    I once heard about a fellow who was studding History. In university, graduation. Raised the hand, and started correcting the professor. When questioned about his sources he quoted Vampire the Masquerade, the tabletop RPG.
    Sounds less than reasonable.
    However, I now realize_ watching this video_ that I am no longer able to hear about Cartage without remember it was the Utopian Paradise of harmony and peaceful coexistence between humans and vampires. According to clan Bruja. Destroyed by evil clan Ventru and their Roman minions. This "version" of History has prevailed over all others in my memory. I must admit.

    Love the clear list of four things I need in a city state, and differences from a kingdom!

    I started building the city in my Wip knowing I wanted a complex political structure which had certain elite families holding political power due to their magical abilities but still allow everyday citizens with less magical prowess to have a balancing political power.
    Guess I was building Carthage

      Carthage was a fascinating city :D You could do a lot worse as a model for a city state!

    Really liked this one. Especially as I am designing a world starting from the early city state stage.

    I decided that My main character(s) should come from a city state.

    Great video, thank you!! Do I detect a South African accent? 😎 While watching I kept thinking about Cape Town's historical and modern viability as a city state. I'd love to see some videos about how nations and empires crumble, and what happens in the aftermath.

      You do indeed :D Born and bred in Bloemfontein and then Jo'burg for 20 years before moving to Finland. That's an interesting idea. I'll add it to the list.

      @@JustInTimeWorlds Aah, it's the Finland that put a little spin on it! I was born in CT and back there now but grew up in the US so I have a mostly US accent with an SA flavor. Excited to find a fellow SFF Saffa 😁

    What do you think of a fantasy version of the Hanseatic League becoming an entity unto itself

    • @JustInTimeWorlds
      @JustInTimeWorlds  Рік тому +1

      I think that could be very interesting. Like a country?

    • @ronecotex

      I was thinking more like the Roman Empire you could go that route

    • @JustInTimeWorlds
      @JustInTimeWorlds  Рік тому +1

      Interesting. I'd base it on something like Venice or Carthage.
