    Scored my SL-1300 at Goodwill for $13.99. Just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Fully functional and in great condition. Just mounted a Nagaoka MP-110 cartridge on it, sounds excellent!

      Wow! That was a hell of a find. I love this turntable and am so glad the previous owner sold it to me. He's mentioned a couple of times that he is regretting selling it and I had to say, "Sorry, but i'm not selling it back" ;)

    Can’t beat the 70’s. Pulled out my old Pioneer 518 & plugged it in to my old Pioneer receiver 780, sounds like 1978 again. Will look for a 1300

    I have an SL-1300 that I got from my brother-in-law back in the early 80s. He got it new in 1974 I think. I love it and feel it is part of my family. It has an ATS-14 Shibata stylus on it. Sounds fantastic. It does have a cueing lever issue I need to get figured out. I guess for a 50 year old turntable something is bound to happen.

If you want to email me, I've got a pdf of the owners manual I can share or if you google "technics 1300 manual" it's the first link that pops up if you want to read about the other functions or maintenance. There's also a couple of great vids here on UA-cam of people repairing/servicing them.

      Only issue I've found is the cueing lever will drop on its own. Not an issue as I use it in auto.

    I know this thread is older, but I just got a 1300 (Stanton 500) a few weeks ago and and I’m having a lot of fun comparing it with my Dual 1219 (Shure M91ED). They both sound great but in different ways 😊

    • @HSCollectibles
      @HSCollectibles  3 місяці тому

      It's a little older but still pretty active. I'm surprised at the amount of people that stop to check it out. This unit is still chugging away and working/sounding great. It doesn't get daily use like it was at first but still gets used at least 3-4 times a week and is doing great. I'm thinking of changing out the cartridge but haven't made any decisions on it yet. What are you running on yours?

  • @MrSouzy
    @MrSouzy Рік тому +1

    really great table. I am thinking of getting one of these simply because I love quality 70s gear. Did you get a new cartridge? Asking because my current turntable is an sl-1500c and I put a denon dl110 on it... super cartridge...

    • @HSCollectibles
      @HSCollectibles  Рік тому

      I've not got a new cartridge yet but am considering an ortofon red. I was thinking of a doing a follow-up vid soon on the table and how it's performing. I've had it fir almost 2 years now and love it. I love older gear with lots of switches, knobs and shiny panels vs the all black that components are now

      @@HSCollectibles I had an Otofon Red with my Project. Wasnt a hugh fan. It was ok but to be honest not much better than an at95e. I tried a nagaoka mp110 but I wasnt really bowled over by it either. I can really recommend the denon dl110 though. A real reduction in surface noise and really great tracking. I know it is more expensive but it is really worth it

    I have the SL 1400 and love it ! I’m looks just like this one, but the only thing I see different is the 33-45 switch is on the right by the time arm and not on the front left.
    Yeah, it’s built like it big famous brother the 1200!MK2, but perfect for a one turntable home setup. There is a technics list of you google your turntable to see the specs and what it does and how much it cost when new.
    Oh and there an another model SL 1500 and I guess they came out the same year or close. I hear they had the chunky rubber feet, but mines didn’t come with and didn’t notice until someone on another yt video mentioned.

    I have the same SL 1300. Paid $300 as well. My only problem is the volume is very faint compare to my other record player. I changed the cartridge to one with a 2.4 mV output. Any tips to get a nice quality sound out of this? thanks

    • @HSCollectibles
      @HSCollectibles  2 роки тому +2

      Assuming you are using a phono preamp? If so, I know I've read a lot of cases where these units have enough age on them that people are getting the output cables replaced. I'm not sure if it's due to degradation of the wiring or the solder joints are cracking over time. Another possibility would be to look into the differences between MM and MC type stylus's and make sure you have the right one for your application. I think MC's are much lower output but need to learn about them myself to get ready to buy a new stylus when I get there.
      Worse come to worse, check with someone at a good independent record store and get an opinion. They're usually pretty knowledgeable
