I just passed a prop firm challenge. Can I set up a trading llc and trade with the prop firms capital? Would I need to qualify for trader Tax status to take advantage of writing off monitors,new letters, etc. also to have the income taxes as earned income not passive capital gains? I'm confused. I thought it is only AFTER you request trader tax status, that the data must show the criteria to maintain the status, not before.

If the requirement is no earned income.. the k-1 would still show income being passed to you..
