@BeechSundowner Thanks for the note of encouragement. I have enjoyed following your videos for some time now. Lots of manufacturing here in Ohio, maybe that has a little to do with the brown haze. KLUK is a short flight for me but if you're ever back up in Ohio stop in the Sky Galley restaurant at Lunken's old terminal building where American Airlines started. Good food & neat atmosphere. Tailwinds, Charley
Hamilton Airport (I remember the Hogan family who used to own it) to Lunken for burger and fries. . I loved this path in a '56 172, 6471B. I was an Explorer Scout and we flew this 172 for $5.hour wet, tied down by the T hangers. We stripped the paint off and then could not afford to paint it. Thanks for the post and the memories--that time honored route to Sky Galley
FYI...Cessna 6471B did eventually get repainted. My father (Jack Silvernell) and Butch (??) bought the plane when I was a teenager. They had the engine rebuilt, the interior reupholstered, and the plane painted. I learnt how to fly in that plane. She loved to fly. I understand home for her is now in Bethpage, TN. I would sure love to see her again. Maybe someday.
Thanks for the comment. 5VA is a great ship too. Pretty nicely maintained for a trainer ( the best I've seen to date). I've got a video on UA-cam of all the Victory planes except the Saratoga. Hopping to different strips is a good way to pass the day. Learned to fly at Lebanon (I68) and that field and the practice area east towards Caesars Creek is a personal favorite.
I'm in Victory Aviation! I fly N9515Q around somewhat often. I was just up hopping around some local strips in 5VA today actually.
Great compilation. I have to wonder what is in that Ohio air as the haze sure is brown! That was the weirdest thing I noticed when I went to 2G2
