I live Two blocks from the New World Mall and most of the stalls have very good food . The Uyghur stall has excellent Lamb dishes and I love my hand pulled noodles, with chicken. There are so many good food stalls. The Thai street food is excellent. There are so many good Chinese, Korean, Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Japanese and Indian restaurants within a few blocks of Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue (the last stop on the 7 train). The Manhattan Chinatown is for tourists; Flushing is for the Asian community. I’m glad that I like asian food and.
The best food I ever had was a Uyghur lamb bun in Shanghai at a street stall. The one in this mall is good, I get it often, but I'll always yearn for that bun again.
I remember when all of a sudden in the 80s Korean spots started opening up in Flushing. As a HUGE fan of Korean food, even back then when I was only 12 or so it was awesome. Then slowly over the late 80s into the 90s etc. the Korean spots started to dry up and it became the Chinatown it is today. There are still Korean spots here or there from what I understand, and as UA said a fairly sizeable Korean population still in the area. But man, imagine going from incredible Korean food, to incredible Chinese food. As an absolute fan of Asian cuisines, it was heaven lol I still wish a Thai or Vietnamese crowd would have come into the area before I moved out of NY around the year 2000. But, eh. It is what it is :)
I grew up in Flushing at a time when there were only a few Chinese restaurants! I enjoyed them all and never dreamed that there would be a time when the whole area would have become a mecca for my favorite foods!
You’re my Chinese food guru and savior of my relationship with my girl. She loves Chinese food and I don’t. Well didn’t until we tried X’am Famous food that you featured in a previous video. Next stop Flushing for this Bronx boy to try food from various regions that I might like. Cheers and thanks for the education
The Uyghur food is aaaaaaaahmazing! I go here once a month. I truly love Flushing so much I just wish it didnt take me 40mins to get there! Also: There are actual sit-down dining establishments on the upper floors. They are really nice and the decor is awesome. They are pricier too. The top floor has the famous banquet hall. Its awesome, you will see events/parties/galas happening here all the time. I love catching rehearsals.
The best soup in this food court is still the think noodle soup or the pronunciation is call mein sien soup ...Delicious soup with so many different kind of ingredients in the soup ...
Hi UA, have watched all of your videos and I’m so impressed by all of detail’s you really are a fantastic food critic. Now that you’ve going full time love to see more of Pizza in Jersey.
I think TIna should chime in more during your videos. That tiny pathetic tiny plastic spoon: I would bring my own! I enjoy your videos always. Thank you.
There’s a least one shuttle bus from Manhattan Chinatown to Flushing’s. One is called Zhong Hua Van Service. It is faster than the subway since the subway makes so many stops. It leaves from Division and Bowery in Manhattan.
I had the exact same Lanzhou braised beef noodle dish from the same stall at the food court and enjoyed it thoroughly. The noodle was on point as described. I personally prefer the connecting tissues pieces more when braised properly in a 15:30 tender way as the flavor comes from the soft jelled collagen from the preparation of deep braising. I also prefer tgd thicker chunks like the ones I tasted that day.
This area really has changed, quite a bit from when i was growing up. I transferred on Main street to continue my long travel, everyday (from Jamaica Queens to Flushing, then later, Bayside for school.) It was already a hotbed of asian industries and cuisines. The cuisine part, i took part in on a regular basis - it is so good, from so many different spots. It became more so welcoming as the people in the area began branching out.
The clear-er the broth does not mean it's pure... it mean they didn't use enough bone to make the broth for the viscosity... that soup look like it's water, with msg, and beef bouillon
I'm a fan of lu rou fan the last dish you tried. Usually in Taiwan, a portion is served with half a tea egg, a few Korean yellow daikon slices, and/or a piece of bok choy.
I've been down there a bunch of times! You're only 5 minutes from my house, and we're fortunate to have such diversity of food around here. Excellent as always!
It's nice to finally have been to a place before UA reviewed it XD. Got random pigs feet at a random stall near LIRR and it was the best pigs feet i ever had
Great choice for a video! Future visits would be great too, so many great options in Flushing! I'd love to see a vid on Joe's Steam Rice Roll. They've got Manhattan locations, so would be more easily accessible (along with other places serving up cheung fun)
Hi. Been watching your videos. I subscribed with my car channel. Your reviews are exactly what I want from a review. You seem like such a nice person and your dialogue is so positive.
Best thing I had on a skewer in China was cicadas roasted in cumin, but I couldnèt bring myself to eat scorpions and dog. Handpulled fresh noodles. Costco sells marinated Bulgoki beef and boxed noodle kits. Vancouver has old Chinatown, Richmond, Metrotown-all with over 100k people. Quebec City-no Chinatown. Love Zhejiang red seared porkbelly!
• At Main Street, I bought those pop rock things when you throw em on the ground it pops. • I also bought tanghulu in different places (One outside the lobby where J-MART is, one outside of the parking lot, and one in front of J-MART) • Went grocery shopping. • Haircut. • In the top floor, I went to that big luxury restaurant. • bought food at the food court. (Strawberry crème brulee latte 50% sugar n a burger at Chris rocks.)
The beef part you showed with the noodles looks good but I guess it wasn’t cooked long enough. Properly cooked shin meet is soft unctuous and delicious.
Probably what happened is that the seller doesn’t want to take the time when they can just sell to the next customer. A lot of shortcuts are taken because most customers don’t know how it should be made, and will settle for what’s placed in front of them.
You got me excited just from the intro. I must say I never had authentic Chinese before and my guilty pleasure is General tso chicken lol this makes me wanna hit my china town here in chicago
For the Beef in the Lamien soup.. It can vary.. In larger cities like Beijing, and Tapei, usually the beef is sliced and and trimmed, but in other places usually less affluent ones, it is not..
there is an amazing Korean spicy chicken shop to the left of the bottom of the escalators, fantastic, very spicy and flavorful, always fresh and tasty. it's a must have anytime I have enough time to drop down to that food court. I have to try that noodle bowl, looked delicious and I wonder if I'll like it more than Japanese ramen.
Nice video as always! I've been to the area but didn't go to the mall in particular because I thought I wouldn't know what to order😁. After watching your video I feel more confident to go and explore more👍🏾
I believe another popular NY vlogger is in your video at 19:02. Not sure if that was just a coincidence or if that was a special day at the food court?
I really miss being able to go to the Flushing Chinatown and the New World Mall food court. Some of the best Chinese cuisine in the country hands down. I know over the last 10 years or so, and especially during and now after the pandemic, the food court has kind of been re-done a bit with some places shutting down and some newer places moving in. But I bet it's still all good. I really wish I could just go to NY to visit Flushing lol It's been 25 years :(
hidden gem for real-real chinese food, everything is handmade, real handpulled noodle, not the fake ramen bs with heavy af broth. the art is clear broth with alot flavor, takes time that 生煎包 spot is the best there is in murica
This lanzhou place is good but not 100% authentic as you guys mentioned. I think they usually put sliced beef on the side where you can add to the noodles and also adding spoonful of the hot oil/sauce is usually a necessity. Either way still a good place to eat as there noodles are delicious however i feel the broth is a little too much MSG but it doesn't bother me
Flushing Chinatown is definitely the place to eat authentic Chinese food. I've never been to the New World Mall. Definitely looks worth a trip. Manhattan Chinatown is getting more difficult to find real Chinese food. Most places cater more towards the non-Chinese population. Nice video!
The braised beef noodle soup at "the ugly dumpling" extra beef is 🤤 they use top sirloin medallions soft as butter. 🐉Happy New year to the both of you prosperity and good fortune wishes 💜
To those who celebrate, Happy Lunar New Year and hope you all enjoyed the Super Bowl!
If you ever go to San Diego, let me show you around dude.
Plz stop the childish music
Happy New Year! All the best to you and your family.
Its one of the safest and cleanest places in New York city too.. Streets are clean, crime is way down.. ..This is where id wanna live..
You should know better. It's NOT the "lunar new year", because it's not based on the lunar calendar. It's the Chinese New Year.
I live Two blocks from the New World Mall and most of the stalls have very good food . The Uyghur stall has excellent Lamb dishes and I love my hand pulled noodles, with chicken. Maybe sounds selfish but I’m so glad you quit your day job and started uploading more. Love your content
I like how respectful UA is to his wife when she talks.
I'm old enough to remember when Flushing was Koreatown!
There still is a sizeable Korean population there
bayside
they moved their stores to the Northern Blvd.....if I remember correctly, lol.
I remember when all of a sudden in the 80s Korean spots started opening up in Flushing. As a HUGE fan of Korean food, even back then when I was only 12 or so it was awesome. Those were good times.
Looks delicious. I did get a chuckle as your intro talking about the real, authentic Chinatown while standing in front of a Popeye’s! 😝
I was thinking the same thing!😂
Ditto 😂
I mean he’s still in America 😂
what subway is this at
@rogerrosen2323 You probably looked it up already. In case you didn't the stop is Flushing, Main St on the 7 line.
I grew up in Flushing at a time when there were only a few Chinese restaurants! I enjoyed them all and never dreamed that there would be a time when the whole area would have become a mecca for my favorite foods!
Great video! Very educational. Thanks for sharing what you do with the extra food.
I liked hearing Tinas insight in this video. Its cool she rides along with you Im glad for you guys
Thank you for that delicious food tour of Flushing's Chinatown. I'll have to try fresh handmade noodles one day. Happy Lunar New Year!

I used to go to a great Chinese owned bakery in Flushing…the bread and pastries were delicious
The best soup in this food court is still the think noodle soup or the pronunciation is call mein sien soup ...Delicious soup with so many different kind of ingredients in the soup ...
I was hoping you would show them the dry hotpot, maybe a part two?
Moved out of Flushing 7 years ago. I miss it so much! Thanks for the cool content.
lol "chestnuts roasting on an enclosed fire"
When I’m in the mood for authentic Chinese etc I always head to flushing to satisfy my cravings
Hi UA, have watched all of your videos and I’m so impressed by all of detail’s you really are a fantastic food critic. Now that you’ve going full time love to see more of Pizza in Jersey.
The beef noodles from "Lanzhou Handmade Noodle" are fantastic! It's item #1 on the menu.
The Pineapple Bun at "New Flushing Bakery" across the street is also bomb. Good coffee there also.
I think TIna should chime in more during your videos. That tiny pathetic tiny plastic spoon: I would bring my own! I enjoy your videos always. Thank you.
I think Markham Canada has the best Chinese/Cantonese food, give a try.
bro i go to eat that soup like 2 times a week at that restaurant. also love their hot oil!!!

New World Mall Food Court is awesome. Especially love to order the stir fried noodles.
Happy Lunar New Year!!! Great vid as always!
We ate here after a Mets game … wow! Thanks for giving some delicious memories!
Hope you went to the other food court to compare. It was not advertised but had a red awning. It is New York Food Court on Roosevelt.
I would totally try the Duck Specialized place!
I wonder if there are Shichuan hot pot food place in NY?
The clear-er the broth does not mean it's pure... it mean they didn't use enough bone to make the broth for the viscosity... that soup look like it's water, with msg, and beef bouillon
I saw Tom Delgado near the end of your video! Another UA-camr!
Ahhh yes I see him haha
great minds eat alike
Yup I noticed Tom D right away. Good eyes 👀
@@matthewread79 You are not the only one. LOL.
@19:02
Love Queens NY. This area is a food paradise!!!!
Awesome you do reviews while sleep walking
Everything looks really good!
I'm a fan of lu rou fan the last dish you tried. Usually in Taiwan, a portion is served with half a tea egg, a few Korean yellow daikon slices, and/or a piece of bok choy.

You keep an honest review, you are a superb foodie!
Great choice for a video! Future visits would be great too, so many great options in Flushing!
I'd love to see a vid on Joe's Steam Rice Roll. They've got Manhattan locations, so would be more easily accessible (along with other places serving up cheung fun)
Back in the 70's Asians were 2% in Flushing. I used to travel to Manhattan chinatown just to buy Chinese groceries!

Chinese food in Vancouver BC, is way too pricey.
please explore Flushing more.
Awesome video! Asian food is super diverse and yummy, more videos on Asian food like this please!
In the 60s, Manhattan Chinatown was the real New York Chinatown. :-P
That chicken wasn't crispy because its been hot boxing under that plastic lid. Fried chicken releases water and the container trapped it.
• At Main Street, I bought those pop rock things when you throw em on the ground it pops.
• I also bought tanghulu in different places (One outside the lobby where J-MART is, one outside of the parking lot, and one in front of J-MART)
• Went grocery shopping.
• Haircut.

How did u become an Eagle's fan? Nice video as always.

I stayed right next to Flushing for a work conference a few months ago, sad I didn't try this spot. Hopefully next time!
You got me excited just from the intro. I must say I never had authentic Chinese before and my guilty pleasure is General tso chicken lol this makes me wanna hit my china town here in chicago
Love the gristle, tendon, nerves attached to the braised meat. It's a texture thing.
For the Beef in the Lamien soup.. It can vary.. In larger cities like Beijing, and Tapei, usually the beef is sliced and and trimmed, but in other places usually less affluent ones, it is not..
My sister lives on Kissena Blvd.
I never knew how to order anything.
You're describing everything so clear 😊😊😊
when I grew up in Queens in the 50s and 60s there was no China town in Flushing I know I worked on Main Street so China town would be in Manhattan.
Very simple broth but good in its way, as you've said.
Wow...what a food paradise! Wish we have one here in Indianapolis.
You wouldn’t be able to get me away from the all-duck place, that’s for sure!
You brought back some memories UA, Shibuya. Went to Tokyo along time ago 1999. Time flyes Man.
i used to love that food court! best noodles! then i'd go upstairs for grocery shopping...
This is why UA is the best in the food blogging review business because his versatility is unmatched.
UE: Happy Lunar New Year🎉Great to see that the New World Mall food court is back at full swing after Covid! I see everything is $10 & above!
I miss the new world mall food court so much
Always a great time there!
That looks delicious 😋
It was all good!
I suspect the chinese food on the street of Flushing is where the OG spots are.
there is an amazing Korean spicy chicken shop to the left of the bottom of the escalators, fantastic, very spicy and flavorful, always fresh and tasty. it's a must have anytime I have enough time to drop down to that food court. I have to try that noodle bowl, looked delicious and I wonder if I'll like it more than Japanese ramen.
Come to Toronto dude....
A friend of ours (RIP Vernon) used to bring us pork buns in a pink box.
You need to go to the biggest Chinatown in the world the 626 San Gabriel Valley.
I left NY many years ago I believe I use to work in that mini mall as a kid it was a big department store called Alexanders
Nice video as always! I've been to the area but didn't go to the mall in particular because I thought I wouldn't know what to order😁. After watching your video I feel more confident to go and explore more👍🏾
In my area we had Chinatown, they came over to work in the mines here. They had to live out of town.
Good when we were there but not as good here in Vancouver or Richmond BC :-)
There is Japanese clear broth ramen as well.
Love the food courts there. And that Popeyes looks good too. Lol.
I believe another popular NY vlogger is in your video at 19:02. Not sure if that was just a coincidence or if that was a special day at the food court?

Might as well get a giants hoodie
Goo Birds! 🦅 Great 👍 Video! & Beautiful Content my Guy!! Keep up the Good Work!!
298th 👍 Hi UA! 👋 Hi everyone 👋 I sure do enjoy how you describe every flavor, texture. Whether it's amazing or not. Keep it up
I've been in Flushing since 1979, never entered this food court. The time I entered this building allot was when it was Alexanders.
Dude you have to try the fried fish at a zhong Taiwanese cuisine inc it’s so good
hidden gem for real-real chinese food, everything is handmade, real handpulled noodle, not the fake ramen bs with heavy af broth. the art is clear broth with alot flavor, takes time
that 生煎包 spot is the best there is in murica
Parking must be tough. LIRR a better option?
Did you keep the sticks after the lamb kabobs?
Not sure if it still there but there was a dry hot pot place in that food court. Get to choose your own toppings and they stir fry it for you.
You should try Filipino pork BBQ on a stick. I bet you'd enjoy that.
This lanzhou place is good but not 100% authentic as you guys mentioned. I think they usually put sliced beef on the side where you can add to the noodles and also adding spoonful of the hot oil/sauce is usually a necessity. I'm starving. This place looks cool.
Gong Xi fa Cai! Keep up the positive spirit and excellent reviews!
Oh man there is a dessert place that you should try too. I think it is call 三园甜品。
Flushing Chinatown is definitely the place to eat authentic Chinese food. I've never been to the New World Mall. Definitely looks worth a trip. Manhattan Chinatown is getting more difficult to find real Chinese food. Most places cater more towards the non-Chinese population. Nice video!
Manhattan Chinatown has turn into Little Italy, it caters to the tourists. Rent is so high.
So true and sad. Old school Chinatown is a distant memory.
years ago i went to the Pot Hop restaurant in New York China Town food was fantastic i'm in UK
Thats true Ramen was introduced in Japan from China. I saw a documentary about it.
If I remember correctly the New World Mall used to be called Busy B Mall. Then flushing was taken over by the Asian community and all changed.
Great job!
The braised beef noodle soup at "the ugly dumpling" extra beef is 🤤 they use top sirloin medallions soft as butter. 🐉Happy New year to the both of you prosperity and good fortune wishes 💜
