  • My ultimate guide on how to box up bulk trading cards so that you can maximize what fits in the box, minimize the time it takes to put it in the box, but ultimately, and most importantly, make sure all the cards arrive at their destination in the same condition that they were in when you put them in the box. Hope it helps you all!

    Hello Chase! I am starting my journey selling cards on TCGPlayer this weekend. I certainly appreciate the time you take to share your experiences! I started playing MTG in the winter of 1993 and stopped after Ice Age. Then I started playing again in 2016 to 2019. I sold every card I had in one sale. There were a number of reasons why, but I really wasn't playing towards the end because the local card shops were permanently closing down where I live. Now I have started amassing cards again. I really enjoy the cards and I am looking to be part of the sales community. I have a full-time career job, but I am always looking for extra income to support my family. I have posted some cards and I am watching to make my first 2 sales soon. Thanks for all of the great content!

    Hey man, just wanted to say content like this is one of my favorite reasons I got into trading cards. There's tons of good people like you who really just love what they are doing and enjoy sharing their information, and it's a beautiful niche where everyone isn't trying to protect some clandestine proprietary market edge. The market just seems to sustain itself from mostly good people giving a damn about it. Thoughts from a guy who makes part of his living in some other cutthroat sellout markets and is slowly transitioning to things like this because it's actually enjoyable and you don't have to pull teeth to find good resources offered by good people. It's a rarity to find content on UA-cam that isn't poisoned by advertising or masking profits for profit. Anyways, keep it up and thanks for doing what you do

      That's really humbling, I'm glad to have had any impact on you at all. Thank you so much for your kind words, my heart is growing today =] A lot of noise is made about the bad actors, but it is very very much the minority of interactions in this arena. Avoid the echo chambers that magnify them and you'll be sure to keep a good mindset, given what you're coming in with

    Here’s a video idea. How to pack orders that you send to tcg if you are a direct seller and every way you shop depends on how many cards you are sending in.

      I could do something like that 😁

    Big fan of reinforcing edges, to mitigate crumbling/crushing. Also u-line packaging (8x8x4 for ETB’s & Booster boxes).

    Seems pretty solid, but I would still probably drop strips of cardboard between the rows and put a square of cardboard over the bottom layer just for added protection. Might lose out on a bit of space for those cards you put in team bags, but would definitely keep me from sweating it out to see if the shipment arrived to its destination in tact.

    • @TCGBulkKings
      @TCGBulkKings  5 місяців тому +1

      Probably won't hurt anything, but over literally hundreds of these, I've had zero complaints about damage except one order where the box was completely destroyed, which would have happened no matter what I did outside of coating it with steel lol

    • @DavidWelker
      @DavidWelker 5 місяців тому +1

      @@TCGBulkKingsadd the fact that most of this is bulk, I don’t think you should have many complaints either way. By all means, don’t change what works, right? I’m just used to the Lego collecting world, and have always double and triple fortified shipments. I’ve received bulk boxes of cards though, with no protection, cards shuffling everywhere, and was ecstatic to go through them regardless of a few being damaged. 😂 The same sender who sent that bulk had to send me two bulk packages though because the first didn’t even make it to my house. My guess is the first shipment was packed the same way, and didn’t quite stay in one piece during handling.
      Keep up the good work! You’ve taught me a lot in the tcg world!

    Honestly if you sent this into TCG SYP you'd probably have it sent back. They would demand you put everything in 600-800 count boxes.

    That box holds less than 5000 cards... If you are selling bulk i would highly recommend flat rate boxes as you can fit over 6000 cards in. Most bulk that extra 1000 helps pay for shipping. Just seems counter productive since you also have to buy the box and it fits less cards.

    • @TCGBulkKings
      @TCGBulkKings  5 місяців тому +3

      It doesn't hold less than 5k. It costs ~$20 to ship a flat rate large box with 6k cards. Depending on distance it costs $8-12 to ship this. It costs less than $1 for the box.
      Say it's magic bulk. 6k gets you $30; minus $20 to ship you're only netting $10. My boxes hold 5k, so $25 paid out, minus average $11 to ship, netting $14.

      @@TCGBulkKings if you are using a 12x9x6 and only doing 6 rows at 9 inches and 4inchs of cards on the end you do not get to the 62 1/2 inches to make 5000 cards.

    • @TCGBulkKings
      @TCGBulkKings  5 місяців тому +1

      @@kyledaugherty2281 sure, it looks like I may have slightly overestimated the number of cards. It's slightly less than 5k by that measure. The couple hundred cards difference is far less than the other cost calculations. Thank you for pointing out my slight overestimation, I really appreciate that kind of accountability

    Approximately how much cards would you guess are in there if pack tightly exactly like that?

    • @Mr.Kite26
      @Mr.Kite26 5 місяців тому +1

      my question too! Big reason i've been using the large flat rate is the amount that I can fit in there for the shipping cost

    • @TCGBulkKings
      @TCGBulkKings  5 місяців тому

      Friends in the thickness of the cards, holds a little more than whatever a 3800 count BCW box holds (like 4.5 rows). Just over 5k standard TCG cards, maybe 6k smaller Japanese sized cards, and about 4k sports cards

    • @TCGBulkKings
      @TCGBulkKings  5 місяців тому

      Even if you use the flat rates, pack them with this method. But comparable ground advantage rates through discount programs like pirate ship save a good deal

    So you sell and buy bulk?

    • @TCGBulkKings
      @TCGBulkKings  5 місяців тому

      Yep. I buy bulk and break it up for singles to sell, but I also provide bulk in large lots with certain guarantees (condition, category, unpicked), for a bit above my buy price, so that other card sellers can have access to inventory when they have difficulty securing it for themselves. Let's me not have to store huge amounts of inventory that would take me a long time to get through, and let's me be able to say yes to larger collections.
