Glad to see they seem to be focusing on a major theme of Halo which was *Humanity is in a losing war fighting for it's very existence". It really feels like the whole military was on vacation last season.
The Covenant War was so weird in the first season , it felt like it was almost a cold war instead of like a desperate survival from alien genocide. It's so jarring for them to be like "wow we are on death's door now"
The regular citizen probably didn't know of how bad the war was going until towards the end. Atleast that is what I've gathered.

@@trevorhogen7761 last season was a cringe medical drama with Spartans, but on UNSC base and stuff, the Covenant were so uninvolved in a effective way in the story, and it was no good tension.
I didn't see Kwan, that would be an awesome improvement for the second season.

Same here. Like while we have never seen his full face in the games he does in fact take his helmet off in front of people in universe. So its not that huge a deal for tv show to me.

I’m not gonna lie, the overall tone of this trailer captures the essence of Humanity in Halo; An _unwinnable_ fight against a insurmountable enemy, with humanity relentlessly refusing to fade into the dark quietly. The score and the speech in the background really captured that sobering reality!

If they literally just make this a gritty Reach styled survival story, we will be set. It’s all we really want. This trailer gives me heavy Forward Unto Dawn vibes-so that atmosphere leading up to the discovery of the first halo would be really cool.

As a massive Halo fan, 1st season didn’t hit with me at all but I’m willing to keep giving this show a chance. So far looks like they listened to fan feedback but we’ll see.

i dont have high hopes, but if they did then forerunners be praised.
It looks like it at least has a bigger budget so the scope of the war is captured.
Am also a huge fan, not a fan of this silver timeline, but the "moments" when it feels like Halo is what Im gonna be looking for, they were few and far between in season 1, but those small moments made me keep watching.
well they apparently booted the original showrunners, which is a start I suppose. All they need to do now is just focus on John-117 instead of OC side characters (and plot lines) no one cared about, and write him more as Master Chief instead of Commander Shepard-lite like in S1.
Finally the covenant being an actual threat to humanity!
The Covenant look Great in this Series just like I'm Hoping we see Hunters and Covenant Vehicles/Space Battles.
Latch on to anything you like, the show is still a hollow shell of its source material.
That will probably be in the first and last episode lol

Speak for yourself. I’ve got five great games that perfectly encapsulate what Halo is, should be, and what I want from it. You know you’ve dropped the ball when 20 year old games have more competent story-telling, cinematography, and world-building.

@@97javic They don't though. No Halo game really had good storytelling. They series as a whole has a great storytelling thanks to novels and other tie ins, but the game's themselves mostly have very barebones and weakly told stories.

I 100% expect to see Nathan Fillion in this season reprising his role as Buck during the fall of Reach which will eventually lead to a moment in Season 7 (after another writers strike or something) where Chief, the Weapon, and Buck find a slip space link to the multiverse which will ultimately end with Nathan Fillion pointing to himself.

As a huge Halo fan since CE I really want this season to be great but after season 1 (which had some really cool moments ngl) im really hoping for something more along the lines of the game. Forward Unto Dawn was awesome and I'm hoping S2 kinda captures that element of fear with the covenant

Exactly. If they can follow the lore of the games/books and create something with the same vibes as the Forward Unto Dawn film there is no ceiling for what this series can achieve...dozens of seasons, movies, etc. I will be hooked for life.
Ironically I’ve never played Halo (PlayStation owner since PS1) so I wouldn’t know what diehard fans like yourself would know. So I liked the 1st season. I’m a huge Star Trek who grew up watching The Next Generation, so I was ecstatic when they announced Picard was returning, but they dropped the ball with the first 2 seasons. My point is that the third and final season delivered what the first 2 should’ve been, and fans loved it! Hopefully the same will happen for Halo Season 2 and beyond.

For everyone who keeps complaining about Master Chief taking his helmet off - stop. Why? It won't be good. You can't do the video game version of Master Chief in a TV show or movie. It will be terrible. If the main character cannot express human emotion, then the bulk of it will need to come from the supporting cast. It will be strange to watch.
I do think they need to make a less emotionally vulnerable version of Chief. Instead they need to focus his conflicts around making tough decisions on the battlefield which may compromise human life, or doing investigative work in a race against the Covenant to find the Halo rings. A huge element of the first Halo games was also the mystery of the Forerunners, the artifacts and relics they left behind, the Forerunner histories and the reason for the Halo's creation, and of course the Flood. You always wanted to come back for more after they dropped those little hints about the Forerunners in the original video games.
I think Master chief did just fine showing emotion in the games. With his helmet on.

there was an actual lore reason why the mandalorian did it. There is no lore reason why MC keeps his helmet on and is purely an in game thing. Even in the books he doesnt keep his helmet on 24/7 and it would make no sense to do it in the show.@@baconator953

@Cloudy222 id change ALOT. For starters, I'd make sure Master Chief's helmet never gets taken off. I'd focus the story more on the Covenants attacks on the outer colonies in search for Forerunner artifacts. The chief gets dispatched to help. They end up finding a halo ring and the rest of the show would take place on there. Season 1 could focus on the colonies being attacked and the UNSC trying to figure out why the covenant seem to be searching for something. Season ends with them finding a halo ring. Season 2 is the race for control of the ring.
The show had terrible writing and the story made no sense.
I have given up on hoping they will make the master chief be like the master chief we have in the games. From now on I just hope the story and execution becomes better and can be taken more seriously than last season. The action was solid so hopefully we get more of that this season
TBH Chief never should have been in the show to begin with; if you're gonna make him such a radical departure from the character, then why even use him at all?
KAI should have been the main character; fully original, easily the most likable one in the cast, and her emotional breakout was done a whole lot better than John's

Really hope we see a covenant super carrier from the ground pov. Like in halo reach it just blocks out the sky... side note. Would love a nod to noble team maybe near the end of the season when they get of reach cause of them then find halo. Oh man the potential here 😊
The potential is there, but again that would be a problem if they don't achieve some of that potential because then they really should have just followed Halo Wars then time jumped into Reach and then into Combat Evolved like the source materials did.
The covenants larger ships of the line were so huge that it would probably nearly rival plutos size
I'm surprised they went through with a second season after they essentially killed Master Chief in the last episode. Hopefully this season resonates with fans a bit more.

How hard is it to just follow the source material that made Halo a house hold name in the first place. Trailer looks epic and more action focused and apocalyptic, hopefully the show delivers. Everyone has given up on this except for the Halo fans bcos we know how good it can get.

This first look already brings the duality of tone that the first season sorely lacked: Hope in the midst of hopelessness. HALO is a story of hope. This first looks gives me hope.

Wow season 1 of Halo looks really good. You know, I had a really bad dream a year ago or so about a Halo show where Halsey was the villain and Chief took off his armor for most of the show. Glad that never happened.
Jokes aside, this looks pretty good. Hopefully they’re able to improve upon what they did last season, and I wouldn’t be opposed if they retconned some stuff
Halsey being a villain actually fits pretty well with canon lore. Her actions and attitudes were straight out of the prequel novel. Need I remind you she was arrested in the game universe? And given that large amounts of time in the show were outside of combat, which never happens in the game, I don't see why Chief wouldn't have taken off his armor. He's a Spartan, not a Mandalorian.

I think this will definitely be better than the first season due to action, and an elevated covenant threat. I also think it will still deviate from the game because I don't think the writers have actually played the campaigns or read the books.
Agreed. They just are writing their own story, as if someone just told them about halo over coffee one day and they thought some elements were cool.

I do recall them stating that the TV show is a spin off. Not 100% based on any other source materials and as a hardcore Halo fan since 2001, I'm fine with this. I enjoyed the first season despite the weirdly added romance even though I can believe it all to be possible.
Fans expected the first season to not be a spin off and got upset by it despite the news of the show being a spin off. I can however understand those people because almost all of the Halo media is canon to the Halo universe. They are not used to seeing spin offs of something that has never really gotten any until this TV show.
They have already been open about not playing the game or the books. They literally were open about this.
The whole point is to not make it a 100% copy. Because you would still have people crying and complaining if your trying to make it as accurate as possible.
It’s HALO but based on its own story, can’t be better then that. Because it opens up for more creativity & options to the story. 🫡
This is exactly what I want from a Halo TV Show. The tone and visuals look incredible.
I never played Halo before, but as a TV series I liked the first season. I understand the hate from gamers.

The first season was what The Walking Dead turned into, people arguing and then there are zombies. SOOO much dumb drama in the first season.
they’re the worst type of people. i grew up playing halo and i loved this show. it followed and combined the games so well.
This looks great. It hits exactly the tone I would expect from Halo. But the trailer for the first season was also good. I don't want to get my hopes up, but nowadays, trailer cutting has become the definition of a clickbait by setting a completely different tone and giving us false expectations.
I really hope they will deliver what they promise here in this trailer - humanity struggling to survive and Master Chief being an instrument of war, trying to stop whatever the covenant is doing.

@@nono-yb1po Same. Knowing that the TV show is a spin off allows for you to relax your shoulders and just enjoy a different take on Halo, a universe we all love. I think their take on Dr. Halsey in season 1 was way better than all the games and the books so far. She is a villain and the show perfectly depicted it.
Halo recently really has the trend to get immensely better as time goes on after its initial releases. I could see the TV show go the same route oddly enough 😅

All they had to do was make movies that are based Halo 1-3 or do a series but movies would have been better.

Beautiful seeing Covenant ships coming and glassing the planet just like in the video games and the Elites with their swords fighting. I can't wait next year for season 2! Looks better than season 1 for sure! More Covie talk too and see Atriox once again knowing him he'll show up.
This makes season 1 look like a 2008 Syfy show. Aesthetically a big jump in the right direction. We'll see about the actual story.

It's my favorite game ever and singing and season. 2 definitely makes me happy. I feel like season 2 might be better. Like granted I am really wanting this to be cannon. But and what the hack let's just hold season two is actually good

my dad loved it and played halo for so long. we bonded over playing that game and i grew up playing it. i loved the show as well

Visually, it's stunning, I really love the visuals. The story on the other hand in the first season, it lacked. I really hope this one is less of a love story and more of a heroic tale.
This looks so incredible. It tells exactly what Halo IS. Lots of really cool segments. The ships rising out of the fog and the glassing beams looked very well done. But the Elite with the energy sword really took my breath away. The trailer sure lives up to the hype, hopefully the show follows.

I am not a fan of Season 1. All the things that made Halo so great were not there. But seeing this trailer gives me a bit of hope that maybe they listened to the viewers and fixed all the issues with Season 1 and that this is the beginning of a great Halo TV show. Of course, we still have to wait and see if it is actually a good show but I am slightly optimistic.
How could that have listened and fixed the show when the very first clip in here is Master Cheeks with hos helmet off? They haven't heard anything.

Honestly, apart from a b plot that wasn't very strong with Kwan, the 1st season was electrifying as a character study. The acting and arcs of Halsey, Chief, Kai, even Cortana was excellent. All the Spartans had a vibe that made sense in silver team, no weak links. There were actual stakes, people died, which allows your emotions to be engaged and wonder/care for the safety of the characters you root for. To achieve the tension between morality with Halsey and Makee was great storytelling. Reminds me of Frankenstein. Who's the monster and who's the human, who's the bad and who's the good? This next season looks like it will solidify a foundation that can be built upon for many seasons to come. Pablo shines in this series and carries the weight and mantle of 117 more than admirably. Bravo. Let's, as fans, cheers on the good decisions and develop good communication with the creative team so as to see the best of Halo come forward...unto dawn.
i really have to BELIEVE that this season is gonna bring the show back from the depths. If it fails, then theres trully no saving it.

I wish someone creative could get a real film budget to make a movie faithful to the real story line. It's a great story line, I don't understand this trend of buying film rights to something just to change every single thing about it other than the title and some a few aesthetics.

And also they seem like they look at a thing, and instead of taking whats trully good and what people like about it, they just scrape the most surface level stuff and roll it into a ball, and then call it, in this instance Halo.
Like why? Halo really isnt just "human goverment has a big green man and they fight some aliens". Its so much deeper than that, it has so much stuff to be explored, yet they dont care.

Honestly i have some hope for this season. Its giving off Halo vibes now compared to the first season. Although i would've adapted both the books and the game together while making some minor changes just to keep things somewhat fresh
You expect these people to read books and play video games of the source materials that they are paid 10's of millions of dollars to do? In this day and age we call that delulu expectations. Just look at the last 10 years of film making and adaptations.

there has never been a show that I want to be great more than this, the potential for one of the greatest sci-fi stories in history. there is so much rich lore to be explored.

I'm gonna be devils advocate here. I liked season 1 a lot. It's not canon so I found it to be an enjoyable and unique take on the halo universe. I can understand why people are upset about chief not having his helmet on for like 60% of the show but I didn't mind personally. The action sequences were phenomenal and I stand by that statement. Can't wait for season 2

On the next season of "destroying fan-favorite IPs: Halo edition" the fans are given a trailer showing promising, true-to-halo scenes that will inevitably be proven to be out of context for the show writers poor scripts and directors disastrous vision for what makes Halo, Halo.
