      You can prune however you see fit and how you want to shape the plant. Rosemary is quite a tough plant. I usually leave 8-10 inches of growth and try not to cut shoots that have more than 3 side shoots coming out. Other than that, go wild!

    Please get rid of the annoying background music. It serves no purpose and makes it difficult to understand what is being said.

    Really useful video ladies, thankyou! 😊
    2:27 I think you can however use older leaves for other holistic uses such as oils etc.

    You girls did a great job in not telling us how to prune a rosemary; this lady wouldn’t even commit to a time of year to cut

      Perception is reality. I feel pretty confident in pruning rosemary after watching this. Only prune new growth. The thick woody part won’t give new growth so avoid pruning that part of the plant. It sounds like it’s a bit fickle unlike something like oregano. 🤷‍♀️

    How do you keep it from turning into that bark brown color? Like eventually you won’t be able to use the rosemary..

    • @jbalazer
      @jbalazer 4 роки тому +2

      I don't think you can prevent stems from eventually turning woody, but you can encourage tender new green growth by periodically pruning an inch or two from all of the tips. It may grow one or two new shoots below each cut.

    does Rosemary needs lots of water ? do we have to keep the soil moist all the time ?

      My mom had a rosemary plant at her home in the california desert. It was planted in infamous caliche soil...basically ground up rock. She ignored it...seriously, it was watered, if someone remembered, maybe once a month. That darn plant grew to be 7-8 feet wide and about 4 1/2' tall!

    • @TheRipeTomatoFarms
      @TheRipeTomatoFarms 5 років тому +1

      No, not really. I would say most Rosemary plants die in backyard gardens because people over water them!! Mulch them heavily to prevent excessive evaporation and temperature extremes and the plants pretty much take care of themselves! They are quite invasive in fact!
