Grandma Cynthia was one of my favorite characters on the TV series, she always encouraged and believed in Alex and passed on one of the most important stories of our culture.

Can you imagine how "Overwhelmed" Simon's Mother Queen must have felt. To go from living in a Mansion to being cast by the wayside to living in Poverty but still perservering.

@Lynda Anthony Alec Haley wasn't Simon Haley's stepfather. Alec Haley was his biological father.

Funny how Will treated Simon the same way Tom treated him in the beginning.

It`s like that old saying "A Son Is A Son Until He Takes A Wife, But A Daughter Is A Daughter All Of Her Life."

Will and Cynthia Palmer didn't know they had a grandson until 3 months after he was born. Alex Haley was born August 11, 1921, and they waited until November of that year to introduce baby Alex to his grandparents.

I know that The Man who was once The Boss of Simon Haley's Father would have been blown away if he saw The Wedding. It shows one important factor that I learned over the years. It's not where you come from that's important, it's where you end up. It's irrelavant but alot of Boy Bands/Girl Groups from the US & UK can identify with that.

When My Parents got married in 1965, My Father felt guilty about moving to another city and leaving his Mother behind. She told him "Go to where you have more opprtunities, I'll be fine." He couldn't love any more than than. Each Sunday like Clockwork he would call to say Hello and when he visited her while on Vacation, he would spend the afternoon with her.

Irene did a great job, but by God, she looked nothing like the real Bertha George Haley . No comparison.

Cynthia was right but she didn't know (of course) that he waited until eight days later but they called it "rains". I'm sure that Omoro and Kunta Kinte were proud that the tradition continued.

It's slightly irrelevant but I remember seeing the Scene on Another World in July 1968 where Walter Curtin & his Wife Lenore got Married, and Ada Davis (Rachel's Mother) then played by Robin Strasser and how out of place she felt because she and Rachel were "Blue Collar" and The Guests at The Curtin Wedding were "Middle & Upper Middle Class". She knew that they were only invited because Rachel was married to Russ Matthews who were one of Bay City's most prominent Families at the time.
