Swede here. One song made to the Eurovision out of sympathy for someone for a conflict that happened years ago between them and the one who came in second place. It was Cornelia Jakob's Hold Me Closer. Anders Bagge, who competed with the song Bigger Than The Universe (which I still think is better, we all needed that positivity back then imo) were one of the jury members in the Swedish Idol back in 2008 when Cornelia Jacobs had her audition. Anders Bagge was actually the kindest jury member, so it was rather uncharacteristic of him to tell her to stop making music for a few years. Another jury member said he saw "red flags", whatever that meant. But at the same time, she did get her revenge by winning. I just don't like the way a lot of people vote. But I guess we are all biased in our own ways. But some do won because of their looks, others because of fans almost vote spamming for their idol. Human nature I guess? I am however pleased to see The Mamas, John Lundvik and Tusse's songs are loved and appreciated by many. I probably don't sound like the oldest Gen Z I actually am here lmao. PS: Käärijä's Cha Cha Cha wasn't exactly the best song of that year, but I couldn't help but get teary eyed when the audience was shouting "Cha cha cha." I don't think I have ever heard the ESC audience cheer so loudly for someone before.. We really need more happy and/or upbeat songs in my opinion. But that's just me.
The spotify indicator is actually important for songs that were released before Spotify was a thing. It actually shows how timeless some of them are or what special appeal those songs had in their country.
