I am back all these later watching all the new ideas and developments of our original knock off’s of Lances brainchild. We still use ours frequently. Whether in our RV, tent camping on the rivers in SE Oklahoma or NW Arkansas, or as our kitchen on the back porch for the rest of the time. I really appreciate all the help all those years ago and I hope you are still enjoying yours. Now that our kids are older, we are now looking at building several others of different functions and sizes and may even begin trying to sell them at craft fairs. I have a crazy idea from the “skin and bone” method by the maker of the grubby kitchen over at blue sky kitchens, that may lighten the weight. Anyway, hope this finds you well and still camping.

Thanks Lance, I must have watched your video a dozen times. I think the rubber coating is called Dip-It... it's at your local Home Depot in the paint aisle. I taped off the legs and just brushed it on. I decided to go with wood handles. I had some thick maple lying around and routered handles from scratch. I used lag bolts to attach them from the inside. I also put about 4 to 5 coats of polyurethane on it because it can start raining without warning here in Missouri.

Shane, I really enjoyed making this cabinet. I didn't want to use nails or woodscrews (except for hardware), it was done with dado, grooves and rabbets. I did a lot of dry fitting and praying before I began glueing. Just got back from Labor Day Float Trip and the campbox was a hit. It measures 24x15x16. I bought the drawers at Bed Bath & Beyond . If I can get your e-mail address, I'll send you some close-up shots of the assembly.

Shane, sorry for just now getting back to you. I didn't get an e-mail notice that there was a comment on my video. You and I must think quite a bit alike because I had the very same question about the attachment of the bottom. I kept looking at Lance's video to figure out how he made certain joints. What I did was routered a rabbet on the bottom that only came up to the sides. And you and I both know this isn't easy because you have to finish off the rabbet by hand with a wood chisel.

Jerry, Looks awesome, just like mine! I love the configuration for a smaller box, and what a brilliant idea for the legs, I did notice moisture getting into the wood legs last time I went camping. What did you use to protect them?

Jerry, I am like you; I have watched Lance's video probably a dozen times as well. Starting mine this weekend! Couple quick questions for you, did you dado the bottom of the box into the side with a groove or is it just connected bottom up? Whats the height of just your box?

Thanks for the response. The name of your video doesn't let your video come up when someone searches " camp chuck boxes". The only way I found it was in the comments of Lances. What was the height of just your box?
