POWERNATION I just inherited my grampas 55 f100 and its going to need a lot of work Im good working on cars but I doubt I have all the tools and know how to be able to do the truck any justice... I think ill start saving up and maybe you guys can do the restoration if you guys are interested.
Well, just got recommended this video, and I was like "huh, that truck looks familiar". Well 2 nights ago my very small town in south carolina had a summer concert, and some old vehicles showed up. Well, sure enough that exact truck and man showed up, and I'm just now realizing that it's the same one!
Hell of a nice build, from the tires on up. But to me, something's missing on the outside of the truck--design wise. I don't know if it's side door mirrors, or some subtle graphics, but something to break up all that white. Good job guys!!
That weed eater V6 sound fits the truck must of those trucks came with a 6 cilinder motor, I'm not a fan of restomods but I like this one, it's still like original with the same type of power plant but modern 👍 this one is cool 😎I'd use this truck to work and haul some stuff around with it it'll be fun to get some work done with that truck
Gerardo Mendoza still could get some with a small v8 an like you said it sounds like a weed eater. I would never get use to that sound coming from that truck.
@@brianproffitt7263 yeah you could get the Flathead V8 in those I think the same one from the Ford Mercury, if it was mi project I'd put a Flathead V8 in it
@@brianproffitt7263 Those trucks in 55 came with a 292 overhead valve v8, I owned one back in the early 70s, the one vehicle, I wish I had not let go of.
@@gerardomendoza9688 No, the flat head was over in 52, that truck in 55, would have come with the 292 overhead valve v8. I owned one in the early 70s, the one I should have never let go.
I can appreciate wanting to go with a V6 EcoBoost to be different, but had it been a V8, it would have sold for at least $10 grand more. Still, an outstanding build!
Not my choice but still an outstanding job! I like technology but IMO owning an old vehicle, even renewed, should be an analog experience. ECM's, EFI and sensors are essential to late model vehicles but I think they take away the nostalgic charm of these these old trucks. I'm not saying it should be kept stock - just pure analog and the old fashioned muscle of a throbbing V8.
@@krusher74 it said buyer pays %10 percent commission on top of the %5 seller fee. Math still doesn't come out to Randy's $15k though. I'm coming up with $8550. Still not a bad profit for Mecum for the thing being on stage for what, like 10-15 minutes maybe? Mecum has to be making fat bucks. Imagine what they make in that same 10-15 minutes for the multi-million dollar cars that run across that stage...
I couldn't find a full parts break down with prices and vendors for this build. I currently have a '52 Ford F2 that I need to get going on but I'm worried that after thousands of dollars and years of hard work I will spend a lot more then it will ever be worth. So, I'm very curious to know how much was spent and how many hours it took to get the $57K at Mecum Auction.
WHY is it all builders, or people who sale nice trucks like to abuse the trucks ? I have a 1950 Chevrolet pick up with a 632 CI. I love the sound and everything in it too...
There is a group of people who feel the opposite about the V8 and want something different that’s why the ecoboost was used. That’s supposed to be what makes the car culture so cool we can accept everyone’s taste it’s cool to have something different it’s still fas as hell and will be a burn out monster with all that low end torque
Truth Xposed I don’t give a shit what it’s in. If your excited about a twin turbo V-6 that’s only producing 600hp, then your an idiot. The Ford GT is a super lightweight car. I could but a 4 cyl in it and it would be fast. Let’s compare apples to apples. If this truck had a 5.0L Coyote twin turbo instead of the EcoBoost, it would be pumping out over 1,000hp, so it would run circles around your little V-6. 😂
I think it looks really stupid sitting that low with those tires on it. That body style should be higher with bigger tires and a big ass push bumper on the front. Absolutely the wrong truck to build a lowrider.
If they used something like a Coyote motor or something like a Kasse Boss 9 top end on a Ford 460 instead of that crappy Ecoboost that would add significantly to it. The paint while nicely applied could have held it back. Especially the random black part in the hood. And while a stick is fun this is a cruiser not a muscle or pony car. Most would prefer an AOD transmission cruise. When building a custom the parts used are sometimes more important than the build itself. No matter how nice it looks if you don't have the underpinnings right it won't being a major packet. And just not the right buyers in the audience doesn't help.
I dont know if I'd call it a "2017 ford f100" but more of a rebodied "2011 mustang". Also, there are plenty of better "non-traditional" ford power plants. Take for instance a European diesel or an Australian i6.
this is the only way anyone can drive these old trucks....my uncle has a 53 mercury truck and you cant drive that thing more than 1 block before your spinal cord snaps in half from such a rough ride...
All that, then put a damn ecoboost motor in it. I couldn’t get use to hearing that, I would have put a 5.0 in it don’t care if a bunch of people do it. I would not wanna listen to a Ecoboost motor in a ole ford pickup
D Yamariv that’s what I said, I would never be able to get use that sound coming from that truck. Ruined it like ford did the raptor with the v6 in my opinion.
Nothing against diesel but I have to agree. It's not the number of cylinders either, I would have preferred a 12 valve Cummings, for gasoline I would have preferred a big block Ford.
@@bigboreracing356 I was thinking the same thing but you can get about the same power from a good big block Ford if you use the right parts. A stroked out 460 with aluminum heads and a nice EFI system would probably be my choice.
@@bigboreracing356 why would you want to down grade this truck by putting a big block chebby in it???...and i think its on this channel were they built a big block chevy and a big block ford..the ford is 14 cubes smaller..yet made 4 hp more then the big block chevy
I don't like the way it's sit so low. I know low trucks are popular now but I think it looks stupid. Otherwise I absolutely love that truck. Raise it back up and put some mud and snow tires on it and I would have bought it at that price. No haters please, I know my opinion is probably not popular but no pickup trucks should ever have to worry about bottoming out on a speed bump. Driving over curbs and off road is what trucks are all about. The only way I would have a truck sitting that low would be if it had drag radials and a big block maybe even a blower. All other trucks especially diesel would not sit that low if it was up to me. Also could probably use better sway bars. If you build another 55 Ford F100 that is not a lowrider I would be very interested. Beautiful truck just not my style
Jimmy Jennings no it doesn’t matter what I think. I don’t like the v6...that’s why I bought a 66 with a Coyote and tremec 6 speed. But I hope you feel better now
Why grind metal just for the sake of grinding it...and then make extra work by having to fill the grinder marks ? And then paint it white? As a matter of proportion, the factory height of the cab makes the other proportions work...chop the cab and you made a Danny Devito...short fat and dumpy...just my opinion on this as a retired body man-painter.
other than no side mirrors, no indicators and wipers, nice truck but, spend that kind of money on black wheels . black wheels suck. #iloatheblackwheels
