Jomo Kenyatta making speech. Says He is a farmer and although a politica, but he has something in common ... People must talk to one another. Suspicion and fear is created by not talking to each other. We must learn how to fogive one another. British Prime Minister Harold MacMillan told us some time ago that we must adapt ourselves in the 'wind of change'. Nobody new at time what or how that wind of change would blow towards our shores here. It has come, the wind of change is here with us. Are we going to accept it, are we going to change to ... in changing conditions. This is a great question for us today. For us to adapt ourselves to new situations. If we could do so, mr Chairman, I think we would be able to eliminate one of the most difficulties among outselves. To know that this is not 1900 this 1963 and if we can adapt ourselves to that then I think we will be able to work together .......

This speech was given to stem the rapid departure of Europeans as Kenya got independence. Kenyatta considered it wise to instill confidence among jittery Europeans that all would be well for them. Rightly or wrongly, he thought that most Africans were still not ready to undertake large scale farming. That was the purpose of this meeting. It was reconciliatory (if I have wronged you I ask you to forgive me and if you have wronged me, I forgive you). It was not a judgemental meeting.

The British address mayors as "your worship" this meeting took place in Nakuru town hall where the then mayor of nakuru was present thus the need to address him that way. Up until 2010 new constitution in kenya that's how mayors were addressed as, nothing to do with the "worshipful masters".

No right-minded individual would praise Jomo Kenyatta. I'm surprised that some Kenyans are fascinated by small things like somebody speaking a colonialist's language. Jomo Kenyatta and the likes were bad omen to Kenya & Africa at large. Whilst other statemen built their countries on the foundation of unity, patriotism, integrity & prosperity after colonialism, the likes of Jomo Kenyatta built theirs on the foundation of greed, ethnicity, nepotism, corruption and disunity. He extinguished Kenya's light of progress at its infancy. No Jomo Kenyatta was a villain not a hero.
