OMG, Dan. You're a perfect mix of Oscar Peterson and Vince Guaraldi! Were these two icons still alive, I'm sure they would enjoy your performance. I'm in awe!
Daniel Horton Well Dan,....maybe that's why the other Dan swings so much! If we all loosen-up a bit it would perhaps be a "better" world all around than what we now have. So lets keep swinging/relaxing and be more tolerant towards each other. Cheers from Australia.
I've been to Budapest a few times and good to see that they have a healthy-thriving Jazz-scene there. Well, what more can i say about Dan and his men. An absolute fabulous trio who've been playing for close to 10 years or so, now. Hope to see them one of these days in the flesh. You can't beat a live-performance. Thanks for uploading this great trio which is very good recorded, so enjoy & Cheers!
A very consonant player in the traditional piano trio style. Bitching block chords, baby! Nowadays unfortunately this kind of music does not gain a lot of traction in the US, which is why you see Dan mostly performing with a better-known headliner like Wynton Marsalis, and when he's got a trio engagement it's in Europe or South America. Sometimes it makes me wish I lived there.
Agreed, Paul That's the US's loss. They bred him and chose to replace his talent with the crapola of today's so-called "performers." Dan *makes* music. The others *manufacture* music. Any idiot can do that.
3:28 Love how he uses Red Garland's block chord style
I could watch Pete van Nostrand play drums all day. Incredible chops and wonderful time feel & swing. Great trio.

One of my favorite piano players of all time, what a burnin night!
What amazes me is how relaxed Dan is especially his wrists
