The idea of buying a battery that suits you and being able to pay a fee to get the biggest battery for long journeys or holidays is such a good idea. Would protect the value of cars as you have options. Swapping to speed up charging seems over kill but getting bigger battery when you need it would be a huge benefit.
NIO is doing more than 75,000 battery swaps daily on average. The number speaks for itself. For customers, there are several advantages of battery swapping and I don't see any disadvantages: - if you don't want to battery swap, then don't swap and use a charger instead - comment - "If you go to the restroom while charging" - is one directional scenario and should be expanded with - "What if you do NOT go to the restroom". In that case, the battery swap is obviously superior. The vast majority of the people in the cities/towns do NOT go to the restroom at gas stations. - 4th generation Power Swap Station (PSS) - total time (park, swap, exit) is 3-4 minutes - 4th generation PSS supports driverless swapping - 3rd/4th gen PSSs (will) have vending machines - you can rent a high-capacity battery for longer trips Besides, there are advantages for the community/environment: - PSS supports grid balancing - battery degradation is lower - they started installing solar panels on the roofs of PSSs - batteries can be charged during the night when electricity consumption/cost is lower - each battery is carefully inspected after the swap
The reason why it sometimes takes time to start the swap process is because the station needs to flash the battery software to match your cars software version. So if someone has an older version on their car and refuse to upgrade this will cause them and others to have delayed swaps. It can take 10sec to 1min to flash the batteries. The 100b batteries have more memory to avoid this

I don't really like that battery swapping. Takes a bit longer than 5 minutes and you need to stay in the car. If you go to the restroom after that, charging a modern 5C charging car would be faster because you only need to plug it in and then do your stuff.
Then, when you need to relieve yourself and you're not in a hurry, you skip the swapping station and charge at the charging station at the same location.
Personally I would never see this option as a plus. Every time I quick charge i usually go to the toilet or get some food. Then I would need to swap first, then do my business. Most of the time I am done charging before my other tasks.
