Here in the EU I have to pay 800€ (Pro)+120€(drive)+ 50€(stand)!! It's like 1060$ in the US for something that is even less powerful than a RX 7700 XT? I can get something much better for that kind of money. According to TechpowerUp the GPU is still a RDNA 2.0 and a slow Zen 2. When the PS4 Pro was released for 399€ it was a pretty solid deal IMO. Just 100€ more expensive compared to the base PS4 and I got a last 4k support. Now I pay 800€ compared to 450€. That's 350€ more for what?
But at last it's hard to tell what it is. It is not a chiplet design like RX7700XT and higher. It is more like a RX7600XT with double the memory bus and more CUs/shaders. This would also explain the 64 ROPS. DF said it's as powerful as the 2080Ti and that's still around 10% less compared to the 7700XT. They say there's no HW AI acceleration and PSSR is no equivalent to DLSS. RDNA 3.0 got AI accelerators. So what is the Pro GPU then? What's crazy is that everyone compared the PS5 GPU to a RX6700 and it looks now that the Pro is as powerful as a RX6750XT. This is not really a jump that big up.
The real criminal thing was Sony not releasing any info on specifications and it has to wait until a purchaser posted the manual specification online due to an order going out early in Spain. Completely dishonest way of doing business. If a PC parts manufacturer tried to do that it would be ridiculed into oblivion, but when Sony does it everyone claps. Well now Sony is doing even more collabs with Apple with controllers for the vision pro. Sony will end up relying on Apple the way Russia is relying on China. And neither one will end well.
Man see I was all Sony until this gen and then the release of the pro. I ended up just building a pc because I want better fps, backward compart and even being able to mod. I have my ps5 still and I will play games if they come out but to move to a pro is just not something I was willing to do when most Newer gen GPU's have great upscaling and frame gen if needed.
Just remind them that the PS6 is coming out in Q2 2026 and will come out with UDNA chipset a full NPU architecture which will be a completely different version of PSSR. The Pro will be useless at that point. The Devs will be supporting the PS6 PSSR and drop the Pro like a live grenade. Also Sony's CEO already stated they started designing the Pro in an interview months ago that they were designing the Pro at the same time as the PS5. So why haven't they been doing internal testing throughout that time to resolve these PSSR issues.
PS6 is not coming out in 2026. It will most likely release in 2028, because it needs enticing launch titles. Spider-Man 3 has a 2028 launch window, so the PS6 is pretty much a lock for 2028
