  • I bought this plane with the intention to better my FPV skills. This plane exceeded my expectations as a trainer and all around fun plane. It is stable thanks to the AS3X in very windy conditions. It takes off grass with no problem and has zero issues looping, rolling or flying inverted. I also found it was able to flat spin and inverted loop with ease. The FPV is fantastic and would be even better with better goggles.

Installing the horizontal stab carbon rod...put into one side of stab first, they have stops inside, install on vertical stab then put the other horizontal stab on. That way you don't have to measure anything.

Nice job! I had to adjust the steering push rod at the servo arm to get a straight front wheel. I love this plane even for my own enjoyment.

I hated this plane when i first got it. It needs some tweaks. 1.) At full throws servo arms push in foam causing them to fail prematurely. Cut just a small amount of foam out or they will blow out on you. 2.) In battery compartment it's easy for battery to slip back hitting rudder servo which will break it and your nose wheel. Especially if you're new and have a hard landing. I glued a little piece of ply in front of servos to block it. 3. ) if you use non smart batteries it can be difficult to fit them, it's clearly designed around their smart battery. No, horizon I'm not buying your smart batteries. 4.) Throttle response ok for a newbie but can cause some issues in an emergency situation. 5. ) motor is weak, I froze that up. No, it had nothing to do with me ripping around with a 4s :)
I swapped out motor for a EMAX ECO II Series 2306 2400Kv and I swapped prop with one of my kong quad 6045s. I would not suggest for begginers but once you can fly the additional power is seriously awesome. She will just climb straight up. I run that on 3s. I'm going to swap out the esc as well with a 40 amp but I don't need the 4s anymore with the new motor and prop combo.
I love this plane now. High wind at field? Whatever, you will see me ripping around. She will glide no problem and just sit still in a 20mph headwind. Very fun plane. Next up taking the throttle delay out and removing the landing gear.

@@JustPlaneCrazy The kit comes with velco to attach to bottom of battery to keep it in place in addition to the velcro strap.

Not sure I like that throttle response, what happens for a go around.
Nice to know you paid for the plane so it's an honest review, 👍

Thank you so much for doing this in real time...extremely helpful for a 72 year old newbie to the sport. I just picked one of these up through the suggestions of some of the pilots in the club. Will be making the maiden flight in a day or so. I do love my toys! Peace to all from S. Oregon.

Master Airscrew have a size larger 3-blades prop, 6X4.5, that put more umphhh into that aeroscout.

Great video. Just ordered my AeroScout for the very same purpose. Makes a great trainer for FPV takeoffs and landings.
