I'm picking this up. It's a highly anticipated release. I've been seeing some people who have already picked it up. Some people are saying it's gonna release in Hardcover on the 6th but I don't see that option on Amazon
Man this is so tough cuz honestly I read his first 4 books and I just came out of them being like meh, it wasn’t bad but it didn’t captivate me either. But I know authors tend to improve as they go and I’m tempted to give John Gwynne another try. This was a very helpful video!
You read through all 4 massive books, then thought it was Meh?? That's definitely different! . Most either stop at Malice. Or read on and love the series. Each to their own I guess! 😉
@@ZamWeazle Yeah I knew it was his first series so I was hoping it could grab me, and don't get me wrong there were moments I enjoyed, but once I got to the end and looked back overall it was a 2.5 out of 5 stars for me. I may pick this one up, I'll have to see. :)
Amazing review! Quick question, if you don’t mind: is this book positive in anyway? Or is hope just not a theme ever found in grim dark types? Wanted to gift this to my brother, but he prefers lore and magic over purely blood and gore…thoughts?
Oh both are such good choices! But I have to go with Malice as the whole series has enormous battle scenes (like The Battle of Helm’s Deep in Lord of the Rings)
îf you would be so kind to slightly spoil the book as to its dragon content? Don't appear much/play no role/are just a monster to fight? If they don't come into play properly I might just start with Malice instead.
LIGHT SPOILER There are people in the book with dragon blood called Dragon-born, they are very rare and powerful and the dragon on the cover doesn’t come to play until the very end.
I was already planning on reading this, but you've made me even more excited to pick it up :-)
I’m so glad!
I just read the book last week this hole year I have read all of gwynne books and I'm really enjoyed them 😇🙂

His slower build up isn’t for everyone but I hope this book can be the one that changes your mind.

Hi Holly. I'm looking for incredible action sequences. Which one should I pick : Malice or Shadow of the Gods?
Oh both are such good choices! But I have to go with Malice as the whole series has enormous battle scenes (like The Battle of Helm’s Deep in Lord of the Rings)
This actually sounds amazing. Perhaps it will be my first John Gwynne book. 🤔
Well did you read it? How was it?

@@HollyHeartsBooks ah, thank you very much, that makes my choice easier
📚
Should I read the Malice serie first? or can I start with The Shadow of the Gods?
You can start with The Shadow of the Gods ☺️
@@HollyHeartsBooks Thank you ☺
I will pretend they all look like cast from the Vikings 😏
