@@SandyCheeks1896 His opinion on the 1st game was actually neutral or even positive. It's much closer to the books than W3. He started hating the games when they started overshadowing his books to the point people thought his books are fanfictions. This is exactly described in “Voice of Reason IV” in short stories collection “The Last Wish”, where Geralt in a monologue to Iola recounts this event and “Rozdroze Kruków” starts with the direct aftermath of this situation.

Absolutely, especially because they didn’t intentionally disregard or deviate from most of his established book canon at the time they made the games. I think TW1 was the most shaky in terms of adhering to book canon because they weren’t sure if their approach to whether it was a soft reboot or sequel to the book story.
Also Sapkowski can say the games “aren’t canon” all he likes but to me the games and the books are both equally canon. They’re both works of fiction in separate mediums. One isn’t more “real” than the other, that’s really down to fans. Sorry old man!

Mostly because the demand has gone down a lot since only a finite amount of monsters came during the conjunction so all monsters are much rarer which lowers the demand a lot. • @Oszczywilski
    @Oszczywilski 2 дні тому

In one Polish review the reviewer stated that "Rozdroże kruków" is constructed like a "road novel/road story", and that's why it feels strange for many people unfamiliar with this genre.
I enjoyed this book, because Sapkowski still has a good style and language, so it is written very well. It has its flaws, like some characters and the main plot are underdeveloped in my opinnion and the finale feels very rushed. Still it is a way better book that all those "epic fantasy story 5 books, each 800 pages" by American authors.
I wonder if Sapkowski was inspired by some stuff from the games. I mean the cat school. In the original saga it was never mentioned, except some cat medallions were in Bonhart's possesion. In the games the Cat School Witchers were mentioned as the most bloodthirsty from all witchers, in this book it is also that the school was erased because its witchers became too dangerous and brutal. (added later:) I checked now, apparently in the Season of Storm the Cat School as psychopat madmen hotspot was also mentioned, but this book was so forgetable, that I barely remember it. And in the old Polish comic book "Zdrada" the Cat School witchers were also featured as bad guys. So there is something about them before W3 game. Still, the middle section of the novel feels like a fanfiction of the video game, a character travels, takes new contract from not-notice-boards, quickly solves them and travels further. The W4 game with a made-up witcher character might have looked like that if they had not decided to made Ciri into the playable only character.

I disagree with Your conclusion that “Rozdroże Kruków” confirms Viper school. Through all the Sapkowski’s books, including “Rozdroże Kruków”, only 3 schools were mentioned: Wolf, Cats and Griffin. In the newest book there are mentioned 3 places where Witcher’s were trained. As Preston Holt was in Kaer Morhen, he was a Wolf, there are no mentions that any other schools were trained there.
Now the guessing part: As Holt was in disagreement with Vesemir after the angry mob attack, probably he was either requested to return the Wolf’s medallion or returned it by his own decision.
It would be a little strange when Holt would join the ranks of another school without addressing it why or a question about it from Geralt.
This Viper’s medallion could be related with Holt’s past or just being a symbol of his revenge.
Last but not least Sapkowsi in an interview with Polish magazine “Polityka” stated that using viper’s medallion in the new book, wasn’t reference to the games, but just a coincidence.

@alsimmonshellspawn6021 Well, if you’ve never watched videos about Witcher vampires from "Proper Bird," in Tesham Mutna, there is a poem that potentially suggests that higher vampires in Toussaint created their own enchanted, witcher-like warriors to act as their enforcers among humans. If that is the case, they probably spliced vampiric mutagens with the humans in question, likely in a more refined "Trial of the Grasses"-like fashion.
And Regis did ask, maybe in jest, if witchers use vampiric mutagens, so it COULD be doable.
That being said, if Geralt used vampiric mutagens-whether from higher vampire species like Katakans or Bruxae-and if they are compatible with his existing mutations, the powers could be as follows:
Significantly greater physical abilities, senses, and especially a healing factor (likely able to regenerate fingers over several days, maybe even limbs over the course of months or even years).
Improved body control/minor shapeshifting (you know how some Katakans and higher vampires can change forms? Well, imagine Geralt could make his eyes and hair look like normal humans, potentially better control over his pulse, hormone control, increased focus and perception, a temporary "hysterical strength"-like boost, maybe even make claws and fangs, albeit not very long ones [an inch or two]).
Improved hypnosis, which would likely manifest as a boosted Axii, and potentially as a minor and passive increase in charisma.
Unlikely, but... he could probably use their invisibility to an extent, at least via Aard (since it’s apparently a wind-based spell) or Quen (by somehow making a thin shield around himself that would refract sunlight), or a combination of both. Or maybe just an overall improvement in his stealth abilities.
Again, I must repeat, this is pure speculation, but I think they make sense. Hope you like it!

Huh.. I always Thought Geralt was 90-100 or so. Witcher age slowly right? So he just ages normally now? Hmm.. I kinda prefer the 100. And the idea that he would be alive another 100 unless killed in battle because we know "No Witcher ever died in his own bed."
Notice, a new book.. The Witcher.. who is the main character? Geralt. Of course. Why?? Because people love Geralt. People love The Witcher because of Geralt.
I'm tired of people saying that Ciri is the protagonist.

I never read the books but it seems like several people said in these comments that it says in the books that geralt is still alive hunting monsters 100 years after the ending of the main story of the books and his supposed “death” so it seems like witchers still live for several hundred years, all that the author did in the book was give a confirmation for geralts age when he was stabbed by that kid, so he still age’s incredibly slowly like we always thought

Isn‘t he finding his own mother in the short stories? I don‘t remember, if in the story where he fights off masses of creatures on a bridge and rescuing a merchant who rescues him afterwards from dying of his wounds, are hints if it’s near the other books timeline, but if he meets his mother alive, he cannot be 100 years old :D

While i like that he put the Viper school into canon...he retcon'd his own work with it and so he did with Geralts Age, as Geralt was known to be pretty much as old as Yennefer and then could not be almost 100 years old at the Witcher 3 which he was as yen is bout 2 years older...hes contradicting his own work and everything that came afterwards and with the mess he helped created at Netflix...wouldnt surprise me if they had a say there too... "new canon" yeah no...just retconning much. i dont like it.
