Honestly this direction feels very in character for Jiren. He’s crazy strong purely due to pure strength and absurd fundamentals (and thus insane normals and pressure), but doesn’t have the normal WACK factor in his specials that other characters have. He’s on par with the likes of UI Goku or Broly through sheer will and power rather than, as he would put it, “cheap parlor tricks” such as frame 1 reversals or being simultaneously the best zoner and grappler in the game.

Being strong in a basic bitch way was boring in the anime but it translated well to a fighting game.

I like how this buff actually kind of fits his character.
Jiren was at his most interesting and felt the most powerful in the show when he was barely trying, taking people out with his weakest attacks while completely countering their strongest. It makes total sense to me that his play style should reflect that, pressuring people with terrifying normals and even light attacks, before baiting them into his counters
I see it as; if you were to take everyone's abilities away like the game/story does, Jiren would still be the greatest matial artist alive. He's trained the hardest for the longest with no family or distractions, and has an unshakable will, therefore he's the most skilled fundamentally and would be the most dangerous "unarmed" character
The visual aesthetics in this one were GREAT; especially the intro, and I love how the years are represented by a certain hue. Your use of colors is AMAZING. Music Choice was great too; the Pokken themes chosen fit to Jiren like bread and butter. Explanations are simple & easy to follow as always too. Overall, solid stuff, very cool!

I like the idea of Jiren being more of an aggressive powerhouse rather than a copy UI. It’s how the two interacted with each other in the first place.
i kind of slot him with a sort of playstyle some attribute to the likes of Baiken: instead of being a Defensive character like UIG, he's *Counter*offensive. Maybe not the most aggressive compared to the likes of rushdown characters, but with a type of aggression that just kinda snuffs and stuffs whatever you throw
Any chance we can talk about Tien, Yamcha, and Krillin and how insane they've gotten in the last few patches?
Namely Yamcha's new gimmick of having full invincibility on his normals, Tien's ridiculous number of options for opening you up (numerous overheads, a full-screen low, and even a command grab), and Krillin's absurd mix.
Being completely honest, Yamcha's invul on 5H is great but I many times forget 5M has invul since it works so rarely xD the real buff was the ki blasts and the WFF cancels
These devs care more about the humans than the actual writers of Dragon Ball.

What I love about Jiren is that unlike most other top tiers, he doesn't rely on a broken gimmick or move to carry him. He has his counters, but those are integrated into his moveset well enough that it doesn't feel like they themselves are broken. Instead, he just relies on his *jacked* fundamentals. Which is pretty in line with his character overall.
Most of the Pride Troopers, and almost everyone in the Tournament of Power had a unique gimmick or skill or something. Dyspo's speed, Hit's Timeskip, etc. But Jiren had just his own raw power. No fancy skills or anything, *just* raw power and control.

I like how through years of buffs they've pivoted what was supposed to be a defensive powerhouse into a dump truck that just rolls over people and punishes them from trying to get out from under the wheels. It's very funny.
You know, I don't really play the game now a days but watching your videos is always such a pleasure, especially given how much your editing has improved. I also like those little jokes you do using the in game sprites.

I still dunno if I'd call Jiren wacky enough to be top tier off how great his 2L is, but this video was helpful to me as, I had never considered throwing counters into stagger strings to punish antsy buttons. Thanks!

It's been SO long and I've always loved playing jiren, it's nice to see him finally be the powerhouse he should have been.
Really fun to watch. Feel like you could also mention the addition to his (hold) down heavy on the wall for combo extensions. That extra damage you can get from him is crazy.

Something I respect about DBFZ is that they aren't afraid to completely reinvent characters between seasons. Many other games are afraid to make drastic changes because it would contradict the creative vision of the developers. Here, they actually listen to what fans want and will work with what they have to fix things in a truly meaningful way.
