We see him shutdown any obstacle in his path in today's episode. As for his leg, its clearly been cursed by The Sin Archbishop of Lust Capella. Will this cause Return by Death to lose its usefulness? Regardless its a great day for anime fans around the world.

Subaru committed to valuing his own life, so of course he wouldn't use it unless he absolutely has to. We know that, but if you're a new fan that is fast forwarding 10 seconds at a time to skip "boring" parts then you won't ever really be invested in the characters because you'll miss crucial development

I think a lot of people are just rage bating and are hating that fact that re zero is more popular than there favorite show and I know re zero isn't perfect but the story is very well crafted and there are definitely some people who make valid points, like I saw a guy on another video who said he doesn't like it because of the suffering and gore but he understands that it has a very good story
I’d say there’s a portion that are rage baiting, then there’s a portion that didn’t watch the show and are echoing other people’s opinions without forming their own, and then there’s the people that just actually think Subaru never developed.

Subaru has his moments. He is weak. Sure. However, he is not useless and has his developments.
What's so crazy to me is that as an anime only, I went from "this is gonna take lots of loops damn, RBD will be tough" to genuinly wonder if he can pull it off this loop, or, even if not this loop. The next one.
Because he has started to gather so much intel, he has gone so far and done so much, not only, alone but with the help of others.
That he made insane progress he couldn't do if he abused RBD.

I am assuming that Al got Capella's metia at the same time as Emilia got ahold of Regulus' metia. It is almost like they were both using the same methods, and they got the same results. It is tough to know any more since Al has been off screen for a while.

A hold on Subaru isn't physically weak by normal human standards anymore lol, This man is high-key superhuman with the raw amount of damage he can withstand and The destruction he can bring with that whip! It's crazy
The proof Subaru has grown is that, had he been his old self, by now he'd certainly have lost heart and freaked out. But oddly enough, he's the only one alongside Priscilla with his mind set and still balanced, despite being arguably at the center of the worst the Archbishops had to offer so far. All thanks to what he learned in Sanctuary about valuing his life more.
Funnily enough, this puts in perspective how traumatic and overwhelming Arc 4 was. And also, in hindsight, how terrifying as a character Roswaal really is: what I mean is, so far, 4 Archbishops haven't done worse than him to Subaru's mind. Specially if you consider all the pulled strings and involvment he had bot just on Arc 4, but in all the preceding ones as well.
I really fear for Crusch's state. The fact they refused to show it yet, only makes me more anxious now than before.
We will see just how far Subaru has come when we get to Arc 6.

The Regulus scenes is what got me this episode and Emilia was trying to maintain composure, but couldn’t after the information she received.
On paper, Regulus would come off as pimpin for having multiple wives and a mansion, but it becomes unsettling when you learn how he acquired them.
Wilhem's first L wasn't when he lost his wife. It's when he blamed Reinhard for said loss.

I know rezero has a special place in my heart since this is the only isekai anime that is so good, I started reading the light novel. I can't wait for the next episode lol. Stands above all the current isekai anime. OP mc on an anime is nice if executed properly like Cid Kagenou, Ainz and Rimuru but not enough for me to search for their manga/LN. I just cant wait when it comes to rezero.

I mean fuck, even Julius has MAD respect for him... the same guy that humiliated him 1 year before (season 1) for besmirching the honor of a knight.... in this very scene... Subaru shows that he is more honorable than Julius for a few seconds... as he did not falter and declared that he will prioritize the lives of others before his designated target of protection (Emilia). Julius did not said anything at this moment... because he know that he would have faltered (at least for some moments) before making this decision....
Subaru's greatest critic became his greatest admirer over the course of one year... yeah... the pinnacle of honor of a knight.. if this is not progress.. what is it?

Episode was peak, especially with Priscilla. I wish they had actually shown Crusch and Subaru interaction, but that will probably come in future episodes. The best is yet to come!

hey chibi you should check out this new anime that's called Machanical arms its honestly great and from a new anime studio called TriF. The studio only has four staff but the anime is pretty top teir. The animation is pretty solid for such a small studio and the fact the anime went from a 20 minute ova that was crowd funded to a full fledged anime that's releasing 12 episodes is awesome. They even have the voice of gojo as one of the characters.
My only complaint with the episode is how did Subaru get his shoe back?

I feel like it’s a bit much to say that Subaru is still a loser. I’d say he’s definitely quite the winner by the time of arc 5. I could understand saying that about Subaru before the second half of arc 3 though.
I appreciate the explanations cause I rarely catch everything in this show, there is always so much going on. This episode was especially cathartic to watch as I kept thinking 'well at least our world is still better than whatever Subaru is going through' though how long that will last will remain to be seen... Just gotta keep up the fighting spirit as these guys I guess 😬

One thing i noticed is that most people watching this anime come in with the expectation of him just getting used to dying and devaluing his life and abusing his death to overcome difficulties. But what happens is literally the reverse. Subaru values life his and anyone elses more than anyone in the series. Because he is the only one that knows how it feels like to die.

Man, I hate that since season 2 most of the time when I watch re:zero I get this feeling of wanting something big/meaningful to happen or “cool” I guess, but most of the time I’m left disappointed at the end of the episode. Of course it has its bad ass and meaningful moments but most of the season is just stuff I don’t care for like some side characters or side stories. I guess you have to be really into the whole world and every single detail from the light novel or manga to really enjoy the show (I’m an anime only) I do care for some side characters and their stories and how they play into the story but I feel like they take a lot of the time from the episodes to where the story doesn’t progress much, and I have to wait a whole week and hope that the story at least progresses decently this time.
This is only Arc 5 (The most action packed arc of rezero), you're gonna have a real pain at Arc 7 with completely new set of characters, half of whom u would have to read some side stories to understand 😢

Subaru resisted the dragon blood curse because of the many dog curses he already had, they fought like parasites competing for the host's body

@tadeocaputo2036 the whole dragon blood thing hasn't been revealed yet as far as I know but I don't think Subaru has any resistance to curses and I'm pretty sure the dog curse vanished when they died I personally think their is something special and yet to be revealed about subaru
My 2 guesses.
1.Satella might be doing something to limit the dragon blood.
2.The Watch camera thing might work based on relations rather then direct pathways. So since Emilia used it, rather then a sin archbishop it connects to the Royal Canidates.

mannn, people who say that Subaru has no character development (while the entire series is about just that) just look up IF stories, are exactly like people who say that Ains is dumb while beliving Muzan actions are well thought. Like how can you not get (speaking about Overlord) that compering a person with like 150 ish IQ to 200+ would make anyone seem not capable enough, but going back to Re Zero, I love this series JUST Because Subaru is a real character, he changes altho he does fall back to his old way of thinking and thats a great pice of writing to be honest

I like the show...but after everything Subaru has been through...it kind of makes me wonder why he gets horrified or surprised or scared at what the archbishops do, and what they do to others...kind of makes me wonder about some of the development?
Well tbh the horrors he faces against aren't something that no matter how much a person goes through, can get used to it, it's just traumatic af

But it’s a good adaptation besides the missing information around episode 12 and the end of season 2

arc 5 is subaru at his best, and most developed. arc 6 is proof of the fact that he developed, and I'm so excited for that.

I can understand the frustration of ppl that feel Subaru isn't developing; he's been saved multiple times in the span of 3-4 episodes alone and then again (twice) within 5 irl minutes and gets told to simmer down by multiple ppl in different scenes, shit gets tiring to watch you can't blame them. I do like his ideals and how his mindset has developed (even tho its still cringe) but he really needs a better arsenal, Tappie needs to give our boi that Belmont fit; a shortsword, throwing knives, and crystal bombs (why hasn't he tried to have Roswal to get him some?). Also, RBD is too heavily relied upon as a narrative device, so it gets exhausting seeing it abused by Tappie over n over, whether it's to show us a narly death or for plot progression.
Most people want a godlike power to be called character development 😂

No Subaru has character development in the other scenario he keep using return by death specially with Pride route where he use return by death 80x just to find a timeline where he survive Elsa.
400x just to kill Sloth and a lot more for each Sin of Archbishop and 10k times trying to kill Reinhard just to found out Reinhard is unbeatable so he destroy his Hero title he made Reinhard the most powerful and most useless Sword Saint.
He even killed 129,059 people during the Wrath route where he was called the Purge King who is much more dangerous than Arch Bishop of Sins.. Subaru created the strongest mercenary group even the Witch Cultist won't dare oppose him, he only was defeated at the end when the Knights raid his base due to REINHARD BEING PRESENT but Reinhard nearly died & currently weakened in this timeline its the only timeline where Reinhard is nearly killed.
Then there is Gluttony Subaru he killed both allies and enemy just to recover his memories coming from the person he killed (He lost his memories was eaten by Gluttony-Roy) however he turned evil and become a much more dangerous existence he wipe the water town Priscilla in just a few minutes killed nearly all the people on it and once again like Pride he made Reinhard much more useless in this timeline, he keep teleporting with Shaula killing people or towns or anyone who has memories of him as a result the surviving Arch Bishop Gluttony Roy & Lust Cappella feared him once Subaru is near them they RUN, he also plan to kill Reinhard (left him second to last since the last one is Shaula) due two the following reason 1st Reinhard is OP it will take a lot of effort to kill him and Subaru, 2nd he need Shaula to kill people, Shaula is the cannon while he is the strategist, he become a natural disaster worst than the Great tree mabeast, worst than the witch cult, just like Pride he become an existence who is feared by people yep just like the Witch of Envy.
So Subaru has no character development? no he has if he keep using return by death he ended up a villian it twisted his personality due to experiencing repeated death with the most brutal way to die.
Look return by death side effect is He will die with the worst possible death before resetting.
In the current episode Subaru gained one of the most powerful Greater Spirit "Beatrix" as a result he can use magic as long as he is holding hand with Beatrix.
He gained authority of Sloth (yep useless only good for 1x surprise attack), even Subaru having that authority is good as sealing the most powerful authority of Sins, Unseen hand is the stronger authority Sekmeth is the strongest due to this ability until Envy appeared who uses the same ability .. Envy is really dangerous because not only she has return by death authority she has Unseen hand authority just like Puck said a 1,000 hands can easily kill him and Envy can use 2,000 which surpasses even Sekmeth the original creator of the authority.
Subaru can now fight as even without beatrix as long as he has his whip as you can see he is much more agile the Crusch who is a top tier swordman but again useless without the whip and Beatrix.
But now he gained the corrupted dragon blood since he has a previous curse from thousands of wolf type mabeast which was wiped out by Roswall to save him previously, as a result the quantity of the curse stock-up and created a really powerful curse that rival the curse of the corrupted dragon blood both curses clashed to take dominant with his body and they are equal.
As a result the wolf-type mabeast curse save him by accident (still active however no one is alive who can activate the curse that can instantly kill him), both merge and as a result he has the curse of the dragon blood but the curse of the wolf type mabeast keep the curse from activated as a result he gained the original ability of the dragon blood a BLESSING.
Yerp this blessing instantly regenerated his severed leg and gained instant regeneration and boost of physical strength on that leg, since the dragon blood can cure or heal any curses he healed Crusch by touching her without knowing that the curse will goes to his hand as a result Crusch was saved and the Curse blood that goes to his hand merge with it and gained another blessing YEP YEP YEP, he can now also regenerate that hand and become much more stronger.
Capella instant regeneration is due to the blessing of the dragon blood, he accept attacks and regenerate instantly, he even severed her entire body and regenerate instantly and Subaru gained that abilityl but only a 1x instant regeneration effect might be due to the contract of the royal to the divine dragon which is why they can use the ability repeatedly BUT damages/wounds on those infected body parts with dragon blood do heal fastl (no longer instant) and the boost in physical strength is permanent he also gained immunity from the curse of the dragon blood so Capella's blood no longer affect him (will make infected parts even stronger LOL).
The tower Arch he will meet Shaula and now she will gain a OP apprentice yep much more stronger than beatrix, Garf is strong himself but Garf is a kitten and Shaula is a Tiger unlike Garf, Shaula will kill anyone even ally without questioning Subaru as long as he order it.
