RIP, the idol of my childhood. with pleasant memories, once from Azerbaijan, and now from Poland

I mean that was already 3 years after the start of Perestrojka and Glasnost and nationalism was on the rise throughout the USSR. For years, playing subbuteo as a young boy in Lisbon, my favorite team was Anderlecht and my favorite national squad was Holland, because of how much i worshiped Rob Rensenbrink! Magnificent left foot, and such flair! Great video!

In Iran we enjoyed watching him as well as playing against Holland back in the 70s. He was one the few non- Ajax, non- Feyenoord players in that legendary squad.

First saw him against West Ham in the CWC final? and for me as a left footed player he became the inspiration for trying all those skills in the playground next day. Excellent name video and channel. Very few in Italy knew him when he showed his immense talent on the 1974 World Cup. I remember a journalist commenting about him that, if he was more able to score goals, he would be like Stanley Matthews. Well, I don't know how many goals Sir Stanley scored, but Rob was an excellent scorer.
Stanley Matthews was not a good goalscorer at all, his whole game was about dribbling past the left back and putting in a cross into the box. Rensenbrink scored lots of goals for Bruges and Anderlecht so it was very bad journalism.

If a someone was playing in a team that was not, for any reason, broadcasted, no one knew who he was. The journalist that said about the goal scoring attitudes of Matthews and Rensenbrink probably didn't know anything about both of them. Unless you bought foreign specialized magazines, you could know very little of the players and the kind of football played outside of Italy.

One of the greatest Dutch players ever, it's a measure of his talent that he played in Belgium most of his career and was still a regular for Holland, was just 6 inches away from winning a world cup for Holland but you can watch it again and again and the ball still won't go in lol loved to have seen Holland beat the arrogant Argies in their own back yard in the world cup final
The Belgian league was one of the best in the world at that time though, with Anderlecht always getting to the semi finals or even finals of the champions league, so it's no surprise.

Really an old fashioned inside left, played most of his career as a left winger but had rare skills as a striker. Best moment on the video is the goal against West Ham - he doesn't panic, drops his shoulder, sends the defence careering and slots it home. I remember the World Cup in 1978 when he was taking penalties almost every game and I was betting on which side he would put the next one.

The weekend after Rob Rensenbrink died there were a lot of Dutch eredivisie matches played. To my greatest suprise the Dutch Soccer Assiociation didn't command the clubs to have a one minute silence for this great Dutch soccer player. Well life is not always fair, if Rob had scored and wouldn't have hit the post in extra time at the 1978 World Cup final; I am sure every Dutch soccerfan would now have known who Rob Rensenbrink is. But I will never forget him.

Yesterday in the afternoon, I mentioned being compared to Robbie as a young boy of 14. (I gained quite a lot of weight since I was 30 or so). At that moment I had no idea that Robbie was no longer among us. I loved his dribbles and technique and the fact that he scores A LOT for our national team. And I liked the fact that he always stayed a nice modest man. May you rest in peace, Robbie.
Now I heard about the passing of this great player, my feelings for family, friends and the Dutch 🇳🇱 in general. I miss those mechanical orange times. He was a kind of Paulo Futre, perhaps less fast and less able to score goals. Hug to everyone. 🇵🇹
He was similar in both looks and playing style to Cruyff it seems. So much incredible talent in the 70s Dutch team!

The weekend after Rob Rensenbrink died there were a lot of Dutch eredivisie matches played. To my greatest suprise the Dutch Soccer Assiociation didn't command the clubs to have a one minute silence for this great Dutch soccer player. Well life is not always fair, if Rob had scored and wouldn't have hit the post in extra time at the 1978 World Cup final; I am sure every Dutch soccerfan would now have known who Rob Rensenbrink is. But I will never forget him.
Absolutely brilliant tribute and love the music well done! Rob was my favourite player made me want to be a left winger 😊

a stand out player in a team of stand out players , the 74 world cup was the first i remember sitting down with my dad and watching i was 8 years old and those bright orange shirts flowing football was spell binding
such a pity robbie didn't become such a household name as cryuff and repp he was the missing peice he had it all and his play only improved that of those around him , a sad time indeed ..thoughts and thanks to his family
i urge everyone to watch the 74 world cup films and realize what we have lost not only in robbie and johan but in football in general with the greed that ahs taken over

Yesterday in the afternoon, I mentioned being compared to Robbie as a young boy of 14. (I gained quite a lot of weight since I was 30 or so). At that moment I had no idea that Robbie was no longer among us. I loved his dribbles and technique and the fact that he scores A LOT for our national team. And I liked the fact that he always stayed a nice modest man.
May you rest in peace, Robbie.
