Loving the direction Knafs is going towards. If I had a request to go along with the customization focus of the Lander series, I would ask for standalone retrofit blade options. I love the Lander 1 specifically for its simplicity and think it'll be great if you designed and sold separate blade shapes that we could switch to and install to go along with whatever new flavor of scales we might have. I have seen an amazing DIY clip-point modded Lander 1 and I think Knafs could pioneer the whole "completely DIY your knife directly from us" concept.
Cant wait to see that slipjoint! So awesome to see the Lander series keep expanding in new ways. For a future Edge of Intelligence I would love to see "If a movie was made about Knafs who would play Ben and Austin."
Austin, know that your "strikes a chord" pun at the end did not go unnoticed. Well done, sir! Also a slipjoint would be awesome! Maybe with a removable pocket clip with magnetic plates to cover screw holes when not used. Feel like a slipjoint warrants a classier cover up instead of one's that need hardware like on the Lander models?
This kickstarter was such a coincidence as I was in the market for this very type of carry. Happy to be a little patient for exactly what I'm looking for.
Yall need to do an Employee of the Month segment 🎉 Also might send a care package that yall can use for a GAW. Sent a few to Frankie and Bird and they loved em
Love the quality and style of the knives you create, but PLEASE make some with handles for the many of us guys with larger hands... I understand and agree with your philosophy about only what you need and utility, but for many of us a 4 inch and under handle is just too small, especially if there's a "beak" at the butt end...
I'm definitely interested in a UK legal Lander! Pretty much my ideal knife, I hope it's in the og size. glad it's going to be a real slip joint too. My favourite budget slipjoint is the QSP Penguin slippy, you should pick one up for research if you haven't already :D

Love this video series. I watch the new episodes Saturday morning while I’m drinking my coffee. Great way to relax and enjoy some knife news and knife banter. Also, I can’t wait to hear more about the slipjoint knife. That will be amazing I’m sure.
News flash back in the 80s when knives were only available through catalogs a magazine remember those my first knife was a can onion Chive which I still have and still works followed by the Blur s30v and Launch I would you still part of my EDC and just to a reminder Ken Onion invented the bar spring AKA assistant opening😊
Hey gentlemen great job love the show you guys are informative, entertaining and bring a lot to the table literally and figuratively, very much interested in the lander 4 I believe the timing of the edc fixed blade is spot on, and it’s nice to be with you from the ground up on the project it gives the knife a personality, and a history before it even gets to the shelf God speed to you and Knafs always.
Any thoughts to a community collaboration from the Moon Group, maybe call it "The ISS"? It'd be cool to see a community voted knife with the Ben influence 🤘
INTERESTED…heck I’m absolutely fixated on the possibility of a lander 2.5…hear me out LINER LOCK. Yeah I know I’m probably in the minority here, but I just can’t manipulate a crossbar lockbar very well. I absolutely love the first Lander! I was so excited when I heard a second version was coming,,,,my heart was broken when I saw the crossbar lock. Anyways, just one nin-com-poop’s thoughts. You’ve got a great business going here Ben!!
The Knafs Yipper(upgraded/fixed version) is essentially the next evolution of the Benchmade Osborne 940👍 The Yipper has a reverse tanto blade with thinner blade stock than the 940 with a significantly slicier grind🙏🏼 The Yipper also has a much better pocket clip that's deep carry and it's inset into the G10 handle scale with countersunk/flush screws👍 The Yipper is also using the adjustable clutch lock which is so much better than the Axis lock mechanism which is known to have various quality control issues😬 Basically the Yipper is a 940 with a significantly slicier blade, better cross bar lock and better pocket clip. In my personal opinion, the Knafs Yipper is a total Benchmade Osborne 940 killer👍
I love the feel of my first gen Yipper. Where can I get the updated thumb stud and how will we know when buying one if it’s new or old stock? Is the new run going to be called Yipper 2.0 or something similar?
26:41 QUESTION: do you have a better & larger bottle of Vibratite? 30:43 YES… YES… YES! With a unique & cool Knafs leather sheath! I’d back that Kickstarter! A tomato Tanto, pickled Persian & pear Persian.
Interresting. In portuguese Nova means new. The male counterpart is Novo. In Portugal many words have two variations depending if you’re talking to a man or woman.
Good on ya! They’re great folks over there. We definitely drove there at night via GPS. My apologies for not paying closer attention. And Austin is more of a car guy than me, so seems like a car guy. 😉 -Ben
Did all first run MKM Yippers have a problem with the blade hitting the barrel spacer when closing? I bought my MKM Yipper from BladeHQ in February. I do not fidget with my knives. I was taught as a Boy Scout that knives are sharp tools, and not toys. When I close a knife with a crossbar lock, I gently and slowly let it fall back into the close position. On my Yipper, the blade does not strike or even come close to the barrel spacers. Does the reported issue only occur when someone is slamming the blade from the lock position to the close position? On a different note, I am excited about the Lander 4 and even more excited that there will be two blade shapes and material variants. I pledged for both fixed blade knives. I have been thoroughly impressed with all the Knafs products - well-designed and well-built.
You do have to close the yipper with a little bit of speed for this to become an issue but it is an issue. If you aren’t having issues that’s fantastic. There are a lot of people that didn’t. Thanks for backing the Lander 4. -Jamie
So the Lander 5 is a Slipjoint? 😉 would be pretty cool. I love my Lander and I carry it, but it's actually forbidden to carry in Germany. That goes for the Lander 1-3. I don't know about the fixed blade currently because there's a lot of UA-cam content about stricter rules for knives and a max length of 6cm but I don't know if that's true and if the law is already in use
I know some folk at Apple. They say that when a designer presents their design for a new product, they have to present prototypes for what will become the current *and* next generation of it.
Looking to get my first fixed blade, might hop in the kickstarter, I’ve been thinking about getting a lander even tho I’m not trying to replace my folder
Love the looks of that fixed Lander, just for fun I have to toss out... Reverse tanto version?? thoughts? I mean you will probably get my money for the drop point but the maker in me wants that reverse tanto.
Will MKM send folks who bought a 1st run yipper the new thumb studs? What can people do that bought the knife and have the issue of the blade hitting the spacer?
@knafs_co i live in Israel... so i did not really have a choice... it is difficult to send anything back... again... mine had no blade damage and has been a great light weight carry in my waist band all summer... thanks... its a great addition to my collection. Continued success
To give you guys my feedback directly - i love the fixed blade lander. Probably won't buy one until we get a g10/carbon fiber version. I don't like that micarta absorbs smells, comfy as it may or may not be on any given knife. Also, would like to see a proper drainage hole on the tip side of some kydex so i can sheath while the knife is dirty & clean it out later without a massive headache. The drop point version is everything it needs to be. Carry the folder at home. Would love to have both.
Fair. There should be aftermarket g10 scales for the Lander 4 relatively quickly once it’s launched into the retail world. Who knows we may have a g10 variation at some point as well. The sheath does have a drain hole at the tip. If you check out the Kickstarter page there should be a picture or two. -Jamie
I checked the entire page from top down. I have a few pointers as a fixed blade oriented knife enthusiast. Firstly, still the drainage hole. Being able to sheath while working messy jobs & blow (& dry) more than just a tiny bit of water out is ideal for this role. I would recommend an example of the Bradford knives pancake kydex drainage hole. Mora plastic sheaths also accomplish this well. Secondly, the lanyard placement not including the handle scales, which can be done by milling out the scales at the bottom of the handle around the tang & obviously having a hole in the steel down there to fit cordage through. I will find you an example of this exact thing. Lastly, I have a Kickstarter question: I would like to ensure my purchase of the knife & ultem scales. How do I know I would get them, eventually? Totally okay with waiting.
@@Krusher_Knave More good feedback. Thanks. To grab some Ultem scales you just have to make sure you add them as an add on when you pledge for one of the knives. Just scroll down until you see the Ultem scales and hid add.
I don't own any Knaf's knives. None of them this far have really appealed to me. But I definitely see a Yipper in my future -- assuming MKM have got their Magnacut heat treatment down now. Ken Onion has a fantastic history, but I'm not sure anyone is falling over themselves in 2024 to get their hands on the latest Ken Onion. His great contribution, IMO, was to make fantastic *affordable* knives and Ben has really assumed that mantle today.
