Lol, you guys definitely are not from here. I did the same when I first moved here. The locals corrected me all the time. Javelina is pronounced with an H. Mt. Lemon even though it has two m's. The g is silent in suguaro. You gotta remember the amount of spanish influence we have here. I love Arizona. And its cool to see ppl exploring and enjoying Tucson and the surrounding area. 🌵🌵🌵🌴🌴🌴
Those jumping cactus called cholla (pronounced choiyah) are your worst nightmare. The spines are soft so it moves and attaches to your skin like Velcro. You have to use pliers to pull them out and they take flesh with them. A tip if you get one in you is to wrap a sock around to stop it and get a pair of pliers.
When I lived in Tucson I would carry a large comb in my pocket. If a cholla ball ever was stuck to my arms or clothing, I would pull out my comb and just comb the entire clump of cactii off.
I kicked one rolling ball and the freaking thing got stuck to my steel toe boot, kind of freaked me out. Lol
I was just watching a video about cholla. Those things are scary!!!!
THe cactus wood he played like a horn was from a Teddy Bear Cholla. The Cholla with the fluffier thorns are the Teddy Bear Chollas (AKA jumping Cactus) and the Less Densely thorned variety are Stag Horn Cholla--Both Members of the Opuntia Family of Cacti such as the Baselarius and even Prickly Pear....
Here is an example of how the Cholla act like Velcro. ua-cam.com/video/rygGPi3HKNQ/v-deo.html
By far my favorite UA-cam channel!!! I watch you guys Non-Stop and really enjoy your videos💯👍🌲🔥
I was born and raised in Tucson 🌵 love it so much!
Visited both parts of the Saguaro National Park and Mt. Lemmon in November 2018 - and I totally agree with all your comments, and can only recommend Tucson and the south part of Arizona for road trips. Looking forward to come back. Thanks for a great video - Cheers from Denmark :-)
Wow! Makes me proud to call Tucson my hometown (grew up hiking in Saguaro East and Sabino Canyon). Great videography and you all picked excellent places to visit. I look forward to more Tucson and AZ vlogs.
If you have the chance head south to bisbee arizona cute town nice mountain range and interesting history
"We're going to change our breakfast because we eat too much sweets". Goes to Cookie Cabin. Lol
🤣
Thank you for giving details about the life and death of the cactus and the huge size of the tallest one. Very interesting. You are the only ones giving more of these kinds of details. Very much appreciated.
It's pronounced Mt. "Lemon" like the fruit.
I love driving up the Mt during the summer. Drops at least 20°
The northern state of Mexico is named Sonora. Which is the same name of the desert you are in , the Sonoran Desert.
Also Chihuahua--which I like much better
Jonathan needs his own UA-cam channel! He's good at commercials!
You guys missed the Sabino Creek hike. It's so pretty with running water an water falls this time of year.
OMG, you guys are in my backyard. It's so rewarding to see you all enjoying Tucson. Happy 2021!
Yes ! I was thinking the same thing , it’s so awesome to see them enjoy our home with such excitement !
Javelina pronounced "Havelina", just saying. Great Vlog! Happy New Year!
it made me chuckle to hear them say that lol
MT Lemon is called a sky island because it is surrounded by desert on all sides. It is a unique habitat which takes you in elevation through every temperate zone.
Next time your in southeast Arizona check out Chiracahua Mountains, Huachuca Mountains and possibly Ramsey canyon… beautiful areas with amazing hiking and camping !!!
Watch your guys videos every upload love you guys!! alway camp at the coolest places!!
Cody, I love your excitement over all the great places you all go to. Every one is the "Best". It is nice to see each one just gets better and better. Very enjoyable.
New sub here. I wanted to see your Tucson vid. It's my home. Actually I live in Sahuarita in the hills.
You guys are getting so much flack for how you pronounced things. Geesh. "Just don't call me Late For Dinner."
Javelinas are aggressive, but they're so ugly, they're cute.
Those jumping cacti will actually "jump". It's like a static attraction. They hurt. I always said I'd plant some outside my kids windows if they ever snuck out.
I hope you guys get to come back. There is so much to see in Arizona. Sedona is just gorgeous. I like it better than the Grand Canyon. Start on I-10 from Tucson. Get on a back road trip north toward Flagstaff. It's phenomenal. Montezuma's Castle is cool to see. Close to it they have actual adobe dwellings that you can get in. People wonder how our ancestors survived in the heat. Brilliant engineers. Those dwellings are nice and cool in the summer.
Good footage guys. Arizona has some beautiful landscape but the important thing is that food. I say you always eat better outdoors than at home.
You guys should’ve done the 7 falls hike! It’s one of my favorites but I think it’s around an 8 mile hike round trip. The falls are beautiful!
We wanted to. Maybe next time
Great video guys. Johnathan is really starting to come outta his shell on video. Absolutely beautiful views.
My back yard, hiked these trails for years. there are petroglyphs all over Tucson Area.
Correct, jumping *OUCHES!*
I love the area for the diverse topography so beautiful thank you for the video
In texas we call em hava leenas 🤙/ thanks for taking us along on the journey
It was so fun watching you all experience the beautiful sonoran desert that I have experienced many times over. Thank you.
Here I am going back and watching your slower and relaxed camping vlogs. There is something relaxing about watching people do camping things. It always makes me want to go camping!
Cheers to a wonderful summer for you and yours! And may the skies be clear and the Sun shine but not too strong.😊
Awesome! Thank you!
very nicely done! been thru that area on my way further south. looks like i am going to have to spend a lot more time there. will be moving to about an hour south. can't wait. love most things about arizona ☺
Absolutely gorgeous views from upon that mountain 🤩 wow
It was!
Growing up in the Southwest, we got to camp and hike in that type of landscape a bunch! Thank you for reminding us how lucky we were and how beautiful the Southwest is. Great video. Keep up the great work and stay safe.
Great video, glad you got to enjoy Tucson. FYI It's pronounced "Havalina" and Mount "Lemon"
I worked at a laser production company in tucson and we actually use the cactus needles to clean the bars of the laser because the bars are like glass and the cactus won't cause scratching to get off any gunk. Pretty crazy. We'd just go outside and get some cactus needles and bring them in just for that.
😲 that’s wild!
It’s pronounced “Havelina.” They are a Peccary and not a hog. Really cool animals, if you get to see one.
...sadly the best close ups you'll get is on the side of the road as they are often struck by vehicles
Wiry hair, super though skin, and nasty teeth (they eat cactus., I've been told)
If you hike in the Starr Pass area, you'll see plenty of them.
Lol, javelina eat at the " salad bar" in our yards.
Yeah really cool when it’s a pack at your front door and you’re stumbling home drunk at 3am.
The Javelina love to eat junk food out of the trash left from students at Pima College, west campus.
Jonathan makes me smile 🤗
❤ Az. We go to Gold Canyon, every winter. Great hikes there.
well,i guess i will move there,summer all winter,,,,,great video,,,
Thanks for sharing about the cactus. I didn't know that happened to cactus. So love you guys adventures.
I found it funny when watching this video and hearing you say you were making something new for breakfast. When you watch your videos backwards in order or jump around I had seen you have it a couple times. Don't know why I found it funny but guess I didn't think of the order I'm watching.
Those shots Codi did with the drone are amazing..nice nice video today guys
Welcome to my home town! Hope you all had a good time! I go to Mt Lemmon often and still get the same feeling you did stopping at Windy point.
I don't think you want Walmart to ever venture into showers.
Yours is the best video I've seen of Tucson! I've been to all the places you visited. It took me two tries to hike Blacketts Ridge trail. It's funny hearing you miss-pronounce all these words: javelina is pronounced "havelina", saguaro or sahuaro is pronounced "sawaro" and Mt. Lemmon is pronounced "Mt. Lemon".
That's my favorite Hummus as well. Next time for the Garlic maybe just get the Garlic Hummus. Its amazing.
My goodness! Since you get so excited by beautiful views, I suggest you go home by way of southern CO. The Rio Grande National Forest is awesome. But that’s way out of your way. Try Gila National Forest in NM... lots of petroglyphs.
I’m happy to see you guys in Az. If possible drive the Forest road 300 near Payson It’s also known as rim road (mogollon) Another old favorite of the family is the North Rim of the Grand Canyon near Kanab,Utah
Great vlog! I hiked Sabino Canyon a few years ago in June. It was 106 degrees. So, yeah, you picked a good time to go.
Being a desert rat from AZ I NEVER get tired of seeing y'all enjoying the beauty of my great state 48!! 😊Sometime y'all need to add a good hike to an Anasazi cliff dwelling in AZ, truly beautiful! I love the petroglyphs, unfortunately, many stupid tourists or kids destroy those petroglyphs with paint and other forms of graffiti. VERY upsetting! But I'm glad y'all got to enjoy some 😊 PLUS, you must stop by the Kartchner Caverns southeast of Tucson next time! It is beautiful and you won't believe how much cooler it is in those cave-like caverns! VERY COOL! 😊
The skiing at Mt Lemmon is the furthest south in the country where you can ski.
the snow there though is like a hard slushie, throwing a snow ball is more like throwing a hard cube of ice packed together. its 0 powder!
Thanks love Tucson.
I'm sure I will remember O Lite. 👍🤣🤣🤣
Can you imagine the silver rush miners who lived in that intense place without modern conveniences like air conditioning. What do you do when it’s 110 degrees outside and hotter inside! Dust and sweat were a way of life.
Hard men indeed!
Awesome Adventures be safe
I love you guys you’re such Inspiration
The Saguaro grows arms for balance. So arms themselves are not an indicator of age, but of slope conditions or soil conditions. The root system for Saguaros is very shallow so they do all of their balancing and anchoring from above.
Really, very interesting
I know every back road, old wagon trail, Indian ruins, that people don't even know about all over that area... You could drop me off in the middle of that desert with nothing in the dead of summer there and I could walk right back out again fat healthy and happy...!!
Nice video of my backyard. Lots of great adventures. Good job in showing the area.
Such a fun video to watch! Tucson is my home..So blessed to live here. 🌵☀️
I've lived here since 2006. Yall should be here in april may time frame. All the desert flowers will be in bloom..... usually.
Definitely have to check out Seven Falls next time you're back!
Got to check out 7 falls when the snow melts of during the monsoons
Probably the best hike in Tucson
We love the image quality of your videos as well as your content. Thank you for sharing. We could pause and examine those petroglyphs and some looked like Aztec or earlier! We have so many places we want to see due to watching your vlog. Be safe and dont stop being you.
Hey guys, Oddly enough we are also in Tucson. Been here at an RV park for a few days, headed to a park outside of Sedona on Saturday.
Another great vlog!!!! Great to see Jonathan :) Award winning photography, again!!!!! Safe travels......
Cookie got the munchies 😂😁😋
Another great vlog and thanks for taking us along! Now smash that thumbs up button Campers.
Wow! Indeed
I live in Tucson it’s an amazing place 👌🏼💯
You should consider going north of Tucson on HWY 77 to the Aravaipa Canyon. Camping Hiking permits at parking lot 10 miles up road from Hwy 77. You won't regret it
lol Javelinas followed me to work once, though it didn't attack. It will if babies are present though D:!
Oh and next time you are in the Sonoran Desert? Bring a Black light... An actual Black light to camp... Those lights make Bark Scorpions glow in the dark like HARD from yards away!
Amazed you didn't see a snake, though I suppose 60º is too cold.
AT Mt. Lemmon! When you caught the drone?! YOU WERE RIGHT NEXT TO THE ENTRANCE TO A TRAIL! The closed Road at the end of the parking lot- ( Right side if you freeze @ 24:41 looks like a red plastic fence blocking a road.) at the top of Mt Lemmon? There's a road there you can take on foot. Its not long, It leads to the Mt Lemmon Sky Center Observatory. Nearby is the " Mt Lemmon Trail Head Entrance".
"Street Lore"
EVERY restaurant you saw was closed for a long time when the mountain burned up years ago now. If you would have taken some of the trails up there you would have seen evidence of it still present. Burnt tree trunks still stand in some places
Cool!
I live in Tucson, been where you guys were. Never heard of your channel before but now I'm a fan. You got my Sub guys!
Freaking awesome video guys! Nice work. My wife and I were there at the end of Dec. 2020 and summitted Mt. Wesson in Saguaro East on the Norris trail. Thumbs up!
Awesome, as always. Drone footage...amazing. Thabks.
Oh and I love your sticker collection Cody!!!!😎
Great view from that Mountain.
Wow! The cactus are huge! I’m not sure what you called that chilli pasta dish? Looked Amazing!!!
Chili Mac or some people call it goulash
That cactus you first showed at the beginning is old. Ive heard that 1 arm takes about 100 years to grow!
Nice video, Like n.662 and Happy New Year from Italy :)
Man that "hav-a-lina" part was killing me. Born and raised in tucson. Some of this stuff I've never seen. Crazy.. cool video though.
happy new years to you guys, another awesome video, the scenery was amazing, Kelly your cooking rocks, I love your guys channel,
take and see you on the other
Oh! You guys should try shakshuka for breakfast. It's a semi-healthy breakfast that we've made on our camp stove. It's a crushed tomato base, onion, peppers, cilantro, and you poach the eggs in it. We eat it with garlic toast. Very easy and super yummy.
This is my typical breakfast lol. Very delicious one.
@@toeksh It's so good! It is my favorite breakfast. :)
Thank you for taking us with you on these trips
Stunning scenery.
Yum breakfast!
I lived, camped, and hunted there for 35 years. you ought to visit in mid-summer with rattlesnakes and scorpions. temp of 115. now that's an adventure.
You guys should check out Madera canyon south of Tucson
Y’all never cease to amaze!! ❤️
WoW I never thought i would see snow in this video as Cody would say "this place is so cool "and it was
There is a ski resort there I believe. I know there is a ski lift. Just take a drive up Mt. Lemmon. It’s so cold up there this time of year.
Awesome work brother! Beautiful video.
That was just beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Tucson has a lot to offer. Beautiful vlog.
Wow toast, humus & tomatoes looks delicious
It’s beautiful there. I love that drive.
Happy New Years guys, thanks for showing us some new camping areas Arizona looked beautiful.
Thx for sharing, adding this to my road trip on the way to California 🤗
Headed to he same area in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the views.
Great video. We just went to Saguaro west. I wish we would have gone to MT. Lemmon. Oh well, Gotta go back...not sad lol
The cactus that was dead is really cool. I had no idea.
That cactus is crazy!!!
I have always wanted to see Saguaro cactus in person. I need to make it that way.
We spend nearly a month in yall's neck of the woods, well Arkansas. I love all y'alls Arkansas videos. It's the last great place that seems undiscovered to the masses. I hope it stays that way! Lol
We do too
