I'm a 63-year-old man. For some reason, I get emotional when I see Big Boy. You did a great job with this video. And it was really nice hearing your excitement.

Great video!! I got a quick video of it in Big Sandy for my channel. It was amazing to be that close to it when it came roaring by!! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for posting this video. It brings back lots of great memories. Kingsland is my home town tho I haven't lived there since graduating from college. My brother and some nephews live there. I currently live in the Denver Colorado area and have seen the Big Boy that is in the Forney Museum in Denver(that was several years ago. I assume it is still there). The church in the background of one of the shots is the Kingsland Missionary Baptist Church which I attended while growing up, tho it did not look like that back then. The view that shows the highway 98 crossing is across the street from where a liquor store used to be that was owned by the grandmother and uncle/aunt of my wife to be. The last stop of the Big Boy on its return to it's headquarters in Cheyenne, Wyoming is in the Denver area. I hope to see it here.

The up4015 diesel locomotive is used for dynamic breaks which up4014 doesn’t have.

My great uncle Karl Schmidt was an Engineer for the ICRR...He had a safety man riding with him in 1916 and the safety man threw a red switch on him somehow...Uncle Karl locked the brakes and bailed out at 60 miles per hour and hit the snow....you see the red switch meant another train was coming head on...Karl survived and got the coal shovel and chased the safety man for 2 miles and was going to kill him. At one point chasing him the conductor was there and had a pistol, Karl yelled: Shot him, he's a train wrecker....It's a true story and was written up in THE RAILROAD EVANGLIST, and I still have a copy of it in the house somewhere. I did not know about 4014 or I would have driven to Kingsland to see this. It's only 1.5 hours away from me. Karl retired after working for 53 years the ICRR and got his Golden Passport I believe it was called meaning he could ride free the rest of his life...he retired in 1960 and was chasing widows in his 80's at the senior citizens center. They called him THE FLYING DUTCHMAN during his working years and was never late...

Oh wow that text here was supposed to say that this was as far as we could get to Texarkana because they won’t allow public access to the rail yard. I guess that text got deleted which idk why but eh it is what it is 😂
