I would assume that "dense forest" is the area that is darker gray in the minimap, around the trees. So it seems that your trap is not in the right place
Your enthusiasm for the game has me ready to get it for myself. I enjoy your videos and and learn a lot as I watch. I’m a dad so I get very little time to play so watching your videos helps me pick what might be fun and gets me a good start. Thanks.
Those sharpened wooden spikes would be outrageously uncomfortable seats.

go to the Elder and ask about 'something special', then you are able to give hime the coin, which will raise your renown
research a loom. you need it for cordage and to make bow. you need a lot of reeds for crafting.

If you look at the map, dense forests would be the darker areas.

The game is breaking your mind. You SELL the coins to the elders of the towns, you open sell through a dialog option. (Remember to use Q and E to change sell/buy view)
Your trying to micromanage the workers, while the game is designed for you to be the leader, your not supposed to battle, your supposed to order your people to battle or order crafting items in the management interface on various building.
You put food in storage and the worker will go eat when hungry.
"Your trying to micromanage the workers," It's you're, not your. You are is you're. Possessive is your. Your comment, your opinion on his game play etc. Let him learn and have fun and know your way is just that, your way. Maybe a better way maybe not, but his game.
The dark areas with the trees in them on your map I’m pretty sure that’s where you’re supposed to put the traps
BTW, research and build the loom, then you can get "simple chord"
build Campfire and roast Mushrooms to give him for food.
also build some Camp Storage boxes to stow stuff in. storage is essential
I think traps should be set in those places in the map where trees are drawn, because it said that you need to put it in “dense forest”

build storage and he'll stop dropping things all over.
If you make a campfire and a chest your villager will eat/cook food from it to feed themselves. I just gather mushrooms and he’ll roast them and eat them.

Day one- meet the elder, make an axe and torch and equip them, don’t build a club you’ll need the space for your inventory. Find the herbalist just west (and slightly south) of town. Plant your personal hut close to his house, but away from the road as bandits travel along the road and will attack you if they spot you. Gather flax and wood from sticks, saplings, and young trees to build your personal hut and living tent (it will house two NPCs). Don’t attack/chop the (regular) “trees” (as they only yield logs) until you build two storage chests. Logs take up nine inventory slots and you can stack four logs into one chest. You’ll need two for the research desk, one for the logging camp and then five for the Stock Pile. Build a campfire, roast four mushrooms- they will last longer. Work through the night gathering flax, wood, and a few stones. Store those in the living tent storage. Build the research desk and put in the materials to research the logging camp. Day two - talk to the elder, the girl, then the hunter. If you persuade a beggar from the village to join you BEFORE talking to the hunter, the hunter will not join you. Head back to your camp, switch the companion to “worker”, he’ll start researching the logging camp. Once it is done, research and build the Stockpile. The Stockpile will give you 400 slots of storage space.
When you’re ready to gather logs, go after the mid sized, darker “trees”. They create one log per tree. You won’t waste time trying to find the right angle to split up the really tall trees once they are on the ground. You can only carry two logs maximum in your inventory
@@MichaelAcosta Maybe slow down and give just a few tips as they don't play as fast as al those things you suggest in two episodes let alone a single one.

Really enjoying this series. Comments on the developer have me a bit concerned. But they also did ARK, which is a solid, highly polished game.
If it was in the $10-15 range, easy. $30 ( or $27) is a harder sell.
Enjoying watching this. Actually, I like watching you play early access games because frankly I'm tired of them. Don't get me wrong. I have this, astrometica, Enshrouded and Nightengale in my wishlist but I'm going to wait. I say that as someone who has many of hours in Valheim, 7d2d and Palworld.
Understand where you are coming from, I also have Nightingale on my wishlist and I am going to wait on Bellwright also, but I did take the plunge and bought Enshrouded and I have to say that is a great game. If you love Valheim, then you will also love Enshrouded, it's a really polished game for early access and the exploration and building is fantastic.

You didn't build in a good spot at all if you go out to the South there is a large open field..... He is throwing things on the ground cause you dont have a chest for him to put it in lol
I tried it. It crashed at the start. Tried again and crashed just a few minutes in. Crashed twice in 12 minutes. For the first time ever, I refunded. Steam did it very quickly. I am not going to deal with a game that crashes all the time. Had enough of that with Starfeld.
Hasnt crashed once for me in many hours, its possible you need a driver update or something

Gosh man...lets watch you. But Snail Games have a long history of robbing consumers, baiting players into buying, and killing their game development with halted progress.
That's why I stay clear of anything that has the dreaded combo of Survival + Indie. 98% of them are a complete scam, they put it out with no intention of furthering development. This game is a major red flag as it looks like the poster boy for one of those situations.
