I love how drum judging is often just the judges ticking over how fire the performances are
That snare falling off in 2014 goes down in history. I saw it live and the audience just lost their minds when he started playing. Great job Allen!
Judge showing amazing respect for the performer. Wouldn't let him end his season without hitting those last phrases. Absolutely love it
Nobody knew his s#*% like Jeff Prosperie. We always played his tapes on the drum bus when we could get ahold of them. Perfect combo of praise and smart suggestion.
5:47 here’s what we came her for
Quality content right here. Best DCI UA-cam channel, hands down.
Especially since Courtney stopped reacting, maybe DCI demonitized her videos.
"MEAT. This makes me wanna strut"
Jeff says the hardest lines I stg 😂
we had paul rennick as a judge for a competition and the first thing he said when the drums entered was "yeah man"
I love the sound of the drums on these tapes, I'm so sad on-field judges are gone. it had its drawbacks, but there's no better way to judge a line than to be right in front of them
5:57 “i can dodge an axe i can dodge a spear”
0:22 is the greatest compliment a judge could ever bestow
Jeff really likes his onions lol
Dang I would have loved to hear 2014 SCV tape cause the percussion book is my favorite. I could listen to their stuff all day. I love how Rennick posts the standstill performances with just them. It sucks Vanguard isn't putting a show out this year.
David Collier is one of my favorite people! I studied with him while I was at Illinois State University, and he's still there!
Charlie Poole to 97 BD FTW…”Tight as a cat’s butt!” 🤣🙌🏼
Shame you didn’t have Allan Kristensen 03 tapes. He calls the BD baseline and SCV front ensemble bitchin lmao
This needs to be a series!
Jeff and his onions
Not DCI, but I love the video of STRYKE 2015 with the tape overlayed on it where he just pops off over a cymbal feature and a drum set solo towards the end of the show.
PLEASE never delete this video 😭
i need a wgi version of this yesterday this is great
That Phantom 2010 hornline sound so good at field level! ... yeah drums nice too 😂
That's crispy 5:54
Allan Kristensen Vanguard Cadets 2022. At the very end of the Open Class finals run “Vanguard Cadets. That was hot”
I swear to god they have as much fun sometimes as we do.. 😂
The spock roll was..... CLEAN
From Glenn Fugett SCV 1998, “Oh the Colors!”
There’s so many David’s!
Can we petition to get Wade from dankpods to judge on field percussion? I could only imagine his commentary😂😂😂
Charley Poole on 1997 BD no question; the best!😂🎉❤
“Fortisisisimo” got me lmao
the spock roll was cleeeeean
The best judges seem to be the biggest fans.
this year my schools snares cot the comment "ok snares, good for you"
Great stuff! Allan Kristensen IMO, best in the game. Call as I see it period :)
Glenn Fugett judged us at our last indoor competition
He sounds the same
I like that guy lol
If everybody is apparently sooo hot, how the heck do you differentiate the quality of execution in the score sheet?
these tapes are mostly from generational lines, and only represent part of just the battery’s show
My favorite judge will always be Allan. His tapes were always the best.
“Meat!” Gotta love Jeff!
Hey @Sforzando I was wondering if you the complete or partial versions of at least some of the judges tapes you used to make this video?
I had no idea Max was judging!
Are these guys judges or cheerleaders?
great stuff!
Charlie Poole is a national treasure
why are so many of them called David xD
10:18 😳😭💀
5:27 WOW
Those keyboards are snarelinin'!
Wowwwww!!!!!
10:19 tight as a … what?!
17:57 - Len Carey, 1983 Bridgemen - "HOLY SH!T!! What next?!?" Back when precision ensemble was THE pinnacle for drum corps, rather than all the posturing ...
More worried about salvation... than evaluation
Swcond
😂
Wait, in this whole video there's nothing on SCV 2018 Babylon percussion, who achieved a perfect score in finals, and is possibly the greatest cleanest percussion in DCI history? Bruh...
First
This is absolutely pathetic. This kind of fanboy-ing that goes on in the judging community is one of the reasons we don't have parity in drumcorps and also why Blue Devils win almost every year. These judges actually idolize the marching members. It's really sad. How about some professionalism, DCI? Nope, not here. We're just here to tell the kids how great they are, no matter how trash the music is.
I am going to make a quick comment about the content you heard.
I cherry picked the positive comments and the excitement from the judge’s tapes for a compilation.
That is why you will see maybe an average of 3 or 4 comments from a judges tape when there are dozens of moments the judge is speaking into the recorder. The rest are the judge calling out errors or providing feedback and direction to the members.
As a content creator, I find it more appealing to have a compilation of the excitement for judges watching corps they have judged throughout the summer succeeding…rather than “missed an attack there…” or “this section has been rough since June…”
Fanboying? No. I see it as a parent watching their child grow in an activity they have been dedicating hours of their life to each day, and finally “getting it” and succeeding at a high level.
@@Sforzando_DCI Well said. Nothing will ever stop me, or the judges, from getting hyped about musical achievement. It’s also worth noting that drumline culture is MASSIVELY different than brass. You almost never see crowds of people audibly losing their freaking minds in a brass lot. When I played on my school’s line, it was always the percussion techs jumping up and down on the sideline when we nailed a lick.
Dammit, I’d pay a lot of money to hear the 3 finals drum judges from 1987.
“I was more focused on salvation than evaluation.” Jeff is a national treasure
He was the master.
