In a shorter episode than usual, a bonus book haul with debate on reading times 😄
Hahaha
Allen’s rants are hilarious!
He's great!
And you know you're going to get one, no matter where he goes. 😁
I have a three year old son who already shows certain symptoms of autism and ADHD, and it is so great to hear Allen talk openly about it. Awareness is key and to help the child when things do not make sense to him/her.
Allen's transparency is extremely valuable
I would be down for this duo yapping on a podcast...as long as it's video, cuz Allen :)
Hahahah
I loved Mistborn and think Elantris was pretty bad. Cool ideas and setting though so it was enjoyable enough for me to read it all, but it was cheesey. I will read the next books because I know he has grown so much as a writer.
He definitely has
Oh no here come a nother wonderful master peace ❤😊❤😊
We try haha
Allen speaking facts like always. My man.
A true hero
@@thefantasynuttwork Booktube's Sam Vimes. 😁
@@Paul_van_Doleweerd I co-sign this
For Neal Stephenson I'd recommend Anathem. It's one of the books I've thought the most about since reading it.
The opening of Under Heaven is one of my favourite scenes in fantasy
It's so good!
Pods as they ought to be casted.
I agree
Allan that might be the best rant I’ve ever heard at the beginning! Lol amazing
Legendary
All here for Allen's rants! Just someone with a platform speaking reasonably :D
He's great 😊
I love how Allen delivered a diatribe about the stuck-up modern aristocracy and then promptly began railing against popular media. Never change 😂
Hahaha
This is forever my curse! To be both revolutionary and tyrant!
Currently alternating reading the “Marid Audran”-trilogy (Cyberpunk Crime Stories set in an unnamed Arabic City, inspired by the French Quarter in New Orleans) by George Alec Effinger and the fourth book in the self-published Epic Fantasy series “A Tide of Sacred Ice”, “The Prince of Fire” by A.A. Saloen (YT channel: “Aladria”). Then it is “The Hunger of the Gods” and “The Veiled Throne” next (SO excited for it!)!
That's a solid list!
@@thefantasynuttwork Saw Brian Durfee’s review of “The One Kingdom” by Sam Russell: “Game of Thrones as written by GGK”. If that is anywhere near to truthful, it should right up both our alleys!
@@thefantasynuttwork Also, if you love post-apocalyptic Jimmy, I can highly recommend Paolo Bacigalupi: Have read both “The Windup Girl” and “The Water Knife” (both easy 4.5-5/5 stars from me) and hear his short story take on it in fantasy form, “The Tangled Lands”, is also very good!
@@thefantasynuttwork Mostly on same page as you and Daniel Greene on the “Rings of Power”-trailer: Love me some good old cavalry charges and ents, but slightly worried by Elendil’s dialogue to be honest… Have no greater wish than those fears proven wrong!
You guys have no idea how excited I am for the Dudes Talking Manga for Vagabond 💚
And yes. Looking forward to your reviews of Monster , AoT , 20th Century Boys , Vinland 🙌💯
I'm excited too 🙂
Missed catching this live because I was finishing up Fool's Assassin, but what an episode of CWN! I've been convinced to start reading the Sharpe books because it says so in the scriptures. If you liked GoT, you'll love CWN!
The gospel according to James was it? 😂
Hahaha
Great conversation guys! I would definitely listen to a weekly podcast from you two! Hope you have a good day
Thanks Drew 😊
Can completely relate to Allen's thoughts about the WoLaS readalong. I really want to (I've read Book 1 diligently)...but 10 more doorstopper books with the umm...'challenging' writing style and ever increasing complexity - I know I'm going to fail!
Stoner is such a good book. Recently finished it.
This was so much fun to watch! 🙂
I'm glad you enjoyed it 🙂
I thought this chat was tonight for some reason lol sad I missed it live but glad to catch up after. Love you guys!
We love you!!! I was looking for you in the chat last week 😆
Into the Narrowdark is fantastic so far - thought Brian Durfee's "best epic fantasy volume of the last 20 years?" might hyperbole but it's up there. Now that the final volume is coming out March 2023 hope we see you check the newer Osten Ard books out. (There's already 5 of them published, counting the short prequel and bridge book.)
I definitely will. I did read Brothers of the Wind
Suggestion for the name of your podcast: 'Chatting how it ought to be'
I loved this. Thanks Jimmy and Allen. 🥰
Hahaha thanks for watching!!
Sadge I missed it didn't see it in feed or get a notification but look forward to this!
I hope you enjoy!
@@thefantasynuttwork as always. Thanks for the entertainment Jimmy 🙂
Many of the older versions of Sharpe’s series audiobooks are free with audible premium plus (including the first two). The newer versions do have a better narrator, but I enjoy both and you can’t beat free.
Free is for me

@@thefantasynuttwork no problem. I downloaded Stoner for free thanks to your recommendation so just paying back the solid heads up 😁
Sharpe will most likely be my next Cornwell series after I'm finished Grail Quest. I've really been gelling with Allen's recommendations lately. Guns of the Dawn is also getting me in the mood for more Flintlock.
Allen is the best
@@thefantasynuttwork you're both the best 🤘
Allen has been making a dive into KJ Parker recently (my most favorite underrated author), and I would love to see you read a couple and include a small discussion the next time he's on your show.
Even though....I know you have like, a TON of books on your TBR list.
The Company is near the top of my tbr currently!
@@thefantasynuttwork Awesome! That one lingered with me for quite a while afterwards, so I look forward to that future review! 😉
This is basically a podcast already 😂
It sure is lol
You only went another 20 minutes? Tsk. 🤣
Welcome back Allen!
Brief as always
@@thefantasynuttwork The only thing brief about a conversation between you two is probably your underpants 🤣🤣🤣
Did I hear Vagabond? Let's goooooooo!
Yeah boiiiii
I'm at minute 38 and I think Allen is going to be the first ever booktuber to be cancelled. 😂 I wish I had teachers like this though
Hahaha
one of my main characters is a count
Station Eleven is sooo good!
One of the best books I've read
Some people code while listening to LoFi tracks. Me? I code while your discussions are playing in the background XD
Great episode! Allen rocks
My man! I code in silence because it takes all my brain power!
@@thefantasynuttwork Curious, what language do you code in?
@@Paul_van_Doleweerd 90% JavaScript, I love frontend haha
Also looking for new opportunities so let me know if you know anyone who needs a react developer 😂
@@thefantasynuttwork I used to code in 6502 assembly language, but that was a few years... a few decades ago if I'm honest.
Swann Song is a fairly smooth read for 800 pages.
I'm so hyped for it
omg so true allenlolgooooooooooooooo/
SuperGainBros spitting facts as well.
He's a good dude
wow Allen is a hoot
I agree 😆
This was great! Thanks guys👍🏻
Our pleasure 🤗
I roll my eyes so much now when I hear "it's like ASOIAF " it's a miracle my eyes are still in their sockets.
I'm with Allen. I've no interest in Gemmell's Fantasy books. His Historical-Fiction sounds more interesting.
For me the booktubers I've usually seen push Ninth Rain I've next to no crossover interests with so I dismissed it. Crappy of me I admit but too many books too little time.
Yeah it's not gonna be a hit with everyone but it's decent
Allen is wrong about Mulan. Shan Yu was the good guy. The only character that didn’t care about Mulan’s gender. Certified Chad
Absolute Chad
I think you can find some manga free online. Or pay a monthly subscription on a site where you can read a big selection.
Yeah that'll be how I do most in the future
@@thefantasynuttwork The only manga or comics I've read are Full Metal Alchemist and Buffy The Vampire Slayer/carries on the story after the TV show. I love them both.
I really enjoyed the Station Eleven TV series, I might give the book a go.
Booktube lore is getting wild. RJ is 76' tall, Philip is 9,000 years old, Joanna hates Allen. Someone should keep a record of booktube lore
We are just in the intro phase too
Last of Us 2 was not good at all. I don't know why people are excited for the TV show.
