The Aeroscout is one of the best beginner planes I have tried. It's not indestructible especially if you lawn dart it but at least the motor and prop are protected being in the rear and the foam can be repaired with Foam Tac. Oh and look out for those magnetic trees :-)

Great review of a really nice model, Dave! I was thinking while watching you fly that it just begs to be FPV’d! Yup, definitely I think you should kit it up with the long range stuff!

Thanks for the vote Fergy! I will try to figure out a good FPV parts layout. It's going to be tricky on the CG because there is no room to move the battery back as it is now. The servos are in the way.

Oh it flies so good. I hope it flies as well when if I put a Radix Flight controller on it. Also it is so easy to assemble. The main wing just mounts with three thumb screws. Very well thought out design. I think it originally was the ESky Eagle plane.

Hi, great show. Do you have a camera mounted on top of it, you have a preview during the flight, or you play the movie from it at a later time. I must admit that the view from above is great, despite the small visual angle. Where can you buy such webcams, if at all possible. I hear that without the DJI Radio you have to solder on a receiver of your choice and lose some functionality as far as telemetry. Have you heard that or am I wrong? Maybe they will make the switch-over easier on V2 however DJI can be very proprietary and avoid compatibility.

Very well done video, Dave. Looks like a nice little plane. I was wondering about the video equipment you were using. What is the camera you have mounted on the wing, and how did you attach it so it wouldn't fall off? Also, what was your main camera that allowed you to follow the flight of the aircraft? Throw a quickie 600mw-ish 5.8ghz fpv setup on the canopy, because there's no realistic long-range option, as your range is limited to your Spectrum Safe receiver - why mess with the best part of the AeroScout?! - and buy a cheap PNP for an iNav long-range bird instead. My second flight tried the second safe setting and when I came in to land I flipped the switch the wrong way to full manual mode......lol when j did that the nose went down a bit so I pulled up and stabbed the throttle expecting it to level off or gain a bit off altitude cause I thought i was I full safe mode but nope.... she went straight vertical flipped over and nosed into the ground full speed. Both wings broke, tail snapped off and the speed controller is fried. Now this was completely my fault and not the planes and I would recommend it to anyone. I took off flew and landed this plane for the first time with ease. And the speed at witch it hit the ground was very high and I wouldn't have expected anything to survive that crash. Parts are also fairly priced. Whole new plane including servos minus rear tail planes is just over 160$ so ya can't wait to get er flying again.

Dave, thank you for your response. I have two drones with 4k cameras. I have also been looking at a GoPro 5. However, the AeroScout I ordered doesn't show a camera on board. Only yours seems to have a camera. Mine will be in on the 15th or so. However, I will be amazed and delighted if it has a camera. All my drones have go home feature if i lose sight or get disoriented. I would love that feature on a plane especially since it could be dangerous and problematic with the "Federalies." @@DaveMerc

I will be using this plane to learn how to fly a plane. I'm way OK with Drones but gave up planes years ago because of too many crashes. The new technology is a Godsend for me.

@@TedWoodYourMentor That's right, I stick cameras on board planes that I review usually with hook and loop. No camera comes with it. The aeroscout deosn't have a GPS or return to home either, just stabilization. It's a very good beginner plane though and I would recommend it. If you don't have an RC radio you can get the Ready to Fly version to make things easier. If you want GPS you could get this one www.horizonhobby.com/carbon-cub-s-13m-rtf-p-hbz3200

Thanks Dave. I will put that on the wish list. I will do my best to behave with the Aeroscout. I did get the RTF version with the extra alarm and extra battery.

This plane brought me many hours of joy. Until I lost it in the sun and it took a direct nose dive because I thought it was level when it was inverted. A lesson to all DONT GET COCKY

Very nice video. What's the range, how far will she get out? As far as the FFA goes don't really understand the whole thing. I look at it as long as I'm on my own land I can do whatever. In Missouri when you buy land you buy everything from down to the core to the heavens above. I checked when I bought this land 17 years ago. There is a lot more to this. If you're interested I'd be happy to explain. I think it's for people going to a park or public place to fly they don't want them there. It's the government they want in on everything. It's not right. Someone needs to ask President Trump about this and maybe he might help. I don't know maybe I'm wrong. Might add there is no flight pattern above me except for a Medevac, they can go anywhere. Just don't go above 400 feet. I stay below the hight of a utility pole. All I'm doing is checking on the fence. Don't want the cows getting out. Moo.

I thing the range with the stock receiver is typical for Spektrum, maybe a half mile or so. Good idea to ask the POTUS about the FAA regs. Maybe he isn't aware of what it's doing to the citizens rights.
