Love my SE CE24! Cant believe the quality. And i have a 94 &91 CE24 and a core 10 top...point is, these newer SE's are getting better and better and its great for guitarists and the industry in general. And the nailed the price on the SE CE24 and even the SAS. Hope they don't shoot up in 6 months or so again. Prices really need a correction now
I just got the SE Swamp ash yesterday. Wow. SE CE24 coming next week. I have a semi hollow CE24 and looking forward to comparing the two. The swamp ash definitely holds its own against my USA CE24
PRS does make a very good guitar and I have a 2018 PRS SE Custom 24 in a nice Tobacco Bust and it is in pristine condition (never been out of the house). The problem with PRS is they don’t hold their value. I took mine in to the local guitar store where I originally purchased it (remember the condition) to just see what it was worth when it was just a year old and they told me it was worth $200.00 US, I paid almost $800.00 US for it. It dropped $600.00 in value in just a year. Love the guitar, but the moral of the story is DO NOT take it to a guitar store to sell or trade one!!
It all depends on the guitar store, obviously they are there to make money so they can pay the bills, staff etc. You’ll always get more selling privately but guitar stores are great if you want a quick, problem free sale. I think they are the same as any guitar really where the value comes down to desirability. As models get upgraded (even just putting Paul Reed Smith on the headstock rather than a giant SE), older models become less desirable and fetch less money
I've found most PRS guitars to be sort of lifeless sounding. Even the premium ones. That quilt sounds great, but not a fan of the colour. Will have to try one.
One thing PRS seem to have really put some time and thought in to in recent years is the pickups in the guitars. I spent years feeling like they were sterile sounding until I got an early 2000's PRS and changed the pickups in it, then it instantly became my favourite guitar.

The Quilt Top was obviously better to my ears, and yes definitely more sustain!
