In case you're still crowdsourcing advice, do remember to brace the door gaps before cutting the sills off. This will preserve the door gaps which is absolutely critical. As someone else has mentioned, the more you can remove from the car the easier it will be to get at all of the areas of rust and attachment points. Drop the fuel tank, remove the rear suspension and diff, remove the engine and gear box, remove the front cross member. I watched your first video and am full of admiration for your optimism on the state of the inner wings, especially after seeing the state of the inner wing strengheners. Mine had had mice living in them. Sills and inner wings almost always need attention. Inner wings can be patched but sills should be replaced and there is a seven piece kit for either side from Moss or Rimmer Brothers. Keep up the enthusiasm ...and the vids.

Thanks for the help. I’ve got bracing doors on my first thing to do before attacking with the angle grinder 👌🏻. I’ve just got the engine and gearbox out and will probably rebuilt them before moving onto the bodywork side of things. Do you think I should remove the suspension and diff etc before rebuilding or after? I’ve noticed that almost every rusted part can be bought as a replacement section which should hopefully make the job a tiny bit easier.

I have never restored a car but i think its just fine to do the body restoration when the engine and gearbox are out . Without that weight you might even get the car in a better ( higher up ) position for working and welding on it .

I’ve been speaking to a few people since I recorded the video and they all also agree that I should take the engine + gearbox out before I start working on the sills. It also helps to stop the car body flex and move as I weld in new sills.

Well done. All a learning curve. Does the engine run? Is it siezed? Id get the engine out on a jig and get the engine sorted first. Keep at it. Well done.

The engine is dismantled before purchase so didn’t run, pretty sure it isn’t seized though. I’m trying my hardest to find someone with a engine crane I can borrow it to take the engine out but I think I’ll have to buy one from Facebook marketplace or somewhere. I’ll try get a update video this weekend but am really waiting till I find a crane for the next video. Thanks for the support
