My question is you need to start day trading before you apply for trader status to show to IRS i match there standard requirements? Or apply first trader status ? Before you start the day trade?
Trader status is assessed at year end. It’s circumstantial evidence you must prove

Outsized losses.. if your trading options look at ES or MES or SPX have no wash sales and better tax rate
