I wish Line 6 Helix could just import various formats of Profiles, Captures, etc. as IRs into their Modelers. It's probably just some sort of file wrapper that makes a ToneX , NAM file, etc. look different than the type of IR Line 6 Helix can already Import. Probably just need to have an AI Agent write some Programming to rewrite/modify the wrapper so the Profiles will load in Line 6 Helix. I don't really need more hardware.
This is like asking Apple to just let everyone use iMessage... why would ToneX or Kemper or QC ever allow or facilitate Line 6 to take away part of their market share by allowing people to use their captures and models without having to actually buy their specific product?

That small pedal is just insane. Just need a way to justify buying a smaller version of what I already have. I'm sure it won't take long for me to convince myself. 😂
I’m kind of a line 6 fanboy (owns dl4, m5, hx stomp, hx effects). This year I decided to buy a big all in one modeler and despite Helix is still a great device with nice updates, it’s undeniable it’s getting old , I guess they’re still doing well selling Helix but I think its time for its successor. At that price range (FM9, Kemper stage, QC, cheaper headrush full of features) it’s hard to pull the trigger for a helix in 2024.
Former headrush owner (new hx stomp xl owner) here and unless you’re a vocalist as well it’s honestly not on par with a helix. The only thing I miss is scene mode. Also the helix LT is the same as the full helix but a few hundred less and fully capable of throwing down with the QC and fractal stuff. Although I will admit that the other two do sound a bit better
Problem here is maybe latency. Helix has around 2.1ms Roundtrip ToneX has 3.2 , ToneX One (nobody knows yet, no official data yet) In total with the added loops you come in at around 10ms. Add a digital wireless system and maybe a digital mixing console (which almost every band uses) and you get a really noticeable latency.
If I was setting this up for my own use, I would most certainly add in a shelf eq and an end of chain LA Studio Comp, not because it "needs" it but because I like to have the shelf eq for tweaking on the fly and tone shaping and I love having some subtle compression at the end. I don't do this on the Helix because it "needs" it either. Much like I would work in the studio with real amps. Hope that clarifies why I use those in the first place :-)
@@JasonSadites Thanks for clarifying that. I use a stomp XL and I use those two blocks on my own presets. The shelf EQ is definitely useful. I'm never really sure if I need the comp at the end but if I have a block I put it there. I thought maybe the tonex was the reason they were no active in your video. I have the One on pre-order.... I don't expect it to save me much as far as free blocks as now I will need separate send and receive blocks so I am looking at other ways to have more blocks available for actual effects.
My pleasure :-) The good news here is that your Tonex preset has a low and high shelf eq and a compressor, so you could implement them within the Tonex preset and lose them in the Stomp preset. Slightly different than running and LA Studio Comp at the end but still going to give similar results. Hope that helps :-)
Hi Jason, when running tonex in the loop of helix - can I compensate for different input trim requirements between my guitars (have two with very different pickup outputs) by just changing the send level on the helix loop instead of changing input trim on the tonex every time?
Hi! Is it possible to change the captures in tonex by changing helix presets? My idea is: in Helix i want to use Preset A with tonex capture X and then preset B with capture Z.
I pre ordered yesterday and this is exactly the video that I've been looking for!!!!! :). Thanks Jason!!!!!
My pleasure and glad you enjoyed :-)

I was wondering about this too. That would be super cool.
Line 6 is definitely going to have to include this in the next update or they’ll be dead in the modeling game

A very useful video, thanks! Your Fuchs profiles may well be the reason I buy a Tonex to use with my Helix / HS Stomp. Thanks again
Jason this is the first thing that went through my mind! Put this in the loop of any multi effects for a killer setup.
Yeah, it works great and what a cool addition 😀
Man Jason that is sounding pretty darn good with the ToneX1 models.

Right?!?! I am also very good at convincing myself of such things :-)
@JasonSadites you should make a video about that! I'd watch it all the time hahaha.
It is just me talking to myself in a mirror, convincing myself I need more gear LOL Will have to start a new channel :-)
@@JasonSadites I'd say that is a concept to go for!

I like that with the tonex you didn't need to waste two or three blocks with shelf eq's and hi - lo cuts..

@@JasonSadites Great to know. I'll have to see how easily I can tweak the hi low shelf on the fly.
@@mabbatic the Bass and Treble knows ok the Tonex One control the low and hi shelf and it also auto saves 😀

What if you took a usb b to usb c cable? I wonder if that could power the TONEX pedal straight from the helix. That would be genius
That was inovative thinking!
The idea of a second Tonex just got a lot more approachable
Two questions... 1 - does this save DSP? 2 - would doing this create latency?
Did you happen to watch the video?
Is this okay with pod go
How would I setup a HX Effects with the Tonex ONE?
Hi! Is it possible to change the captures in tonex by changing helix presets? My idea is: in Helix i want to use Preset A with tonex capture X and then preset B with capture Z.
Yes, the bigger version of Tonex pedal has midi.
I was debating about doing this in stereo to not run out of dsp when trying to put all effects in front of the amp
👍👍Love it
Thanks :-)
what does it do?
I don’t mean to alarm you. But there are amps behind that seem to be stalking.
I noticed that too on screen but every time I turn around in the room they aren't there anymore, is that something I should be worried about? :-)
@@JasonSadites well I see them too so I think you’re good. Usually means your safe if others can see what you see haha
Just remove Helix entirely.
