Having grown up as a part time resident on the Rainbow I really enjoyed your video. You missed several springs I often visited. The rock is limerick that has phosphate in it. Beautiful introduction to a beautiful place.
Thanks for watching. Yeah it was great, I definitely want to go back and do some Scuba Diving there. Let me know if there are any other springs I should visit.
I would like to connect! I didn’t see a contact on your about page, but if you want to go to my about and email me, I have some ideas on maybe helping each other
Thanks joe.i like your videos I do question your fish I'd. I believe you saw all long nose ga or spotted gar . Rainbow river is a fantastic place to dive. I love it thank you for sharing.🐟
Great video. I can't wait to drift dive there soon. I didn't read all the comments so sorry if repeating... it is a private spring behind that gate called Gissy Springs. My daughter was there recently with friends. She loved it.
I love Florida's springs and I have only been to a few. Wakiva is a great one but still need to hit the surrounding hot spots. Wakiwa springs, Kelly park. Recently went and it looks like they cleared some of many trees in the river that we saw back in late Feb of 2020. I picked some trash I saw out of the river and I think they should periodically go through and help make sure the river is in good shape. Still a good number of tree trunks and branches sticking out and just under the water. Paddle boarders beware.
Lol love the it's a little bit cold for FL standards. Us transplants from the Pacific love this temp🙂 The grass is really cool but does tend to freak people out the first time it touches them if they don't realize it's there. My poor sister about had a hard attack the first time she went in while visiting us. She thought it was a Gator 🤣 Aww you found the secret walk way! That is my favorite spot and goes for quite a ways down! In photos it doesn't even look like you are standing in water on a calm day. Snorkeling here is always amazing. There is another place right past here that is stunning you'll have to check out next time you visit.
@@JoeOceanside lol I won't lie we always chuckle seeing people get in who aren't used to growing up on the Pacific. Ok so from where you were at the secret passage way that you walked go upstream. Stay on the same side and just a few minutes paddling up. You'll see trees to can tie off too. A lot of bass hang out in that area it's beautiful and I thinks gets to about 20-25 ft right past that is the area to jump off the tree.
Tubing is so much fun down the Rainbow. Although I end up dragging my tube and swimming/snorkeling down the whole way. Great 5 mile treck that is crystal clear all the way down to the boat ramp at Blue Run.
dude wheres the deep spots? u remember? the 22 foot spot? i go on this river every other day and im practicing free diving.... my parents have river acess thas right before the actual head springs of the river, and then down river is kp hole.... that creek u found is near devils elbow, is that where the deep spot was? also if you wouldnt mind... im having a hard time finding video about how to free dive the style you are and not that freediving where your competitive and dive down super deep... there so many different types of free diving but what i need to know is how to just free dive these florida springs nothing too crazy... a video with rules, and things to do for saftey etc? appreciate it man
Great video👍👍👍 Hey, what kind of wetsuit are you using? What kind of wetsuit do you recommend for spring snorkeling in January? Or do we need it at all? Thanks.
Hi thanks for watching. I am using a Tilos spearfishing hooded rashguard. Most of the springs are 72 degrees so fo me a hooded rashguard is fine. If I was scuba diving for a long time I might use a 3 mil shorty. It all depends on how much you like the cold. I do always bring the wetsuit just in case I get cold.
I’m considering buying a top like yours but I can’t stand when I lose the air bubbles in my ears and they fill with water. Does the hood tend to trap water in your ears or is it easy to just do a head shake to release the trapped water?
@Adam Freediver has great videos on freediving training. Just make sure you be very careful, watch the whole video and research shallow water blackouts before trying to freedive ua-cam.com/video/eXBZUee4EpY/v-deo.html
I rented a canoe from rainbow springs state park, they have kayaks also. The other popular place to rent from is KP hole I believe. Thanks for watching
Yes KP Hole or you can launch from the campground which is about a 3 min paddle upstream from KP Hole. You can also rent from several places in town and launch from Blue Run which is almost to the bottle then Kayak up. Isn't a hard paddle up at all. KP is the best is you want to rent and launch. Puts you pretty close to the middle so if you go to the left you can get up to the Head Springs or if you go to the right you'll get down to Blue Run. When you come grab a bite from Swampy's sits right on the river before the bridge.
In the state park you are only allowed to swim in the "swim area", paddle down river a bit past the state park sign and you are free to swim anywhere you like. There are even dive boats that will drop you up river and you can drift dive way down the river.
The more you do it the more your body gets efficient at it. I am not that great at it, there are many people who can stay down for 2+ minutes. It can be dangerous holding your breath long without training, people blackout and die. Thanks for watching.
Joe Oceanside oh i also want to know if it is safe to dive anywhere there, i have a concern about the gators, i plan to dive where ever i can at the river with out possibly being attacked by a gator
Yes I am wearing a weight belt, makes me neutral buoyant. No I don't think the park rents wet suits, they only have a small roped off swim area, not very impressive. I rented a canoe and went down river from the park to free dive.
