, the output can have HV for a moment. Double insulation can help, but not in this situation as the HV just travels out the output wires
@@Ozzy3333333 those two bodge wires are glued in place not touching the HV side, so I think it’s ok.
Do you mean it breaks the creep-age distance with the glue? So it makes a bridge of sorts between HV side and isolated side.
People complaining about no current limiting, and meanwhile I charge car and motorcycle batteries with a dc stick welder 🤣
That's a adjustable constant voltage supply, not a battery charger 😥
I think you understand the difference, so why this misleading video???
LM2596 step down circuits are available, better to take charger output as input of LM2596 by rotating of potentiometer we will get required voltage.
my recommendation is don't try this this - is mains voltage it can kill you just checking voltage change with resistor is very dangerous especially "ac" part of power supply, if you really want do this with your laptop power supply just buy a buck boost coverter and hook it to charger it's much better solution, dont open your charger and play with it while plugged in like a idiot
Please any clue for your suggestion? Please I need this
You sound like a fearful person.
The lower voltage part of the circuit board is isolated from the ac main voltage :/.
@@instructoruldemeditatie2367 how ? But it still dangerous AC DC doesn't matter because Pcb board is naked
You don't know electronics....
Awesome, you have good ideas
Thank you🙂

Bought a battery charger on Amazon for 24 $ that does it all .
But where's the fun it that?
teşekkür
How do you know max voltage is 22.8v?
The easiest way to remove surface mount resistors , is to use a hot air nozzle gun ... but ... only a few have these , so the next best method is to use TWO soldering irons ( one at each end ! ) ..... ( tried - n - tested ) ..... DAVE™🛑
You can also flood them with solder using a large knife tip
One works just fine .Very easy to do.
Clickbait 👇
That’s the incorrect way to wire a potentiometer. I’m surprised no one else mention it yet.
Think about what happens if wiper doesn’t make contact (goes open circuit), which happens eventually with mechanical damage or dust getting in.
You must connect middle pin (wiper) to one of the other pins - don’t just use two pins. Which way to connect it depends on whether you want voltage to increase or decrease with clockwise turn.
This is just a variable voltage power supply. When you use this to charge your battery, if charging is completed, you have to disconnect the battery from this power supply immediately, becz this doesn't have auto cutoff, over voltage protection, reverse polarity protection.
how do you know which resistor changes the output voltage
he shows that in the video
I wanna do this for my 18.5v laptop, is this safe for charging a laptop? I need to modify my old laptop charger but it’s only 19.5, it works but triggering battery protection and not charging…
Edit: or can I do this with an old DirecTV power inserter power supply board?
your 18.5 laptop has a charger that you want to use to charge it?
@@msana4420 nvm, it was the battery's fault, i got a replacement battery, plus, i am replying on the computer i just explained on.
Nice ❤
great 👍
Why modify a perfectly good power supply when you could make a battery charger that is simply powered by this same power supply? DIY? no it's DI-Why.
There's no problem to use super glue on PCBs? I've avoided do it because I thought that could damage the tracks, I always use hot glue, but sometimes it's not a good option because I really need something "super" 😂.
Just buy a dedicated charger. Cheap as chips.
24 volt yapsam ne kadar verimli olur 2 amper kullanacağım
Can you add current regulation?
yes you can, but he did not show it here
Are the output caps rated for 22v?
If original voltage is 19.5, I guess it's okay up to 25v
No lack of current limiting makes this merely a power supply. I would not dare to charge any LiPo/Li-ion this way!
Beautiful
beautiful when your battery explodes?
No CC power?
That's a pity

Ok what song is this? I can't figure it out
bro, is it possible for the ATX series?
extremely, theres loads of videos, just search convert atx psu into benchtop variable power supply. All these require a few extra components not typically sourced from household appliances. But you can make a super simple fixed voltage psu from an atx with the 12v, 5v, and 3v that comes from the box. Search that up if that's your fancy. Can source all but the screen in everything from alarm clocks to ghetto and busted blue tooth speakers. . But who needs an externally sourced screen of you have an extra voltmeter laying around.
It also helps to purchase banana clips for easy connect and disconnect>
ALSO
If you have twp EXACT copies, I mean. Chip set and everything. You can parallel two atx to get a max of 24volts. if they aren't identical. You're going to run a major fire risk as the weaker of the two atx will be doing ALL the work
just jump the green wire to any black wire to turn on the atx supply
for what purpose

@@achv4668 fire wasn’t the best analogy, but anyway…
You can protect against over voltage damage with a diode & fuse, costing maybe $0.20 in parts. The fuse blows to prevent any real damage to the rest of the device.
Maybe your MacBook has that. The motherboard could appear completely dead but it’s an easy & very cheap fix. I guess Apple didn’t add that protection but it’s worth looking into.
