Just wanted to leave some positive feedback... Had my navy interview yesterday for the royal navy and I passed it... This guide helps a lot... Something I'd definetly take the time to research is locations... For example where is hms Raleigh etc and the names of some boats as they do ask! Overall just be yourself!!!!!!
I’m only 14 at the time of writing this but I’ve always had a passion for being In service at sea. I’m watching this video so I can start early on my personal growth and what I need to do to become part of the Royal Navy. The branch I would like to work in is surface fleet, warfare, seaman specialist and I am currently looking into the background and history of the Royal Navy.
You might not see this comment but I watched this video a day before my royal navy interview and I passed thank you so much for your help weapons engineer here i come!!
Hey, well done and thanks for letting me know! Congratulation on your success and Weapons Engineer is a fantastic career in the Royal Nay! Good luck and well done :)
One thing to do. Make sure you know about the job you want to do. Phase 2 training for that specific job after Raleigh. Also don’t lie about things haha
Hello Richard. I want to say a big thank you for your help. I had my interview 4days ago and I passed , the interview was very smooth, I literally answered almost every single question without my interviewer probing deep on what I said meaning he was satisfied with the answered he was getting and so am really grateful. Keep up the good work.🤝
just got back from my officer interview and got recommended for AIB, I think the biggest reason I passed the interview was because of this video so THANK YOU!!!
I had my interview today, and I must confess that your video was a preparatory group for me to read more about the Royal Navy. I’m proud to announce that I passed it successfully. Thank you so much.

I watched this video and did notes the night before learnt them . And passed my interview . It’s easy guys, don’t worry, it’s more of a conversation than an interview . Have my face to face medical on thursday, anyone else In the application process! Good luck everyone 👍🏻
I went for my Royal Navy recruitment interview in 1968. I was met by a Chief Petty Officer who sat me down, gave me two sheets of paper. One was a basic maths test, the other an English test (I had to write a few sentences). Before I'd finished writing my sentences he asked me to spell beautiful. I did so - correctly. He then asked me to nip out and buy him a packet of Woodbine cigarettes, waving aside my concerns that I'd not finished writing my sentences with a reassurance that I'd receive a pass. This must be the reason for, at that time, the phenomenal pass rate. Presumably, those who failed couldn't find a tobacconist! However, at HMS Ganges (gruelling) training establishment one was required to pass NAMET (Navy, Army maths and English test) in order to proceed into the wider Royal Navy world. I did! RNF122 (HMS Gurkha) rather gives that away.
I plan on joining the Navy in one year so this video should help me with the interview if I ever get accepted. Thank you so much for this. It's a huge helper.
Congratulations!! I am so happy for you! :) I have this video for you that will help get your new job off to a flying start: ua-cam.com/video/znku_lZ8mA4/v-deo.html I wish you all the best in your new role! :) Please do let me know how it goes! This video helped a lot but one quick thing make sure you revise the Royal Navy e.g the ships they use and there names this was the bit i struggled on.
Just had my interview and I’m waiting for them to respond. I couldn’t answer one or two questions but I watched this video and it did help. Hopefully I pass!
At the time of writing this I am half way through an undergraduate psychology degree. Until recently I wanted to be a councillor but I’ve always struggled with the idea of a desk job. I have only thought of the Navy in the past month or so. I now have plans of being a mental health nurse. No where near ready to try for the selection process but I intend to use the last two years of my psychology course to train in fitness and direct my extra learning towards Naval life. Thanks for this video. Like I said I am no where near the interview yet but you’ve helped me to cement my goal of joining. I found I could answer many of the questions thoroughly and I’m now confident that it’s a good choice for me. Thank you.

That was actually one of my main concerns going into it, my examples of leadership, but he asked me about two mas long as you have a couple. Management in retail would be fine. Use an example from management of your team in retail, pertaining to a new project that you were in charge of, a new initiative, that kind of thing. The main part is seeing what task you had to do, what happened and the actions you took even if they weren't the best, as long as you explain after that you realised you made a mistake and offer as part of the STARL analysis lessons that you learnt from it it will be fine.

Just wanted to leave some feedback, this video really gives you a good idea of what there going to ask you in the interview. I passed my interview today. I have been in sea cadets for 5 years and I did a little CV of all the achievements and qualifications I have from cadets, I emailed it to my recruitment officer, and this gave him a good idea of what I’m like as a character As I’m only 16 and the CV really helped me and my recruitment officer didn’t have to ask me as many questions as he knows i know what I’m letting myself in for joining the navy ETC. I hope this has made sense to people, and if you have been in cadets I think it would be a really good idea to make a little CV like I did and send it to your recruitment officer.
They are the same or just worded differently from my experience, but if anyone here has had a newer experience it would be good to hear from them also :)

Ive got my interview coming up and ive applied for a warfare officer , do you know what questions that could come up ? ive also been reading up on recent operations the royal navy have been undergoing would that be helpful also ?
Hi, no problem... here's a selection of questions to help get you started: Q. Why do you want to join the Royal Navy as opposed to the RAF or Army? Q. What experience of leadership do you have so far? Q. What's the difference between a leader and a manager? Q. Where is the RN operating right now in the world? Q. Tell me six current affairs issues currently ongoing across the globe? Q. What does the role of a Warfare Officer entail? Q. What training will you undergo as a Warfare Officer and which parts will you find toughest? Q. Tell me about the ships you would serve on as a Warfare Officer? Q. What responsibilities have you had in your life so far? Q. What have you achieved in life to date that you can draw from as a Warfare Officer? Q. Give me an example of when you have worked successfully as part of a team? Q. When have you led a team to achieve a goal? Q. When have you remained calm under pressure? Q. What are your strengths? Q. What are your weaknesses? Also, don't forget to check out my website at: www.how2become.com/careers/royal-navy-officer/ I also recommend you start reading THE WEEK and THE ECONOMIST: www.theweek.co.uk/ www.economist.com/ The above will give you a good understanding of global current affairs. Amazing video. I will definitely be sharing the video with my college as I know a few people who are looking at joining the Royal Navy. It is also handy for every interview process as a few of the questions are inclusive to jobs on civvy street! Thank you for the tips.
When asked what my family thought about me joining the RN, all the way back in 2000, my answer was "It's none of their business." Blunt, but it seemed to work.
Interview this Friday, accelerated apprenticeship scheme< air engineering! couldn't be more nervous but I'm 100% certain that this is for me. if you have any role-specific advice this would help :) thankyou

Make sure you practice loads of psychometric tests, under timed conditions as these will help. We also have a book on the RN tests here: www.how2become.com/royal-navy-recruiting-test/
Thanks... Try these: Q. What does the role of a chef in the Royal Navy involve? Q. Why do you want this job and what qualities can you bring to the role? Q. Explain what a typical working day as a Royal Navy chef involves? Q. When have you worked as part of a team? Q. When have you worked unsociable hours and been flexible? Q. What training will you undergo as a chef? Q. Which ships are you likely to serve on? Q. What do you know about the history of the Royal Navy? Q. How long do you plan on staying in the Royal Navy for? Q. What are the key requirements of the role? Q. When have you followed strict rules and procedures? Q. What do you do in your spare time? Good luck! Richard

I’ve got my interview over the phone in 3 days due to covid 19, I’ll be joining as an RN rating is there any advice you can give me at all I’m very nervous I’m 16 years old but this career means more to me than anything
Hi, thanks for posting your question. To be honest, because the role requires attention to detail, I think I would prepare for these questions amongst others: Q. Why do you want to join the RAN and not the other services? Q. Why have you chosen the role of Aircrewman? Q. What type of work will you undertake as an Aircrewman? Q. What are the qualities required to be an Aircrewman? Q. When have you carried out tasks previously that require specific attention to detail? Q. Describe the training you will undergo as an Aircrewman? Q. Which parts of the training do you think you will find the toughest? Q. What do you know about the Merlin helicopter? Q. What ships could you be deployed upon? Q. Communication is a key part of this role, describe a time when you have communication important messages to other people. Q. Reliability is an essential part of the role - when have you demonstrated reliability in a work-related role? The above should be a good starting point and I hope these help :) Cheers, Richard
Hejdh Djndnd the interview is quite easy just tell the truth they ask about school tell them how it was truthfully if u hated it say that I said oh high school was shit I hated it the teachers where dicks and we had a laugh and I passed
Thanks for your feedback... I'm really happy you enjoyed it. Sure thing... for Weapons Engineer, I recommend preparing answers for these questions in particular: Q. Why do you want to join the Royal Navy? Q. Why have you chosen the Weapons Engineering branch in particular and what has attracted you to the role? Q. Tell me what training you will undergo once you join? Q. Which parts of the training will you find the toughest? Q. Tell me about the different type of ships you could end up serving on? Q. Do you have any experience of being away from home for long periods of time? Q. Why do you think you will make a good Weapons Engineer? Q. What experience do you have of working as part of a team? Q. What's your biggest achievement in life so far? Q. Have you ever failed anything? If so, how did you react and what did you do after you failed? Q. Do you think you did well at school? Could you have done better? The above questions are just a few off the top of my head to help you get started. Good luck! Richard

My reasons for choosing the navy is: 1) a life at sea is second to none 2) Royal navy's heritage is second to none 3) its the parent of all other UK armed forces 4) is the biggest factor in the safety and security of UK home and abroad in my opinion 5) is known to be deployed frequently to better places then the other branches of the military 5

Congratuations Ryan! I'm so pleased for you :) And thank you for sharing :)
@@CareerVidz thanks and no problem 👍🏻
Is the question any different between ratings and officers?
They are the same or just worded differently from my experience, but if anyone here has had a newer experience it would be good to hear from them also :)
This is absolutely a great video. Thanks for sharing mate
No problem 👍 I've a couple more RN videos I recommend here:

How do I know where I will be based and what ship I’ll be on for my interview question ?
Ive got my interview coming up and ive applied for a warfare officer , do you know what questions that could come up ? ive also been reading up on recent operations the royal navy have been undergoing would that be helpful also ?
Hi, no problem... here's a selection of questions to help get you started:

Amazing video. I will definitely be sharing the video with my college as I know a few people who are looking at joining the Royal Navy. It is also handy for every interview process as a few of the questions are inclusive to jobs on civvy street! Thank you for the tips.
Thanks Dana! :)
When asked what my family thought about me joining the RN, all the way back in 2000, my answer was "It's none of their business." Blunt, but it seemed to work.
Glad it worked!

CareerVidz, Thank you! Keep doing what you’re doing, all these tips have helped me a lot so far!
Ah thats the same course i applied for and i got an interview next week. Did you get in?
That's the one I want to do, how was the interview?
@@fernandoroberts3591 nah bro. Didn't get in. Said I didn't have enough engineering knowledge. However I did get in as an engineering technician which is a rank lower. I mean I'm not surprised as I was competing with people who done a uni course of engineering
You must of made a lot of money with all the how to books I have bought. Hopefully one job I will pass.
Good luck and thanks.
@@CareerVidz hi Richard I have a question. I bought the Navy book with loads of questions. Is your online version the same or do they have different questions? Is it worth getting then and doing them both.

Fleet air arm! Any tips for passing the psychometric test? I know I'm late but this would really help out!
Make sure you practice loads of psychometric tests, under timed conditions as these will help. We also have a book on the RN tests here: www.how2become.com/royal-navy-recruiting-test/
Very educational video,do you have any tips too give me on questions they will asked about being a chef
Thanks...
Try these:
Good luck!
Richard

Can you make one for the new AIB?? It’s very different and only a few questions around the role solely. Cheers
Thanks for the suggestion! :)
What questions do you think they would ask for Air crewmen?
Hi, thanks for posting your question. To be honest, because the role requires attention to detail, I think I would prepare for these questions amongst others:
The above should be a good starting point and I hope these help :)
Cheers,
Richard

Hejdh Djndnd the interview is quite easy just tell the truth they ask about school tell them how it was truthfully if u hated it say that I said oh high school was shit I hated it the teachers where dicks and we had a laugh and I passed
Great video do you know what they will ask you in your interview for a weapon engineer
Thanks for your feedback... I'm really happy you enjoyed it. Sure thing... for Weapons Engineer, I recommend preparing answers for these questions in particular:
Good luck!
Richard
Cheers Mate 👍🏻

Sure thing, Josh. Leave this with me :)
Hey there I have my interview next month was wondering if u could keep notes as its done by zoom now or is this OK? If I did whit out asking them😂
Yes you can have notes but my advice would always be to try not to focus on them as much as possible and keep your attention on the interviewer. When's your interview? :) Take a look at this: ua-cam.com/video/520_-W9aVcs/v-deo.html

Joe Chase How come, I passed the test about a week ago and they haven’t contacted me about any interview
SteelJackAttack hello there, it took them about 4-5 weeks to contact me after my psychometric test, so don’t worry capita are probably still processing your medical papers. Keep your positive mind set and show you really want it! Good luck my friend you’ve got this!!

My reasons for choosing the navy is:
1) a life at sea is second to none
2) Royal navy's heritage is second to none
3) its the parent of all other UK armed forces
4) is the biggest factor in the safety and security of UK home and abroad in my opinion
5) is known to be deployed frequently to better places then the other branches of the military
