You missed Elizabeth center is an underground Asian shops filled with cute things, Japanese plushies, jewelry, cosmetics, etc. And another bubble tea/donut/coffee shop called "Alibaba" they sell delicious donuts and variety of bubble tea flavors!
Unfortunately, the Elizabeth Center is a shadow of its former self. 10 years ago, all the shops were open, and last I had went there a couple of years back, more than half the storefronts were empty.
I remember living here in the late 80's, and early 90's! I was in elementary school then and went to P.S. 1 elementary school. Being African American, it was maybe 2 or 3 other African Americans at the school at that time. I had some fun times living here, and I can't wait to visit as an adult.
Thank you so much for such an interesting and really useful guide! Never been to NYC, however I'm looking forward to the trip. Furthermore, the Chinatown is gonna be one the main points of my trip thanks to your video. Greetings from Moldova!
Love your channel. Would it be possible to list all the places you go in the description, and that way they would be easier to find? If not, that's OK, I can just watch it again. Very informative, and I love a good dumpling.

''FYI'' .. Here is something funny about New York residents. I used to be an over the road Truck Driver. I got lost to one of my Customers there in Brooklyn. I stopped a person walking on the side of the road and asked them if they knew how to get back to the highway. They had no idea.....lol.. They lived there all of there lives but had no idea how to get to a freeway!!! .. That was too funny!!!
Hi Tal, you must go around the world & film such travel videos when you're young, more energetic & nicer-looking. These NYC videos are very interesting, informative & educational! The Israel ones are not so much, especially when you film yourself sharing long thoughts about the conflicts in the country or sitting down doing long diagnosis of food that you're eating. We're here to watch sceneries of countries mainly.
Awesome vblog Tal.. your NYC series is so informative. My wife and I are planning a trip back to NYC soon and you have opened our eyes to new places to explore. Especially the purse purchasing corner, haha. Thank you so much! I hope everyone shares your videos to others.
8:21 There is no such thing as Mandarin & Cantonese writings. It's just Chinese characters. However, they can be written in Simplified or Traditional format.
At 11:31, that's the On Leong Chinese Merchants Association building. There's used to be one in Chinatown, Chicago, but it was changed into the Pui Tak Center. *And I believe it's accessible through stairs because there's a small door entrance on the left.
Manhattan's Little Italy is small, the one in The Bronx is larger and where all the movies and tv shows take place. You could take days just going around to all the filming locations.
This is great, I was wondering when you would do Chinatown! The parade is possibly to celebrate the community of people from Fujian Province. There isn’t a lot going there as far as jobs, so a lot of people from Fujian province move to the US and Canada. Primarily to work in Chinese buffets, and takeout places, and once they attain enough English, they move to smaller towns to open their own restaurants. Child labor is still pretty common, anything from putting lids on food containers to making dumplings to eventually working the phone or register. The Chinatown bus systems originally were created to ferry workers (and Chinese restaurant supplies) from the larger cities to smaller towns with jobs available, nearly ALL from Fujian province. I think the Lucky Star to the side of the Buddhist temple is the 3rd oldest bus system. Probably more than you wanted to know, huh?
Chinatown is awesome! I don't live in NYC ( I'm about 4 hours away), so when I come in I always look for a great hotel. Hotel 50 Bowery in Chinatown is amazing and right in the heart of things. Love staying there! Btw, came over from Twitter. Have seen you in several other UA-camr's vids, followed you on twitter, but forgot to subscribe lol. Changed that man!
Try staying at Hotel Life on West 30th Street off Broadway...it was home office to Life Magazine many years ago and is now a hotel... beautiful architecture, convenient to everything in Manhattan or just a short subway/bus ride away.
Thank you so much for the video. It will help me for my trip in Feb 2020 and especially for the Chinese New Year parade. The restaurant recommendations are awesome. The video also gives me an idea on I should be dressed for the weather. I am so looking forward to the visit. Mahalo and Aloha !
Should definitively go to East Boardway Mall. It's right under the subway, and it gets super busy. There's also many shops and restaurants within the mall. There's a big dim sum restaurant within the mall and it is probably the most popular restaurant near that area.
Where the old Sun Sing Theater used to be....and the turf wars in that theater. That movie theater was iconic to chinatown, (as well as Music Palace, and I think, the Pagoda Palace?? theater). The body counts at Sun Sing theater though... Wow. brings back memories from the 1970's and 1980's. All gone now.
This was awesome favorite places that I always drive through but never get to stop and take it all in. I’ve got little things here and there but I’ve never taken in the full scope of it the next time I go back I will make a whole day trip and try every food they have. Thank you for making this awesome video
great vid but you did forget one iconic eatery, this one (read on) and Jing Fong Restaurant are two of the places I remember going with my family when I was a kid and that was many years ago, lol. If your going to get ice cream in Chinatown this is the place you need to go, The Chinatown Ice cream Factory, 65 BAYARD ST. These two places are places I always took friends when down there. I agree for tourists they should visit Chinatown during the Lunar New year or during the Autumn if only to avoid the searing heat down there during the Summer but I love Chinatown too so anytime of the year it's a fun excursion to get some yummy food and pick up some things to eat at home as well as some other fun items from the various shops.
Born and raised in Chinatown, NYC. U wear SNEAKERS. It's a given. No other shoes will be more comfortable. If ur not wearing sneakers in Chinatown or NYC, ur not a true born-and-raised-in-NYC native. I'm not saying tourists wont wear sneakers, but even after leaving NYC--a born native returning will always wear sneakers when returning to the old nabe. It's just THE most comfortable shoe for walking the concrete jungle of NYC. Sneakers have BOUNCE when pounding the pavement of NY.
Hello!!! Tal !!! 131st view, 18th like and 6th comment 😃 Awesome video!! I am so jealous, Dumplings everywhere!🥟🥟 Good to see you, thank you for brightening my day. 🎆🎇
Jing Fong for authentic dim sum on weekends, this place is humongous, looks like a ballroom dancing hall inside...the chicken feet tasted bland though..but maybe that's how authentic is supposed to taste like? and not the Americanized version I got used to? Hehe It's worth a visit even just for the experience.
He didn't mention it, but it is on Elizabeth Street, on the left side about 2 or 3 blocks north of Canal Street. And BTW, they actually sell their jerky online as well (and my personal favorite is actually their pork jerky).
I really enjoy your videos... we are from Oklahoma and deliver to the Bronx produce market alot and I really appreciate the direction u kinda give on some of the ideas to go check out.... THANK YOU
You also forgot to point out that the Five Points area that was made famous in the Leo DeCaprio movie "Gangs of New York" essentially comprised a large portion of Chinatown, with the center of it pretty darn close to Columbus Park (the park you went to in Chinatown). The southern portion are where all of the government buildings now sit.
I've been to Chinatown at least a twenty times since the 70s and you showed me some new stuff. I took notes and will be definitely doing a dumpling run the next time. Great job on the video, your style of presentation is really enjoyable to watch.
Chinatown is by far the most authentic neighborhood in NYC. So old and historic. A true ethnic enclave that has continued to exist for over a hundred years.
Ah. General area of Corlears JHS 56, by the river. The area where the term "Hookers" (a prostitute) became famous. So much history. Famous and infamous.

MALAY SUBTITLES : Part 5 of 6
14:05
14:31
tamatkan lawatan Pekan Cina kami sehingga tempat terakhir kami
14:32
14:47
pad jadi begini rupa
14:48
ia sangat berbeza daripada suka
14:49
orang Amerika tradisional
14:52
satu dolar untuk sekeping ini jelas jika
14:54
anda mendapat lebih banyak nilai melaluinya
14:56
oh ya ampun
14:58
Saya mendapat makanan ringan sepanjang hari itu
14:59
sungguh luar biasa jadi ya itulah akhirnya
15:01
15:11
kawasan kejiranan bonus yang ada di sini
15:13
kawasan yang pertama adalah Little Italy
15:15
ini adalah Little Italy secara harfiah a
15:16
lima saat berjalan dari tempat ia berada
15:18
Pekan Cina tetapi pasti tidak begitu
15:19
sebesar Pekan Cina jauh lebih kecil
15:21
15:23
seperti restoran Itali yang mendalam dan
15:25
kedai tempatan anda akan dapati semua
15:27
pastri semua kepingan keju
15:29
tempat yang ingin anda lawati dan banyak
15:30
daripadanya seperti yang diberi nilai tertinggi
15:32
di bandar jadi sejuk untuk datang dan
15:34
lihat itu bukan sesuatu yang anda boleh
15:35
menghabiskan saya fikir berjam-jam atau hari meneroka
15:37
15:40
lihat bagaimana seni bina dan
15:42
gaya untuk restoran tempat
15:44
ubah detik anda menyeberang ke
15:45
Little Italy jadi kita akan menjadi
15:47
beralih dari kejiranan ini a
15:49
sedikit italia di mana kita berada sekarang
15:50
ke tempat yang dipanggil soho memang ada
15:52
16:06
kerana saya fikir ia sebenarnya memerlukan
16:09
kek untuk salah satu pizza terbaik di Bandar Raya New
16:11
York itulah yang dinamakan Putera
16:12
Pizza jalanan sangat terkenal di sana
16:14
selalu keluar dari pintu dan itu
16:15
sebenarnya salah satu perkara yang saya benci
16:16
garis Saya fikir ia bernilai garis
16:18
ia adalah kepingan pizza yang sangat bagus
16:21
baiklah kita mendapat Putera yang terkenal
16:24
Pizza jalanan perkara ini seperti 20
16:25
minit untuk mendapatkannya adalah kepingan sempurna
16:30
walaupun harga $ 3.30 bernilai 20
16:32
tunggu sebentar agak lama tapi semuanya
16:33
16:48
Manhattan paling rendah ia adalah bernilai
16:50
datang ke sini untuk melihat seni jalanan
16:52
dan nikmati orang yang menonton juga
16:54
melakukan belanja jika anda mempunyai anggaran
16:56
untuk itu tetapi ada satu perkara lagi
16:57
benar-benar menjadikan Soho Soho
16:59
dan itulah jenis batu bulat
17:01
jalan-jalan yang anda ada di sini
17:03
17:05
berjalan melalui jalan-jalan di sini dan
17:06
melakukan semacam pemotretan kerana
17:09

I'm so happy you mentioned Sweets. They're the best Chinatown bakery. 😭😭😭😭
They are awesome
Thanks for breaking down the areas of NYC's areas of Chinatown. I missed a lot on my last trip there aà
Gotta come back!
And this was made right before covid. Unreal how life changed
How is it now?
@@Mr_Gray_1995 Different. Dead. slowly returning, with outdoor booths.
Soho also has the highest concentration of cast iron buildings in the United States.
Nice video. Thanks.
So many things I didnt know - Great tour i must go to these places
I lived in China town when I was little
Fantastic guide. You’re the travel guide guru!
Thanks Mandy!
I wish I had of spent more time in Chinatown I was only there for like 30 minutes.
Oh it's was easliy my fav spot in the city
Love China Town. And canal avenue. Yesss
Thanks Tal! Really interesting!
Glad you enjoyed my friend!
The spelling changes based in the language.
That’s correct
This is incorrect, you can actually write in Cantonese but it's usually not formal
No
Thank you !
Very informative and fun!
I kept wanting to watch more ! 🥰⚡ 🌟
At 11:31, that's the On Leong Chinese Merchants Association building. There's used to be one in Chinatown, Chicago, but it was changed into the Pui Tak Center. *And I believe it's accessible through stairs because there's a small door entrance on the left.
Great guide. I always used to get lost there. So much too see and great food. Thanks for showing me more. 👍
My pleasure friend;
First. I beat y'all
lol xoxo
Was lucky to hit up Chinatown back before the whole virus stuff happened. Had such a great time.
Greatest video tour on earth 👍👍👍
Haha I love the insight!
Amazing video of Chinatown. Thanks for the bonus tour of SoHo and Little Italy. I work down by Wall St. and it’s a short ride away.
My pleasure friend!
Thanks dude! That's much appreciated!
Try staying at Hotel Life on West 30th Street off Broadway...it was home office to Life Magazine many years ago and is now a hotel... beautiful architecture, convenient to everything in Manhattan or just a short subway/bus ride away.
It’s Friday 10:30am 10/25/19. I’m getting ready to hit-up China town today.
Thank you so much for the video. It will help me for my trip in Feb 2020 and especially for the Chinese New Year parade. The restaurant recommendations are awesome. The video also gives me an idea on I should be dressed for the weather. I am so looking forward to the visit. Mahalo and Aloha !
i remember Silver Palaee on th Bowery was the biggest dim sum or teahouse in Chinatown.....back around 1980
I love china town and little italy
Fun Fact: Confucius is also featured on the US Supreme Court building's East entrance along with Greek lawmaker Solon and Moses.
Great video!
cool stuff!
You are a nice, smart guy, all good luck to you.
Wonderful as always!
Thanks pal!
You walk a lot! You gotta let us know what kinda shoes you wear they must be comfy. You never seem to complain about walking so far.😂
Love me some Nikes
Born and raised in Chinatown, NYC. U wear SNEAKERS. It's a given. No other shoes will be more comfortable.
If ur not wearing sneakers in Chinatown or NYC, ur not a true born-and-raised-in-NYC native.
I'm not saying tourists wont wear sneakers, but even after leaving NYC--a born native returning will always wear sneakers when returning to the old nabe. It's just THE most comfortable shoe for walking the concrete jungle of NYC. Sneakers have BOUNCE when pounding the pavement of NY.
@@catacomber8 shut up
I've been to NYC twice and yet to make it to chinatown
Hello!!! Tal !!! 131st view, 18th like and 6th comment 😃 Awesome video!! I am so jealous, Dumplings everywhere!🥟🥟 Good to see you, thank you for brightening my day. 🎆🎇
Ur the best!
Yes definitely!
Very informative!! Thank you for this video!
Can wait to visit the Chinatown this June I will definitely try the Malaysian beef jerky
He didn't mention it, but it is on Elizabeth Street, on the left side about 2 or 3 blocks north of Canal Street. And BTW, they actually sell their jerky online as well (and my personal favorite is actually their pork jerky).
John Seah Thank you for the advice John. I would definitely try the pork jerky.
Greetings from chinatown yokohama Tokyo
I used to go to the arcades with my friend after class
Chinatown Fair? With the Chicken?

I really enjoy your videos... we are from Oklahoma and deliver to the Bronx produce market alot and I really appreciate the direction u kinda give on some of the ideas to go check out.... THANK YOU
Its refreshing to see someone make a video of a rat hole and speak so positively about it.
Try Nom Wah Tea Parlor sometime.. Lots of history.
Very special intro

My pleasure!
Great video
We have Ajo Ichiban here in HK.
Great video bro
Thanks bro!
Oh yeah, what's the story about the dodo bird on your merch? Cool design.
i'm sold....the chinatown becomes asiatown. thanks.
Great video! I’ve been to all of those places and you were spot on! Love your channel, I’m a new subscriber and I’m hooked. 🥳🙏🫶🏼
Thank you and welcome friend!
Om swastiastu, Suksma.
You gotta get the square pepperoni slice at prince street pizza!
17 Mott St. WO Hop downstairs
I've been to Chinatown at least a twenty times since the 70s and you showed me some new stuff. I took notes and will be definitely doing a dumpling run the next time. Great job on the video, your style of presentation is really enjoyable to watch.
You should do a part 2 bro
Such a great place. I get my haircut here for 5 dollars lol! We go down here all the time. Great tour!
Nice😊😊😊👌
I wish we had more Asian here in Puerto Vallarta
Awesome. I'll be trying a moon cake.
Can I find stuff for event decorations ( flowers, vases n more here)
I'm headed to NYC I'm definitely dropping by here. Although why does GTA come to my mind when seeing this video lol
Good stuff... Content idea: Flushing chinatown
13:11 the gentrification has began...
Hi now the two shops are closed permanently the dumpling shop and the candy shop however the vegetarian dumpling one is open
Chinatown is by far the most authentic neighborhood in NYC. So old and historic. A true ethnic enclave that has continued to exist for over a hundred years.
Little Italy is Older than Chinatown..
@@docholliday4546 But it's dying. Or was.
I know this is an older video but you should check out the colliers hook area
Ah. General area of Corlears JHS 56, by the river. The area where the term "Hookers" (a prostitute) became famous. So much history. Famous and infamous.
