Cigarette lighters are either "switched" (acc on/off) or "always on". If you have an un-switched cigarette 12v outlet, the charger would work. You should have a charge-controller between the solar panel and the solar panel to prevent over charging which will also destroy your battery. I've been using this method with a cheap Amazon charge controller to keep my jeep happy in PA winter. Don't ignore the charge controller, as it most likely states this disclaimer in the panel insert. OK for maybe temp or short durations like 3 days, but not for long term solution without the charge controller.

Pretty sure it has a built in over charge protection. It sat on my car for about 3 months without issues.

Yeah why the f*** would they make it without a charge controller and considered a trickle charger it's an incomplete unit that way?

@@577buttfan because it's a cheap crap. You can see on a video that it outputs 20 volts, which indicates that there's no voltage regulation.

Often times you have multiple cigarette lighter 12v outlets in a new car, maybe one also in the console or trunk area. Often times the extra outlets are always on while the primary outlet is disconnected when the vehicle is off.

Yikes. Did you take any measurement readings on a voltmeter before you issued the endorsement of 'not worth shi#' : ) Was it the charger? Was the battery on the Fusion around 0-2 volts resting? Old? New?
Back to zee Kar Ms. Linda and report back. You have some more work to do.

Si es verificada la salida de tensión de carga y funciona, el problema con la batería es otro, dado que al no recuperar su nivel de energía optimo con este cargador de goteo, eso quiere decir que la batería esta muerta.

On the instructions it says to get a regulator. Did you get one and are your panels still working?

You can charge your car with the solar panels inside with your doors locked and your hood / windows closed. Buy a OBD2 connector and a battery regulator connected to a solar panel. Only problem with this is, you must disconnect before turning on your car. Your welcome. I made a video about it

You can leave it plug in as it has a controller to keep it safe but you should double check with the manufacturer 😂🎉

Can a solar panel trickle charger be used to maintain an AGM chemistry battery? I have been told; "No", because an AGM battery requires a voltage to charge between 13.8 to 14.6 volt and requires a minimum amperage of 7.5 VDC. Apparently all charge controllers intended for 12 VDC trickle charging stop charging when the battery reaches 12 VDC to prevent over charging, which is inadequate for AGM batteries. Can you, or other in the comments confirm this, or have experience with AGM battery charging?

Thanks for sharing. Gonna give this a shot. I might purchase a charge controller for peace of mind. Thanks buddy. I watched the Sunway video and it says it won’t overcharge your battery so now I’m wondering if adding a solar charge controller is worth the extra $$.

someone posted elsewhere the be careful about using the solar panel inside when its 90+ outside as the panel will also heat up and could damage the ABS plastic.

You should put a battery disconnect on that trailer so you can isolate it from anything that has a draw.

On your trailer, you have room to install several solar panels large enough to run 120volt items like a refrigerator or small electric stove, with a large battery bank you can store this energy for trips to the track or camping out, even run power tools like a table saw.
I say this becuse a lot of guys use these trailers to do contract work out of.
The roof of the trailer is pretty large.
You may be able to generate enough power to run some Led lamps inside the house for a few days if you have a power outage in your area.
Or work lights at a job, camp seight,or track. Using LED bulbs will conserve the energy you got stored.
