    A lil late to the party, lol
    I have one of Dan's SD2 Protos and it's a superb fixed blade defense pocket knife(3.25" blade). Yah, he also makes the bulk of DEVGRU's blades.
    Cheers🍻

    Yea index and between the middle is actually the correct form for any push dagger not that wolverine middle finger grip ppl use

    • @MC-mu3nq
      @MC-mu3nq 2 роки тому +2

      Not for any push dagger. Tops knives grim ripper needs to be held between the middle and ring for a good grip.

    Just got mine in, it's perfect. Zero slip or rotation on the grip with impact unlike that trash cold steel and benchmade are putting out. I even like this better than my GTI and mercworx .. GTI has a better blade though imo. If I had to chose just one it would be the Winkler for sure!

    Use a small piece of paracord on the sheath to make it easier to draw!

    When I've carried my Cold Steel push daggers I end up using them for utility.

    What is the MSRP and can the sheath be configured for horizontal carry?

    I still can't quite get over the fact that it's carbon steel. In my opinion such small push dagger will be carried pretty close to my body and will be exposed to moisture from sweat. It's not a big knife so I don't think the tiny extra toughness of 80crv2 makes any difference here. It's a nice design and well finished. Unfortunately, Winkler's decision to stick with the cheaper 80crv2 steel is just being greedy or lazy.

      It's not greed or laziness, Winkler feels 80CrV2 is the best steel out there to make knives from.
      He's done some blades in 3V at the request of customers. But he has stated that he believes 80CrV2 to be the best....and when he finds a better steel he'll use it.

      He mainly makes tomahawks & axes. The "left over" steel stock is then used to make fixed blade knives & smaller knives like this. It's just using "every inch" of steel stock possible, with minimal waste. That's the real reason. 80CrV2 is not the "best choice" for knives & Winkler knows. But he also doesn't want to waste anything left over after the tomahawk & axes have been laser machined out.

    Way over priced for what it is made of. Compered to Cold steel and other Knife makers out there. Don't get me wrong I have a MercWorx that cost $300. made of S30v but the steel also go's with the price. I did not carry that Push Dagger in the US it was used else were. Also If you use that in the US your not getting it back till Court is over and even then they may keep it and destroy it after the case is over. so get a Cold steel for under $50. US. for self defense In the US.

      The steel aint all, its the heat treat, i got 52100 knives from humphrey that outperforms supersteels in edge retention and sharpening

      @@xNamikazeMinatox 100%. People get hung up on these so called "super steels" to many keyboard forum warriors I guess lol. I'd take carbon over stainless any day of the week.

      Cold steel? Lmao, my friend they have nothing on anything Winkler.

    • @MC-mu3nq
      @MC-mu3nq 2 роки тому

      Cold steel makes a garbage push knife, there is no comparison. There is no reason to get a mercworx in s30v over the stainless, it's just a waste of money at that point. D2 is the the steel I would chose for this knife anything other than that or 440 would be strange. Do you think anyone is worried about getting a tool back that just saved their life? Do not get cold steel it's trash. Winkler makes the best push knife by far, this jackass David Page has obviously never held one. If you can't afford $200 on a push knife then you can't afford to own a decent push knife, get something else.

      Agreed! You can't compare Cold Steel to Winkler. Winkler's craftsmanship is truly impressive.

    You could even dress that knife up with a Dremel and maybe a few files and make it really comfortable along those sharp edges near the knuckles
