I started watching baseball again a little over 2 years ago, mostly to have something to do besides constantly thinking about the thesis I was struggling to write. When I was a kid, my Dad & I had been big O's fans (as much as one could be in rural Virginia, this was before the Expos moved to DC), so naturally I gravitated back towards them. I wasn't expecting much, but then after a few days this kid Adley shows up & everyone's real excited for some reason and I'm like "man, that's sweet they're giving the new guy a standing ovation, but c'mon, let's play ball already?" And then all of a sudden the O's start winning. After that inexplicable 10-game win streak in May, I texted my Dad saying "hey, the O's are doing pretty well this season, huh?" To which he immediately replied "Is this some kind of sick joke?" And it made me smile so big to call him up & say "check the AL East leaderboard again, Dad!" What a team. Timeless. Persistent. Joyful.

Went to my first ballgame since the Senators left DC the night of the Bronco chase. I'd forgotten how much I love baseball! I have very much appreciated and enjoyed listening to your Phantom of the Orioles and your breakdown of their play. It’s been very informative and fun. One question I have is the talk about gunner being an MVP candidate and if you just asked any fan in general if they would take the stat line that Adley Richman is carrying right now as their catcher they would fall over saying yes, and yet no one talks about the fact that this is by far it seems to be the best catcher in baseball right now, but not an MVP candidate, that seems odd
I'm honestly just glad they made it this far with the sweep-less streak. But, I found it as a distraction. Now, just win as many games as possible, and get better as players.
It just goes to show that O's still aren't one of those teams that can play sloppy defense and overcome it with their bats like teams such as Dodgers or Yanks could. Also you can't have consistent offense when half the guys are always swinging for the fences and half the ABs seem to end in fewer than 3 pitches. I love Adley but he just takes exaggerated upper cut swings too often.
@@wallberlin Hey. Yes I do the circuit or a least 'a circuit'. Connor does a very good job. One thing about the 'Locked In' folks they do set a professional standard. I like the 'agenda' approach. Let's face it we don't have to time to do this all day and sometimes the subject is of less interest for a broadcast. You can look at the agenda and click forward or decide if you want to invest. Doing the circuit requires time management. I often write code while I watch because I can go on auto pilot on the low level code typing spans.
There is always a silver lining. I don’t have to hear about the sweepless streak anymore, thank Christ. I literally don’t care. Now. Anything less than 3 of 4 in Chicago is a problem. They suck. Let’s leave bad luck and one VERY bad ball or strike call behind
How many games this year have the O's tallied 3, 4, 5 hits? Not going to win many of those games. The offense has been extremely inconsistent and that's what happens when your team is hitting .240 with a .300 OBP. Even if you hit 3 solo HRs you'll still lose almost every time. Can't keep trotting Gunnar out at leadoff and an outfield who is hitting around .195 (apart from Cowser). I like Santander, Mullins, and Hays but those ABs have to start going to Stowers. It's not early anymore. The starters are pitching games they should win, but the manager and the outfield are incompetent. They haven't really even been playing top-notch teams so far--hopefully the brutal reality of the June schedule will wake the team up. Good offenses are built on singles and walks. Yes you need the hairybacks to knock them in but just doubles and HRs won't do it.
Actually, I would say the fans that don’t accept bad losses would be the more passionate fans. Team has been playing really bad, they deserve some criticism
