I have 8 plants in a 4x5 and they are thriving but I’m trimming ! I’m using grow dot and recharg the steams are almost the size of a nickel my 2nd grow I’m very happy with all your advice
I'm doing my first grow. I used compost that I made with leaves and stuff and some dirt from the Home Depot and apparently I lucked out and have it dialed in perfectly. My plant is huge, and bushy and green, no yellow or brown leaves. I fertilize with blood meal, bone meal, earthworm castings, and some fish based stuff called Morebloom, which is 0-10-10. I do small amounts kind of often. This thing is super healthy. Hopefully I don't fuck up but it's doing really well now.
I use a touch of that morbloom as well. Some varieties will get more hungry for potassium and phosphorus. Like Purple Punch for example; they tend to have a lotta leaves and grow in kinda shaggy looking lol. All those leaves cost potassium to run I think. Plus the phosphorus is something they need as well, in order to properly use their calcium they gotta have some phosphorus present. I still don't understand a lot of it, but I know what the experts are saying these days. One of the latest things is the discussion about how Phosphorus, in a very roundabout way, can make your plant better able to use the calcium that is available to it, simply by makin' healthier roots. Speaking of which, I just took one of my Ya Hemis, and I dissected her pot afterwards, to see what happened. This is the one I burned real bad, and something had stunted her on top of that. Well, turns out it was because I used one of those little starter disc things to pop those seeds. Then, the little disc expands up into what looks like a little bag with soil in it. Well, it said the little bags disintegrate. They don't. my little Ya Hemi's main tap root was bent off to one side, like it had grown around some obstacle. Yeah, that stupid little bag! From now on, I'm just plantin' in the top of my own soil mix, in a 5 gal. fab. Now if I could just find some cheap little tray things to put under them, I could bottom water.
I run autos all year in a 5x5 and have a blast growing them and photos outside in the summer so I always have room indoors. Recharge all the way..thx guys!

I’m checking off all the right boxes according to this video. Minnesota makes sure we don’t crowd our grow space with their four plants in flower and four in veg rule. I have copies of that PH chart along with feeding schedules hanging on the wall and set ppfd and DLI according to charts. I’m not right on with temp and humidity but am always solidly within the recommended range. The only time I’m off a bit on recommend temp and humidity is when I’ve got something in the drying tent and veg stage. Then I have to compromise and get up to the 70-72 range while drying. Aside from that it’s always within range and if the veg tent is empty I can zero in closer to 60/60. Range is the key word here that is sometimes overlooked. Outdoor growers deal with deer, storms, drought, and this summer monsoons. Like I say, they dry in the pole barn and do a fantastic job based on past samples. I feel pretty good as I’m on top of proper watering as well. That all came naturally from planting outdoor gardens and having a yard to take care of since 1974. I like these episodes where I don’t feel like any changes are needed. Validation that I guessed right.
I've got a 3 x 3 and it has 6 3 1/2 gallon pots and I opting for two more because altho the space is tight it is there. Ive done it before and I keep everything trimmed and tidy at all times and work hard to keep the plants from overlapping or touching each other and keep them smaller than I normally would with less plants. The benefit is that if one or two plants don't grow well the others will make up for it. Interestingly enough with just four plants I had my biggest harvest but those were with 5 gallon buckets. And let me tell ya G13 is a seriously stinky strain. But I do believe Scotty is right about the plants wanting and needing there own space and even if there not touching or overlapping they seem to know its to tight. Somehow they know.
well, in my newbieness and excited mindset to start my first grow in September this year I made probably the biggest bonehead mistake. I did not rinse nor buffer my coco. According to the company, re email contact, they claim they triple wash the coco, so salt content should be low. They also claim that a lot of people grow plants with their coco . BUT they also didn't have the pH or CEC for the coco. (I like to learn stuff). Anyway, I have 3 plants growing. One is about two weeks behind the older 2, which popped 9/7/24. One is doing pretty good and the other is growing, but showing signs of stress. Anyway, without writing a novel, my biggest mistake was not buffering or rinsing my coco prior to transplanting into 5 gallon pots. It didn't wipe me out, but I am pretty sure the leaf curl and discoloration is a nutrient issue associated with the salt content of the coco. It could be genetics or other environmental factors also. Which is confusing as one plant of the two siblings is doing so well. My next step is to add Cal-Mag when I water next and with future watering down the road. Nutes, lighting, rH, pH, etc are all in a safe range. Growing cannabis is a fun experience, but to my amazement and a bit of my frustration, there is much more to it than any garden flowers I have raised from seed to flower.
I've done 9 in a 30"x30" several times and that's about as crowded as I can get. That's just 9 main colas and a few side braches lollipopped to hell and flipped at like a foot tall. I was finding the fastest way to fill out my canopy and get to flower. My personal best is 9oz from that space, which tracked with the seed bank I ordered from said to expect by area for that strain. So I fell in love with SoG method pretty quick.
Still preaching DWC. Grew in soil for years. Never over/under water your plants again. Monitor pH daily. I grow from seed, no auto-flowers. Only 1 or 2 plants at a time. So many ways to enjoy this hobby. Glad this info is available.
That chart on nutrient absorption is very helpful. I’ve been fighting an iron deficiency on new growth.the old growth is perfectly green and healthy. Out door grow in straight ground. I added CaliMagic to my nutrient cycle and the plants got better. Then it keeps coming back. What I didn’t do was check the ph of my nutrient solution. When i finally checked the ph it was 8.5 in the water and high 7 in soil. I dropped the ph in the water to 5.5 and watered again. This brought my soil down to a low 6. 🤞 it fixes the problem. It’s almost time to stretch and flower so I’m hoping it’s fixed, but I’m getting so nervous being this close to flower.
I am heading the end of my first „professional“ indoor grow. The one plant that grew the fastest started to turn brighter. After a lot of research I found out that it is an iron defficiency. I Never tested my ph levels because our water used to be perfectly at 6,5. Once a year our city runs cheaper water that is at 8,2. Obviously that was the problem 😅 It was interesting to see that the plants are not able to absorb Iron with an ph of over 8. thank you for your help ❤
Here's a question for you i been growing now going on now for 6 years and been watching all of you guys since the 2017 I've only been growing outside for 3 years and been doing great the last 2 years on production some real fire but here is the question that I have is my soil is 4.5 to 5.5 and I've put fertilizers to try and get it up and still staying at that range and still production great growing i wish I could show you the pictures
I am a new grower and so far everything is going well I recently topped my plant and now it has exploded with growth on top the veg part is going wonderfully but in all honesty I don't care that it is super dank I just want to grow my own that give me the buzz I want while keeping my butt out of the dispensary
This is my 3rd run. I started last year. I have a 5x5 tent and got 8 plants this time but smaller pots. 2 gallons. I’m planning of flowering sooner so they won’t stretch too much. I’m excited I got a variety of like 5 different strains
My autos look great couple of weeks from harvest, now all the leaves are getting brown spots, then drying and curling just like a calcium deficiency, so i added calcium carbonate and it has not helped, cant work it out. Ph is 6.8, 7ish 🤷♂️ i should make it to harvest though
I'm guilty of over loving my plants I've found less is more in most cases. I'm doing my first pure organic outdoor grow this year lots more planning ahead I'm realizing it takes weeks for some amendments to break down enough for the plants to up take the nutrients. It's definitely challenging to get everything balanced
I'm having good luck with organic. As you said it takes awhile for the nutrients to break down, but you can time it. I'm using blood meal for nitrogen and also worm castings. Also using bone meal and some liquid fish based stuff which is 0-10-10, I think it's called Morebloom. I use pretty small amounts kind of often and it's doing great, lots of growth and no yellow or brown leaves. If you do it just right those products are constantly feeding just the right amount.
On my first grow i had a slight mildew smell so figured i needed more airflow, put a large oscillating fan, set it on med-low and went away for the weekend, came back and the plant closest to the fan got wind burn 😢. Luckily it wasnt toooo bad but definitely hurt my yield. Didnt know wind burn was a thing. I do now
I have only 4 plants in a 6.5'x6.5' greenhouse grow(8' of head room)that I started early May. They're in 15 gallon pots using COM stonington blend soil. I topped the plants I've been growing in my indoor tent as early as possible, and they grew maybe 24"-26" tall in my grow tent, looking like a menorah, with equal sized large branches all pretty much the same distance from the light. These plants in the greenhouse however are out of control. I have only 4, albeit in 15 gallon fabric pots. They're taller than me, despite being topped when young. It's awesome, but I'm worried about not having enough room! I wanted bigger plants in the greenhouse than last year, but this is just insane! Apparently they're loving the 15gal pots with stonington blend, and full sun every day. I should also mention the weather has allowed for almost zero cloudy days since May. I'm not sure what to do at this point, or if they get too big, maybe I should dissemble the greenhouse around them and hope for the best lol.
Love your shows buddy. I have been using Grobuckets and they work fabulous. No more under or over watering my autoflowers seem to really like it. I’m never going back to fabric pots again🤪🍻. Would you think using half coco and half soil would be a good thing with these Grobuckets. I would love for you to do a show on how to use them to there fullest. Happy growing from Canada ❤
but if you put the right amount of perlite or the other kind of stuff that you use to help drain, then you shouldn't have that problem right? and this is a question
Growing out side watch out for tobacco worms And pray you don’t get too much rain too much rain means bud rot I found that blowing then off with leaf blower to dry off the buds and plant works pretty good
My first grow in 4x4 I did 8🤦♂️ loads of larfy crap🤦♂️ top tip….vacuum pack the larf real tight. It’s not pretty but it all sticks together and grinds up fine👍 once ground you can’t tell.
Day 3 of flower, running some sfv og bx1. 3 lovely ladies out of 5 regs. Not bad percentage. Kinda like i did in school. Lol. Did i mention its 100 degrees here and my ac went out a month ago. Had 2 buy 2 portables just to keep up. And open the tent. Just hoping they call soon about the part. Holding 79 degrees 64.5 humidity with a vpd 1.21.
My most common and aggravating mistake for me is over and under watering very annoying but I give myself credit by being able to bring back mostly any sick plant I come across but after 6 yrs of indoor growing in living soil that is the mistake i commonly make I also have designs for self watering bucket system but a tip I’ve learned is using a small spray bottle and just water seedlings with that
I just use recharge for the first time that stuff is amazing it perked my plant right up nice and green. I don’t think I’ll ever use anything else besides grow dots. That is amazing also
Growing on the balcony. With summer outside it's hard not to overwater. Especially at an altitude of 2200 ft the UV radiation is so high that the leaves will hang within hours when not giving them water. Got fabric pots and still i feel i should go with less water. But how?
I recently had to use captain jacks ready to use neem oil for 🐛 chewing leaves and now the tips are turning kind of orange yellow is there any thing i can do to make them better??
Yea he’s correct. Mine are overcrowded. So i set up my HPS tent into a LED. Using HPS in the summer is crazy dumb. So i set up my tent for LED. I have 17 plants and they are crowded. I will split them up.
My biggest mistake growing (and I still do it at times) is overcrowding. I say it's for less veg time between harvests, but I always wait to long to flower and get major overcrowding.
Some good advice: If you are serious about growing, save money in the long run, buy good equipment in the beginning like AC Infinity fans, lights, Gorilla tents, AutoPot watering system with large pots, Grow Dots, Recharge, and good soil like FoxFarm's Ocean Forest. You will be so sorry if you go for cheap equipment.
@@MasonsAlienGrow maybe try one of the self watering techniques? Easy to do with existing pots and short lengths of rope or really anything absorbent for making wicks. Of course plenty of commercial versions available.
you look like the dad of the burnout 20-somethings that were our friends older brothers hitting bongs and telling us about their latest conspiracy theories, so I KNOW I'm in the right place to improve my grow.
Ipm. That has been a problem a few times. I was able to kick plants outdoors and hit with neem. Yet another reason I don't grow indoors in summer. I had 4 autos that were too far into bud to plant outdoors. But knew at 22-25 days when they showed sex I was NOT getting a good yield for auto. My water table is low this year. So had to dig a few new holes. Did use some recharge not all of it went to the sweet corn. Think the cedar root in gave clone #4 a peppery taste last year. I expanded that hole this year. And same clones. Ultimate purple fast photo x skunk hero x b2. Shows sex like an auto but photo dependent. Done earlier then regular photos for my environment and shorter grow season. We have had a lot of rain in upper great lakes too. Which hasn't made up for lack of snow. It's made floods.

Should of pollinated autos in basement but had other plants didn't want pollinated. Might have to build a cage in back yard at home next year. Just to put plants outdoors sooner to pollinate some before going up north. Don't think I got colloidal silver on autos soon enough.
Love your uploads man👍👍 So informative. Personally I'm still running soil. Lumatek lighting. Advanced nutrients. Ac infinity fans. Struggling to get grow dots here in Ireland guy's!! Definitely want to try
yes they can destroy the leaves, best way to keep them off is make some type of barrier that makes it had for them to get to the plant. like wood chip mulch or other things they can not travel on.
I just love your videos Scott, you are a real dude……see what I did there😊. Btw, I’m an organic guy and have been using recharge from day one and love it. Lately I’ve been thinking of using salts and thought….” Well recharge works so well, I wonder how grow dots will do” so today I bought my first bag of dots. I only grow autos and was wondering how they do on shorter grow times like the 65-75 day strains. I would think maybe only use them on the 90 day haze type maybe?…. Got any advice on that?
Yes there shouldn't be any differene beside the absence of nitrogen in any healthy soil system. Once you're reinnoculating the soil and adding back in nutrients you can reuse the same media up to 5 times
@@lordfreizaa4013@scottyreal What is the best products to use to make your soil like brand new or better so this batch of plants don't die like the current batch? Bio-char or Cocoa bricks to help retain nutrients to disperse when plants need it?
How about "when you get run off water in your trays "do not feed it back to your plants". Do "not use any fertilizer or fertilized soil for the first 2-3 weeks of growth".
As a breeder of cannabis for 8yrs and growing for over 23yrs I've never used AC or a dehumidifier or humidifier I live in the north east in winter humidity is down as low a 25 and summer high today 6/23/2024 its 82% even in flower i almost never have bud rot or powder mildew etc bc air flow is key most people focus on i need xyz to grow so they dont grow my flowers are the best around in the group of people I know and the dispensary is trash. I'm not saying that temps and humidity don't affect cannabis but u can manipulate the light intensity air flow etc to still get far superior buds then u can get so to all the stealth growers and people who worry just grow some it will be better then buying unknown flowers. Also Scotty did you guys see how many brands failed for pesticides recently like jungle boys stizy and 23 other large brands I can't believe it but ya some failed for over 20 pesticides (stizy being 1) and some of these are multi state operations be careful out there or simply grow ur own
Too many plants and all eat differently too. Have had every issue but spider mites were the worst. Also don’t over love because after 17 years I’ve done it early and later. Sometimes if I’m low like now I’ll do 2 of10-12 gallons in a 4x4 and got about 2lbs or so. Usually like 4 in 3-7. Have a smaller 2.5x2.5 foot but like the bigger
PH seems to still be an unknown to me. Using promix hp mainly with a little coco and warm castings I dont know what the PH is in that to begin with. I use Advanced nutrients which claims to be PH balanced. Recently got a cheap 20$ Ph meter to check the soil but I see no consistant readings enough to know for sure where I stand in PH. Maybe Scotty you could explain some of that more in detail in another video.
I'm really struggling with over and under watering. Trying out CocoLoco right now but gonna try an actual coco run soon though, when I got the space for another plant.
How does that "Half weight" thing work? Does the plant not gain weight when it grows? How do you plan for half weight when you don't know how much weight the plant gained?

Hallo just want to say you are the man that inspired me to start growing a few years ago. Thank you!
Still preaching DWC. Grew in soil for years. Never over/under water your plants again. Monitor pH daily.
I grow from seed, no auto-flowers. Only 1 or 2 plants at a time.
So many ways to enjoy this hobby. Glad this info is available.
I gave up on it after 8 years after I learned crop steering in Cocoa you just can't get the Quality with dwc cuz you're constantly bulking the plant
@@dannyarmata8878 Is crop steering the same as training (high or low stress)?
No one has ever complained about the quality. It works for me.
Smart. I'll never touch coco
Its night and day. I grow i both at same time. It builds 2 root zones for better nuke uptake

I have a fish tank established more than ten years and i use the water from that to water my plants and they seem to love it...any thoughts?
I am heading the end of my first „professional“ indoor grow. The one plant that grew the fastest started to turn brighter. After a lot of research I found out that it is an iron defficiency.
I Never tested my ph levels because our water used to be perfectly at 6,5.
Once a year our city runs cheaper water that is at 8,2. Obviously that was the problem 😅
It was interesting to see that the plants are not able to absorb Iron with an ph of over 8. thank you for your help ❤
Thank you so much for always dropping knowledge like a Polaroid picture. Too many people still torture their plants...but not in the good way.
This dude is a scientist when I comes to this stuff. But he breaks it down like a real dude.
I'm always learning stuff here.

Hello, my flower is drooping. Is it due to excessive watering? And what should I do? Can you help me? thanks
Hello, my flower is drooping. Is it due to excessive watering? And what should I do? Can you help me? thanks
Love it scotty....it's my lifetime goal to meet u and pass u a jay!!!
Hell Yeah!
👍💨✌️I’ve been growing for awhile and can always learn something from watching you guys , thanks for what you do.

Keep your humidity dialed below 60 in flower you will be fine
So 26.7° and 58.5% ist Just fine ?
@@BaidaFFM We're from Murica,we use the real measuring system Fahrenheit, so yeah 80°.

My mistake ,, too much light , thought it was fertilizer problem 😆But them i found Scotty 🤩 Thanks for explaining
Done all the mistakes, and this things happen.
You learn something new every cycle
My autos look great couple of weeks from harvest, now all the leaves are getting brown spots, then drying and curling just like a calcium deficiency, so i added calcium carbonate and it has not helped, cant work it out. Ph is 6.8, 7ish 🤷♂️ i should make it to harvest though
Scottie i love the new grow content over on this channel! But please go back to having more grow talk on the og dude grows show pleaseeee ❤
Need to do a show on pesticides and the company’s pushing bad products.Just watched vid on this subject this needs to be for awareness.
I can see overwatering becoming a problem with heatwaves and getting off schedule but like you say lift the pot and you’ll be able to feel it
I'm guilty of over loving my plants I've found less is more in most cases.
@@actionjksnthat's basically the same stuff I'm using
If you brew some compost tea,it helps make the amendments available
On my first grow i had a slight mildew smell so figured i needed more airflow, put a large oscillating fan, set it on med-low and went away for the weekend, came back and the plant closest to the fan got wind burn 😢. Luckily it wasnt toooo bad but definitely hurt my yield. Didnt know wind burn was a thing. I do now
A 4X4 tent space is 16 square feet.
Yea
× 4 = 64 CUBIC FEET 😮
Shouldve bended them over when young, enjoy your harvest though 😅
My dawg scotty. Legit 💯
Great show guys. I need to try some grow buckets they sound wonderful. 👍✔️🌱😮💨🤤🌄
Thanks, does it matter =photo versus auto?
What's your opinion on wood ash in small amounts?
Hello, my flower is drooping. Is it due to excessive watering? And what should I do? Can you help me? thanks
Growing out side watch out for tobacco worms And pray you don’t get too much rain too much rain means bud rot I found that blowing then off with leaf blower to dry off the buds and plant works pretty good
Temp and humidity drop in the winter or when ac is on in summer. Also vpd changes with temperature even if humidity is maintained
My first grow in 4x4 I did 8🤦♂️ loads of larfy crap🤦♂️ top tip….vacuum pack the larf real tight. It’s not pretty but it all sticks together and grinds up fine👍 once ground you can’t tell.
What is the optimal humidity range and do you have a chart?
I only come here for this dudes voice!
I'm curious, You mentioned something about having a tray with 1/2" water in it and you set your pots in it?
Anymore info on this?
This was helpful. Thanks guys
My most common and aggravating mistake for me is over and under watering very annoying but I give myself credit by being able to bring back mostly any sick plant I come across but after 6 yrs of indoor growing in living soil that is the mistake i commonly make I also have designs for self watering bucket system but a tip I’ve learned is using a small spray bottle and just water seedlings with that
What is some tips you would give to greenhouse growers
I just use recharge for the first time that stuff is amazing it perked my plant right up nice and green. I don’t think I’ll ever use anything else besides grow dots. That is amazing also
Awesome!
Can I flip to 12/12 at 5 weeks with the extended veg grow dots safely? I don’t always want to wait 8 weeks.
Hey Scotty😊 what you light in your grow room. Sorry für mein Englisch i'm German speak....
Good morning
My biggest mistake growing (and I still do it at times) is overcrowding. I say it's for less veg time between harvests, but I always wait to long to flower and get major overcrowding.
Some good advice: If you are serious about growing, save money in the long run, buy good equipment in the beginning like AC Infinity fans, lights, Gorilla tents, AutoPot watering system with large pots, Grow Dots, Recharge, and good soil like FoxFarm's Ocean Forest. You will be so sorry if you go for cheap equipment.
For me, lifting your plant is the only correct way to know if they need water
Try to lift a raised bed lol
I’m paralyzed on the right side so I won’t be lifting anything. I have to go by instinct.
Im guilty of vegging too long and crowding my tent almost every run, lol!
Its just too much fun to vegg them and get some good trees
I run into this same thing and find myself folding branches at week 5-6 before they max and hit my light.
I vegged to long this grow
Well, yeah, it’s like you finally, got yourself a really good root foundation. It’s a hard to stop the veg that quick.
Root and fruit fellas ! Overcrowding is no fun at all lol.
Good stuff
I'm grown outside I have a 10-foot plant that I topped what's the best way to finish growing outside
Is it 10-ft plant that I topped

Should of pollinated autos in basement but had other plants didn't want pollinated. Might have to build a cage in back yard at home next year. Just to put plants outdoors sooner to pollinate some before going up north. Don't think I got colloidal silver on autos soon enough.
i got 8 dwc buckets ATM, dont really mind it, just gotta add water every 2 days. but my diy earthbox grow was definitely less work.
While in flower i always have problems w spider mites and im growing indoors 🤷🏾♂️.
Love your uploads man👍👍
So informative.

Advanced nutrients.

Struggling to get grow dots here in Ireland guy's!!
Definitely want to try

Scotty can I use grow dots with grow bags and water wicking system.
Absolutely
@@ScottyReal420 Thank you love watching y’all cause I’ve learned so much. First time I’ve had great success.
Not to mention, if your leaves are laying up against the side of the tent, you will get powdery mildew
No not necessarily. If u have a fan going you should be ok
Hello Scotty, Do snails and/slugs like chomping on cannabis plants, if so, what do I do about it safely?
Best regards from Scotland. 🙃
yes they can destroy the leaves, best way to keep them off is make some type of barrier that makes it had for them to get to the plant. like wood chip mulch or other things they can not travel on.
They will still work will the short autos you just won't have them fade out as much at the end, but they work great on the 90day strains
Can you reuse dirt that an old batch of plants died in for a new batch of plants but end up with a great new batch growing like the dirt is new?
Also Scotty did you guys see how many brands failed for pesticides recently like jungle boys stizy and 23 other large brands I can't believe it but ya some failed for over 20 pesticides (stizy being 1) and some of these are multi state operations be careful out there or simply grow ur own
Hey Scotty. Is there a way to get some info on grow dots? Where do I get questions answered?

Can you use the dots hydroponiclly
Too many plants and all eat differently too. Have had every issue but spider mites were the worst. Also don’t over love because after 17 years I’ve done it early and later. Sometimes if I’m low like now I’ll do 2 of10-12 gallons in a 4x4 and got about 2lbs or so. Usually like 4 in 3-7. Have a smaller 2.5x2.5 foot but like the bigger
Scotty I think we have the same play book perpetual grower veg lights 20 in lower then flower works
Is that your real voice, or just a voice you use to try to make the video sound exciting?
PH seems to still be an unknown to me. Using promix hp mainly with a little coco and warm castings I dont know what the PH is in that to begin with. I use Advanced nutrients which claims to be PH balanced. Recently got a cheap 20$ Ph meter to check the soil but I see no consistant readings enough to know for sure where I stand in PH. Maybe Scotty you could explain some of that more in detail in another video.
I'm really struggling with over and under watering. Trying out CocoLoco right now but gonna try an actual coco run soon though, when I got the space for another plant.
Try adding in good soil to mix the coco at only 20 percent soil with perlite. Works really good
I like to drip feed coco works best when i keep it wet. love canna coco
Great show
How does that "Half weight" thing work? Does the plant not gain weight when it grows? How do you plan for half weight when you don't know how much weight the plant gained?
Hey, uh, these grow dots, they sound like everlasting gobstoppers for plants...are they layered too?
Thank you.
