Thank you so much for the review. I shelfed it last year after noticing my daughter just wasn't comprehending it much. But I agree, its amazing how it ties the Bible with other historical events in the world. I wish it worked for my family.
Thanks for the review. Just want to throw out there that time lining is not busywork. the sense of time develops around age of 8 and children are learning primarily through concrete ways-they need manipulative and experiences to take in information through the senses. History is a particularly abstract subject, it is probably the least concrete subject because it is in the past it cannot be experiences. images help, but the timeline makes time concrete for children in the concrete stage of development. The one they recommend may not be required, but most curricula and educational methods do recommend time lining, it is especially interesting to see how events overlap...like di you know Noah's sons were still living when Abraham left Ur? timelines are super helpful for children--as adults we can imagine things because we have a lot of experiences and media and teaching that have laid the foundations, children don't have that. SO wouldn't ever skip a timeline with younger kids-basically k-8.
We are planning on using Mystery of History next school year. I don't think we will do the timeline either. We did a timeline 2 years ago in our history and the kids got nothing from it.
I always kind of thought you were more of a literature based History type. Can’t wait to see what you picked for next year!!!! We do Sonlight. We’re pretty sold on it. ❤️
Thank you for your feedback. it's on my list for next year since we picked up the second volume just a few weeks ago from a near by homeschool library and I love it! Maybe it was also the topics, I would suggest giving volume 2 a try.
We purchased MOH but it didn't keep the kids engaged. My 4th and 5th grader will be doing history together this year . I've been watching reviews and am leaning towards Notgrass but havent 100% decided.
What did you end up switching to? I have a K & 2nd and wanting to introduce a history that will keep them intrigued, but also doesn’t take a ton of time because they are young. I really want one that is a Christian world view and starts with creation (not US history like so many popular ones seem to do).
Thank you for this. I made the mistake of buying a used copy of this online. It was completely written throughout with marker and pen. 🤦 So not sure I will still use it. Oh well. Lesson learned. 🤷
Hi,I have a question about the mystery of history timeline. I noticed in the MOH they put creation at 4004 BC but the timeline figures you can buy and cut out puts creation at 5000 BC . Which one do you do?
Hey there, we decided not to work on the timeline because I wanted to spend more time on the activities. However, I would just tailor it fit MOH’s suggested timeline. MOH teaches from a young earth perspective.
@@thesparrowlilyschoolhouse We used Our 50 State last year and LOVED IT! We’re doing Our Star Spangled Story this year and LOVING IT as well! Something I’ve done is keep a variety on the bookshelf for the kids to just grab. Meaning we have SOTW on the shelf and my kids ages 11 & 9 are reading Ancient History as their reading of choice. However, for 5th -7th/ 8th I plan to use Mystery of History and then back to Notgrass and maybe pull on Hillsdale College. Not sure if you know this, but Hillsdale offer a FREE homeschool history curriculum as well!
The way you reviewed this was so thorough and helpful. Thank you for including the companion guide information and the enrichment reccs! Great video!
Thank you for sharing. I’ve heard a lot of other mamas talking about mystery of history. You’re video was super detailed and helpful.
So very helpful! I’m very excited to use this in the upcoming year 😊

Thanks for the review! Have you tried Biblioplan?
I had saw one of your videos about CLE do you have others? Could you by chance give me a play list about CLE? Also anymore on the MOH?
Hey Amealya, I don’t have any more videos on CLE. We like there reading program.

What is another Biblical world view history curriculum you’d recommend or what are you doing now? Thanks for this review.
Ypu might want to look into Masterbooks World History

I’ll be sharing that soon 🙂
Thank you so much! Have you ever heard of Notgrass?
Yes I have! I’ve heard great things about it. Honestly, I wish I would have used it with my daughter last year.
