While it's easy to overlook, it has had massive effects in the Dark Worlds and will definitely continue to do so within the next Chapters of this game and thus might even give us hints as to what future chapters might be about...

King and Queen are tough fights, but their wills are fickle, they only have a default level of essence. Jevil and Spampter are jam packed full of essence. Dark and Light essence could be real, but I see it more like "ambient" essence vs "personal" essence.
Something other than Determination is going on though.
it would be really cool if the flowers end up being the secret boss. flowey and this boss would both be the byproduct of the dreemurs' turmoil in the form of a flower.
i could imagine that if you made toriel drop the flowers in the bin it could help you out in the battle in some way, for example after some attacks it drops down from the ceiling and heals the party

Just a heads up! About the Dark Fountain thing, it was actually confirmed by Toby himself in the UT 6th anniversary stream that King was a lot stronger than how he usually would be, only because he was next to the Dark Fountain.
So we can safely assume that Dark Fountains probably give a lot more essence to Darkners, heck, it might even contain Knight essence.
Well yes, it's what create the dark world and make the darkners alive, so it could make sense that if someone is close to a fountain they would be stronger

That would make sense with Ralsei, too! He only gets dual heal with the final boss of each chapter, but these bosses are only fought near dark fountains.

I've had a similar theory for a while, but I just summed "Essence" up as emotions. When lightners form a strong bond to an object, it is infused with their emotions, just like little pixels on a screen can hold so many emotions for the people playing a game. When a dark fountain is made, it takes those emotions and makes them real.
These emotions-made-real are then quashed when the dark fountain is closed, causing the objects to return to normal. However, if the emotional attachment and memories (another possible candidate for what actually animated Darkners) remain in the minds of the lightners who interacted with inanimate darkners, said darkners retain their form and purpose when a new dark fountain is made.
For example, a chair wouldn't have much emotional attachment, so the most it would get to be in a Dark world would be, well, a chair. However, a school computer's motherboard or OS (queen) would have a lot of emotional attachment, same as a commonly used program on that computer such as a task manager. (My personal theory is that whoever was teaching the unused classroom's class used to own Queen's computer, hence why the two dark worlds denizens know eachother.)

I'm amenable to the idea that Ralsei is based on the headband or crayon (and I used to believe it without reservation), but I've started to think differently. The idea that Ralsei's fountain is made of "pure darkness", combined with the fact that he had such an ambiguous form before the end of Chapter 1, makes me kind of think that maybe he isn't made from any object at all. Like, maybe *he* is pure darkness. Basically, the way I'm imagining it is that darkness is powerful because in total darkness, everything is left to the imagination. Darkners are given shape by the imagination of lightners, and the ones who are made from impure darkness are made from incomplete imagination; their form is partially based on something in the real world, so they aren't fully imagined, so they aren't purely dark. When we first "see" Ralsei, he is hooded and we don't see his body at all. Throughout Chapter 1, he is visible but his overall look is very vague (and I prefer his Chapter 1 character design, but that's not important right now). Then at the end of Chapter 1, he reveals a form that happens to be very significant to Kris. Like he's been slowly sculpted from imagination. First no clear form, then a vague form, and then a clear form, as he got to know Kris and Kris got to know him. And that's why he doesn't need any object to be transported to each fountain in order for him to accompany Kris and Susie there; as a creation of pure imagination, he isn't beholden to any light world equivalent. (I honestly might expound on this idea. Idk, I have a lot of thoughts.) I really love your videos and how they get me thinking about the lore!
Edit: I forgot to mention, I agree that there is significance to the fact that Ralsei seems to be, on some level, what Kris wishes they were, at least relative to their own family and community.
So you're saying that Ralsei is some kind of imaginary friend based on Kris's life? And he would be different with Susie's?
@@unosocongorra5779 I think they're just saying that Ralsei based and took their inspiration for their form off of Kris's imagination, so they still look the same for Susie, just in the majority of Chapter 1, Ralsei hangs with Kris the most, so they eventually formed (whether with intention or something that just happened) to appear based off Asriel.
Although they could look different to Susie who knows for absolute certain (other than Toby). But this is a really cool theory.
Your theory could be true, Ralsei is a darkner, and yet when he is away from his castle ( in another dark world) he doesn't turn to stone like what happened to Lancer ... So he could be "pure darkness"
Toby said in the last year stream of chapter 01 that King and Queen were affected by being near the fountain. In the case of King, near the fountain he was more aggressive than he usually is, and that is why after all of that in Ralsei’s castle he shows a more calmed attitude. I kind of feel that this could be related with your theory, and is something that was confirmed by Toby so it worths.

I also think that there could be essence in the King and Queen since the king card is very powerful and used very often and Queen, being a laptop is also used very often by lightners so they both may have a very small amount of essence from many different lightners as well as the knight's essence which would explain their power. A pattern being revealed is that the main bosses are often very commonly used by the lightners, while the secret bosses are usually discarded. You did say the spamton body had a lot of positive essence due to Mettaton creating this ideal body, but he eventually gave up on this body resulting in it gathering dust on the computer, similar to Jevil, explaining why they both have such a negative outlook on life. Anyway, the essence theory makes a lot of sense because the darkners power and feelings are definitely influenced in some way. Essence is just one name for this influence.
Edit: The cards and toys are abandoned since the classroom is as well. So it is possible that the feeling of abandonment is what drives the power of all darkners, although some feel this abandonment more so than others. such as Spamton and Jevil
As for Chapter 2, the internet was down so it is possible that the computer room is not being used as often as it was when the internet was up which is why the Queen is less blantantly evil than the King since she hasn't been abandoned for nearly as long
Who was the old teacher? As they may have had the pack of cards and Seam their old teddy bear which has built up a lot of essence over time.
the King card is also a requirement to play a high Ace card, as opposed to the much less valuable low Ace, which requires a 2 and 3.
@@lyrimetacurl0 I believe that Gerson was the old teacher. I think it is mentioned somewhere in the game. This could explain all of the religious references in the game because Father Alvin is his son and he is an important figure in the Hometown's church.
@@MintyMoron64 Yeah, I don't know much about card games but I do know that in most the king is pretty valuable. I don't yet understand the absence of the ace. It is possible that some of the cards may have been misplaced in the time the classroom wasn't used
Although, it is possible that the other toys and cads felt abandonment as well because the classroom is unused. The king, obviously not to the same extent as Jevil, since even when the lightners were around they still neglected him.
The chapter 2 darkners could also feel abandonment because they are so used to being showered with attention until the internet goes down.
This makes the essence theory more compelling and explains why the Knight made the fountains where he did. He knew the darkeners would be more powerful since they had so much negative energy from their lack of attention from lightners.

I agree with essences but I don't think it will be directly stated in the game. I think the meta-text surrounding darkners is the relationship between people and what they create. Not just the fact we create them but we pour ourselves into them in some capacity. This relationship can take many forms such as Mettaton's body being their hopes and dreams. There's also the way in which objects are viewed socially such as the way the Card Castle darkners were abandoned by lightners. Of course Toby Fox had the idea for Deltarune before Undertale but I think it will be a way for Toby to dissect his relationship to Undertale as well as its explosion of popularity. Anyways, I really enjoyed your video!
I agree 100%, i don't think "Essence" is a concrete thing. But it is clear to me that the feelings of Lightners shape many aspects of the Dark World, including its darkners. Even more so when the dark world formed around the darkners and with the will of its creator.
Definitely agree. And although it might not be directly mentioned, I do think that it'll be great fuel for foreshadowing future chapters, like the chess theory
This kind of changed how I view Kris's and Ralsei's relationship. Maybe this is far-fetched, but what if Ralsei were to Kris what NEO is to Mettaton? What if Ralsei is (or was) what Kris wanted themselves to be like?
This would explain why no one acknowledges Ralsei as being similar to Asriel (if e.g. Noelle did that please correct me), as he just isn't - why would Kris's "fursona" look exactly like their brother?
And about Kris not feeling comfortable about Ralsei... Who wouldn't be weirded out and suspicious if they encountered a literal idealized version of themselves?
Tying into this the video - all of this would be because that headband or whatever was infused with Kris's essence etc, that's how I got this idea.
Just to correct you, when Noelle and Kris view Susie and Ralsei from an alleyway at the carnival, Noelle comments that Ralsei "looks a lot like..."
We've got no idea what Noelle is actually thinking here because she trails off, but the Holiday and Dreemurr families being close could mean she was talking specifically about Asriel or Asgore or Toriel, or the whole Dreemurr family goat monster appearance. She isn't saying that Ralsei looks like Asriel but it's implied depending on how you look at it
Now Noelle's comment is a comment about Ralsei's appearance, not his demeanour at all. With or without my correction your theory is super cool and its cool enough that I'm commenting on it a year later lol
On the fursona note, to be honest, seeing that Kris wore that red horned headband for ages and is implied to have a thing about not being a monster and not fitting in with their family, I would be surprised if Kris' fursona DIDN'T look like the other Dreemurrs and I would definitely not be surprised if it looked like their cool popular older brother who they love and admire deeply

It seems, even if she wanted to say that he looked like Asriel, that it wasn't completely obvious. Though perhaps she can't remember well how he looked... but he can't have been gone for that long, can he?
And either way, it's logical that Kris designed Ralsei based on their adoptive family, and have a similarity this way. Perhaps it's even a way to get closer to their brother, to feel like a proper sibling (the anagrammed name fits that too, it's easier to twist something that you know than come up with something from scratch).
There's also the discrepancy between pronouns... but I've come up with plenty of ways to explain that too (though some of them involve... uh, an "unpleasant attitude" from the Home Town community...)
wait if Ralsei is Kris' ideal version of themself, that implies that Kris is either a trans man (assigned genderless at birth but is actually a man) 😳, or that they have some internalised enbyphobia (they've somehow been convinced that their gender is wrong)

@@TheFlyfly Not necessarily dumb, there could be something here. Look at the state of the ghosts, for example. Here in Deltarune, Mettaton and Mad are both shut-ins, with Napstablook being actually out there and kinda open. But in Undertale it was the other way around.
So perhaps, unlike the way it is Undertale, ghosts are actually expected to stay nb, not adopt a new identity and possibly also gender by getting a physical body. And that attitude... is transphobia. Because of it, Mettaton and Mad would be marginalized... unlike Napstablook, who actually fits that expectation.
As for Kris, adopting an nb identity could be a stopgap for living in a society, that does accept nonbinary identities (because they are "natural" to some monsters), but not gender transition.
According to this theory, I think the shadow mantle may be a piece of cloth from something Asgore or Toriel wears, then the cloth will have a lot of essence from either of them and counters the effects of the essence from the owner of the cloth in the flower.

Man those sprites gave me some heavy dose of nostalgia hit.
One of the things I love about the NEO suit is how weak it was in Undertale - built mostly for show - vs how strong it is in Deltarune. It's a running theme that (at least most of) the Blook family dreams of having a corporeal body, and "Mettaton" very much wants his to be strong and popular. It's no wonder the Darkner that dreams of being a [[Big Shot]] - a symbol of power and popularity - is the one who inhabits the NEO body. And it's especially tragic that despite Spamton being loaded into the NEO body, he's still controlled by the puppet strings and still more or less shunned by the Addisons; he neither achieves the power nor popularity he's so desperately wanted.
NEO is weak in Undertale because Alphys didn't have enough time to build it fine/Mettaton changed almost his entire defense by attack, because NEO in Undertale, if you check it, has more attack than boss monsters like Asgore and Toriel, and a bit less than Undyne the undying, but only 9 defense, also NEO was not to use it in show, EX and Box was, NEO was supposed to be a human erradication machine
And Spamton wasn't ignored when he got NEO, he just turned into NEO, and then got beaten by you/collapsed because you snapped the wires
@@andygiraldo7898 good catch on MTT NEO's stats, I didn't even think to check that :) yeah I guess I misinterpreted it as still being for show based on MTT's general personality.
To clarify, I wasn't saying Spamton was ignored when he got NEO; I meant that when you go and talk to the Addisons after the fight, it seems like - though I believe they're only aware of his death and not NEO - they still more or less shun him. Hence him not achieving the popularity he wanted.
I mean, if spamton was ignored 99% of the time, with only noelle ever responding to him, then I'd say he was still abandoned and cast aside by lightners.

I think your onto something, but it isn't “essence” per se in the real game, but i like the idea of the next main boss being totally different - since the fountain was created by kris. I think “essence” might just be part of the lightner's souls themself? Great video though!!! :D
I agree, these are good insights but I don’t think they point to “essences” as a measurable substance in Lightners’ bodies in the same way that Determination in Undertale could be extracted from and injected into people.

Although the flowers in the bin could be interesting as a secret boss and makes sense with the essence theory however I deeply believe that the secret bosses will be either based of a nintendo n64 or gamecube (copyright free versions) it would even make sense with essence theory it would have krises essence but also abit of asriels assence aswell

Honestly, you call this a CRAZY theory, but it hinges on some very basic queues and context clues that yield it a surprising amount of believability.
Everything that happens in a dark world is influenced to some degree by the area, things, uses and so forth of whatever is around the Newly Forming Fountain.
Essence as a term may not be used, but the basic idea almost seems inevitable in its inclusion.
This IS a bit of an adventure mystery drama, after all. We are having an adventure, solving a mystery about elements that we yet do not understand while playing an ARG and putting together clues Spamtom being the Pipis that would not hatch, icee possibly playing a far bigger role than we dared consider, Dess's involvement in the current story to some yet unknown depth. And then, there's the stuff outright in the game
Jevil possibly being the Joker card, Ralsei being the red horn band and missing green crayons, Lancer and Chaos King perhaps being Hamsters lent to the water bottle, cashew love provided by King and the general likeness to these cute animals when you look at them carefully and so on.
The Adisons are Ads, Tasque Manager is what you hear in the name, Tasques are what you hear in the name... it's all very grounded in logic.
And the Knight influencing the King is verbally acknowledged by several characters, including himself.
Queen wants Noelle to be happy, because Noelle has an effect on her, perhaps, but goes about it the wrong way because she is under some misconceptions.
These are just the obvious things. I firmly believe this is where the story is driving as I've played enough, read enough and watched enough stories where things like this, clues like this, were used to great effect. It would be mind-boggling if this is NOT the case.
Just because something is obvious does not mean it has no impact. Sometimes anticipation is formed from expectation and pays off just as much as a less obvious twist does, if not more.
In closing, maybe you should place more faith in this theory. Maybe, even, you should dig further into it.
Lancer and king are literally cards?? You have lancer in your inventory and he's the ace of spades
Jevil being a Joker card makes so much more sense when you think about it. It's a card almost everyone ignores and neglects. So of course there has to be some build up of negative essence from that. And it would make no sense for all of that essence to just go to waste so it must be driving Jevil in some way
he also just wants to play a game (although that game is murdering lightners i guess) which sort of alludes to the fact that he is discarded and unused, but he wants to be played with like all the other cards

A lot of people don’t consider this but guys, come on, the reason that Ralsei doesn’t turn to stone is because Ralsei isn’t from Lancer and Rouxls Kaard’s dark world. The Closet dark world’s fountain is pure dark so Ralsei can just wander around any dark world and not turn to stone. Lancer and Rouxls Kaard’s dark world is the unused classroom dark fountain and is filled with something else that doesn’t make Lancer and Rouxls able to go to another dark world without turning to stone. A lot of people don’t consider that the closet dark world and the unused classroom dark world are different when that is not true. Just because we don’t get a light world transition doesn’t mean they are different dark worlds. The great door that connects the field of hopes and dreams literally resembles the door connecting the actual unused classroom with the closet.
Also, just another thing that a lot of people count as canon for some reason is that Kris carries around the horn headband that is Ralsei when put in a dark world. However, when Kris leaves Susie and Ralsei to get the stuff from the unused classroom, Ralsei just stays in the dark world which wouldn’t make sense if Kris left. You might say: “We don’t know if Ralsei stayed since we only see Kris’ perspective” which is true but 2 reasons for you:
1) Susie would’ve said something when you got back like “Ralsei, why did you disappear for a second?”
2) Surprisingly enough, a lot of people still don’t notice that you can actually see Rouxls jump out of your pocket when you enter the cyber dark world. This effect is actually used when you bring the stuff back but it comes from the ball of trash showing the other darkners, and not Kris’ pocket so that means Ralsei stayed.
So does that mean that Susie has Kris’ horn headband? As crazy as this theory sounds, it’s possible that Susie is homeless since she is always hungry maybe showing her being underfed, when Toriel asks Susie to call her parents to ask if it’s okay to go to the sleepover, she kinda just… doesn’t. When there is the four shadows in that puzzle room, (heh, four shadows, foreshadow. That’s funny) one of the shadows show a purple house and a lot of people thought that Susie had a house from that but maybe it’s showing a lack of one. All of this evidence for Susie being homeless could be a reason if Susie stole Kris’ horn headband, because she can’t get a lot of stuff herself. (Another bit of evidence could be that Susie never mentions even once if you go near any house if it’s hers, and it seems that every house is already occupied.
It's also not guaranteed that a darkner would be incompatible, ralsei specifically say they "may not be compatible" with a particular dark world
Star walker stays the same, roulxs kaard only partly petrifies in the normal route, and Queen is implied to have visited the card kingdom at some point to meat king
Compatibility could be related to what a darkner is in the light world and what location a dark world is created in.
Star walkers light world form isn't known but maybe it's a gold star sticker, and there's nowhere where that wouldn't really fit, roulxs kaard may have some relevance if you're playing a card game on a computer so in the normal route he's partly compatible with the cyber world, but in the snowgrave route there's no reason at all for him (no fun allowed I guess)
Queen being a laptop makes her compatible with anywhere as it's a portable device meant to be used anywhere, if ralsei is the headband then there's not really any reason for him to be incompatible anywhere either.
The reverse is probably true too, the closet dark world is... a storage closet. You can put anything (well anything small I guess) in there and it would make sense and be compatible. The card kingdom is a made from a classroom apparently meant to be used for young children so it's largely filled with toys and games, and the cyber world is made from a computer lab in a library, so it has a general "computery" vibe and most darkners would probably be at least partly compatible. Lancer being a normal playing card really seems like more of an exception.
I always wondered if perhaps dark worlds are instead affected by people that enter those worlds
King saying the same line as susie about quiet people pissing them off
Or spamton having a lot in common with noel , Queen being kinda like a mother figure, etc
Jevil being a being affected by susie
And spamton by Noel And perhaps berdly too
Could Also make sense for items they get from those secret bosses

Or puppetscarf having connections to guitar strings And being an item given to a character having similar role to Noel

This is... Understandable. I understand and respect most of the concepts,nit too convinced,but i can see something like this existing,and,this is also the first time i see somone try to explain why some darkners are just stronger than others. Also,spamton and jevil could be empowered by the shadow crystals,instead of the dark fountains,or GHAAAAAAAAAAASTEEEER ESSENCE!!!

Thank you for making this, you've helped me articulate so many ideas I had about the game for a while. Ordinary items being imbued with the hopes and dreams/essence of Lightners around them, shaping their forms and abilities in the Dark Worlds is how I've been interpreting this game ever since chapter 2 came out and it definitely seems plausible with the number of things it explains so far. Negative essence also seems very interesting since it mirrors the concept of positive and negative photons that ordinary light and Dark Fountains have respectively.
One interesting place to consider the effects of this is Gerson. Alvin says that his book "Lord of the Hammer" is very popular and has many fans, whose collective essence may be imbued into the hammer symbolizing it and Gerson's spirit, buried underground in the cemetery. If it ever comes in contact with a Dark Fountain, it would have a very powerful aura in the Dark World and might even support the "Gerson is the Knight" theory in that regard.
Mystic, even IF this theory is proven completely wrong and irrevelant in the future, please don't delete this video, it's memories being created for when we look back in the future
Hey that's a good theory Slime ! There is obviously something going on with the essences of the lightners puted in the Darkners ! I find that interesting that Ralsei would be the person that Kris would want to be ! (Just like their older brother)
But from we know of Kris personnality.. (Prank Lover, always average, a brother that shines so bright that they can only live in his shadow..), how would that essence feel on to Ralsei ? (If Ralsei has Kris essences that is).
i just realized the december room might literally be a representation of how noelle would type "decembers" name into the computers to try find information on her. thats so sad if true!!
Yes!! I’ve been thinking about this theory for so long, I’ve been waiting for someone to make a video on it!
I was doubtful at first but that makes a lot of sense. I think it may be more likely that instead of it being actual magical essence it is just that lightners affect the dark world they inhabit as we already have souls to understand we don't need more. This would also explain why Flowey is so negative as he is created from Asriels remains after being murdered, which Asgore and Toriel would've been around before Alphys took it who was under immense stress and guilt. I think the nature of Flowey is important to Deltarune because of the Rudy being brought back to life prediction, The Ralsei being Asriel' dust brought back theory and Flowey's hint to Darkeners in which he refers to humans, monsters then everything else showing three circles rotating like Seam's buttoned eye.

I had a theory that is similar to this but instead it's more like the lightner's light can affect the shape of the shadow cast which is why a dark world takes on the lightner's will, their determination or "light"
In my opinion, Toby Fox won't give us a full explanation of everything even after chapter 7 because that would kill aaaaaall the fun from the misteries and theorising

I actually came up with something’s a few mins ago that can support this
1: Dark Worlds, So you already established cyber world having some essences with mettaton and Noelle, but what I thought is that the cyber world could have other essences from other townsfolk due to it being a computer lab, due to those rooms being places you can overall express yourself, along with the abandoned classroom. For the Closet aka Castle town this is generally true aswell seeing as many people don’t go in their essentially (pun intended) making it a plain space
2: Darkners, while you are right about King being a combination of Susie and the knight there could be potential backstory, Susie has always been a lone wolf and seeing as nobody would wanna hang with her she probably went to the abandoned classroom and played with the King card specifically, seeing as kings are referred to as higher power and strength hence why he is just like Susie, but what I really want to mention is Spamton and JEVIL. they both have some similarities mainly being there psychotic nature, but what I realized is that it could be due to 2 main factors, Loneliness and insecurity. First let’s talk about Jevil, Being the jester card he was always casted aside only used during very few times, these situations can make a person lonely, which could lead to unstable and unhealthy mindset, being able to see the world as a game, and this can be the same for SPAMTON, or more specifically mettaton.
It’s normal to be casted aside on the internet for something you made just as much as real life, which can overall lead to insecurity on what you love, but others don’t. This can be said for both SPAMTON and Jevil
I've always thought that the reason why Jevil was so powerful was because of what Gaster taught him along with the fact that he just worked super hard, though like I mean it could explain why he's so naturally powerful and how much he needed to harness and bring that power to his abilities, along with the fact that he is the Joker card.

I'm curious about Spamton speaking about his friend Mike, Maybe a shared essence of Spamton and Mike may have something in common. I noticed in the song Big Shot as we hear Spamton speaking to someone or presumably Mike but when it get's to the end any clues who could of asked Spamton if he wanted to be a bigshot maybe the knight or someone else. maybe in Chapter 3 we get more insight on what happened between Asgore and Toriel.

I think that Lightners' influence in the light world is different in how it's seen in the dark world. In the light world, Mettaton drew the NEO body in a program, but in the dark world, it was as if Mettaton built it with Swatch. And when Gaster made Jevil and Spamton insane, he probably like installed the Spam virus in the computer lab and in the unused classroom he hid the joker card.
The Theory you made is a good one. A part stood out to me; when you said that since the dark fountain was set off in Kris' house and that it would revolve around where the dark fountain was set off, this made me think of that end scene in chapter 2. I just think that because of the cutscene that it could be implied it could be Mike(the one who calls spamton multiple times on the rotary dial phone. Mike is thought out to be the one at the end of, well, chapter 2 and a tv is a household items so it would make sense that it could be the big bad in chapter 3. I'm not too sure if the tv has any negative or positive essence but it's a possiblity.

When Susie fights Lancer on chapter 1, she repeatedly deals massive amounts of damage (up to like 200 per turn) and he survives, meaning his hp is close to quadruple digits, which is insanely powerful. Who tf is out there forming such a strong emotional bond to the Jack of Spades in a deck in the unused classroom.
his hp actually goes up every time you encounter him
in the first "battle", the one after he rams ralsei with his bike, he has 540hp
when you fight lancer and suzie together, lancer has 800hp
and then when suzie is fighting lancer, he has 2400hp which basically puts him within the hp range of like a proper boss fight
so with this theory in mind i think that this is directly because of Suzie's attachment to lancer the character and not the playing card
i get that the suzie vs lancer fight happens at a low point in their relationship
but the reason suzie is THIS mad in the first place is because she trusted and cared for lancer, so this is for both the positive essence he got from the whole being bad guys together thing (maybe the reason it's low during their fight together is because it's delayed or smth idk) and also the negative essence from suzie's rage and hurt

I like this, it's a good way of wording a similar theory I had, that Darkners are the shadows cast by Lightners attentions made real, and more intense attention creates more intense shadows.
I've had the running theory that it's Imagination that forms the darkners, and the history of how the kids played with the toys/objects gave the darkners their history and personality, but it's similar in concept to your essence, I think. Computers "know everything" so the Queen is smart. Seam has history with Jevil likely because some lonely kid pretended to play cards with his plush. Jevil "can do anything" because Joker cards are wild cards. Spamton became what he was because Noelle believed he was a real person doing real things; he wanted to [become real], took some design a lightner (mettaton's ghost) designed then trashed and made it his power. The house where Kris and Asriel grew up is going to be insane.

I don't know if I feel like the Rudy thing will happen quite like that, but it's still quite an interesting idea. As for everything else though, I absolutely feel like it'll play out quite like that, if not exactly like that! It just makes too much sense not to.
In the same more subtle way that Berdly influenced the second dark world, I think Undyne and/or Napstablook could also influence the third dark world. I say this because of Toriel having called the police that night about the tires on her car being slashed, asking an officer to come over... and I'm pretty sure Undyne and Napstablook are the only cops in the entire town, now that Asgore's been given the boot by Miss Mayor™, Carol Holiday. Since I feel like the third dark world will heavily center around the theme of the television, I bet this could result in some funny satirical references to cop drama tv shows.
I particularly like your predictions about the secret boss for the third chapter!! It also especially feels like it makes too much sense not to happen. I wonder how similar they could end up being to Flowey... but I doubt Toby would do anything too on the nose.

And kris essence in the first chapter is his mysterious nature in the dark world , but after the first chapter, when the lights turn on, it’s just toys and board games, hence the innocent nature of kris?
I really doubt this theory, because, well... It doesnt really have much stuff to back it up, but it does sound really cool and i do like it!

The final boss may also give some insight as to why toriel and asgore split up. I don’t think it’s explained so by having the secret boss be the flowers, it could have some lines relating to the divorce

hey thing for your theory, each boss has so far had the essence of who ever kris is with so far.
the king is just a pure susie rage character, fighting first talking later, quoting them, and when susie defeats them its like her defeating her own anger.
queen is a bit from berdly bc videogames and being obsessed with noel, and having the traits from noel like the fact shes alot like her mom in how she treats noel and for her annoyance of berdly.
i dont think these are stretches either from anything these characters do, just think about it and youll pick out more stuff queen does that relates back to them. this was more of a boot on "the knight" theory bc the knights not needed
This is similar to a theory that I've held for a long time, but I don't think you went far enough with this. Why are some objects turned into darkners and others into areas? How do Jevil and Spamton transition from darkner to object? Why is Lancer able to turn back into a card when in the dark world? How does determination fit into all this? How do Darkners talk about having interactions with eachother before the dark worlds were created?
If you're interested, I could give you my own thoughts as well.

I do have a idea slight alteration to Jevil and Spamton. Considering how, as far as we believe, they were changed by Ghaster which is a whole different entity and power entirely compared to the knight or Kris.
Meaning the reason they hit so hard (on top of the positive Mettaton energy in the NEO suit) is from the presence of gaster altering their life. Might not be Ghaster's "essence" but could be his direct manipulation.

id argue that spamton also had negative essence. even though noelle paid attention to him, he represents spam mail which is something most people ignore. makes me start to wonder what we ignore on tv that could possibly be the next secret boss 🤔
but yea honestly, i think this theory is extremely credible. especially when you remember that monster funerals involve putting the dust on an object so their essence can live on within it. objects and essence have always gone hand in hand in the overarching lore so it makes alot of sense that deltarune would explore this given most of the cast are literally items.
im actually really excited at the possibility of getting more lore about essence. its something ive always wanted to know more about ever since undertale introduced the concept lol

Going with the essence theory, I think the secret bosses could have also been imbued with the strange man mentioned by Seam and the Addisons, presumed Gaster at the moment. This would explain why jevil is quite a bit stronger than the bosses of the fountain, while also fitting in with spamton being strong enough to be a boss, but not as strong as jevil on his own (since Jevil came into direct contact with the strange man, while Spamton only had contact over a phone, which would presumably weaken the essence tranferred)
your explanation of essence is just Ralsei and Flowey's explanations of the soul with more words
one big thing abt Jevil being so filled with negative essence to due being tossed away and unused due to being a Joker - if that’s the case why isn’t Rouxls stronger? By design he’d be meant to be maybe used once ever, but normally just thrown away instantly, so he should theoretically be an incredibly powerful Darkner with insane negative essence
A couple of things just clicked together after watching this, and it paints a bit of an unpleasant picture.
In Undertale we learn that when Monsters dust, it's common practice to sprinkle that dust on a favorite object of theirs as a sort of bodyless burial. While it's unclear if Monsters still do this in Deltarune (Susie's comments about blood in particular stand out here), if we assume for a second that they still do, and that they still have this practice, then a fascinating possibility opens up.
Dark Fountains take objects and turn them into sentient beings based on how they were used in the Light World. Now imagine that an item imbued with Monster Dust is placed in a Dark World. You might just see the original Monster brought back to life (although almost certainly flawed in some key way, otherwise too OP).
Now we get to the tragic part. In a previous video, you described a future event that has been foreshadowed in Chapter 2: Noelle...or Ralsei? You speculated on these two having opposing agendas, and needing to choose between them. Perhaps we now have our recipe for this split. If Rudy should die, a heartbroken but intelligent Noelle may come to realize that her father's dust inhabits an object that can be given life via a Dark Fountain, and seek to create one of her own in a desperate bid to bring him back. This would very obviously pit her against Ralsei, who wants the number of fountains to stay limited. Thus we get our split, where both people devoutly believe they're doing the right thing, and the answer is not so cut and dry as to who's in the right.
As an interesting aside, the most likely place for this object to be located...is the Graveyard. And a fountain created there would ALSO bring back any other objects imbued with monster dust that were buried in the plot. Which means we would get to see the (not-)Amalgamates in this fountain alongside Rudy. Could be a fascinating reuse of the concept that brought us Flowey. With all the foreboding that sentence carries with it :P
But you would throw the dusty item to the closet in the school, without creating a fountain
@@andygiraldo7898 That would be the smartest way to go about it. But if the item containing Rudy's dust was already buried, it would be much harder to do it that way. Noelle would have to pick between graverobbing to bring the item to the fountain, or bringing the fountain to the item. In her grief she might also consider it a kindness to ensure that she also includes the other buried monsters, so their families can see them again too.
This is an interesting theory. I'm inclined to say probably that positive vs. negative essence is not a thing, and essence merely involves the amount of attention and emphasis, good OR bad, put by people into an object. Jevil had a lot of essence because the Joker card is _significant._ Either it is the most powerful card in a game and beats everything instantly, or it's useless and not treated differently. King is strong but not quite as strong because the Spades card suite is often the most decorative and serves as the face of a deck, but is still used as a regular card. Queen is strong because, as the shared laptop for the library, a lot of Lightners have used her over a long period of time, so she is significant to the Hometown community.
I truly like this theory but i think there are more thing that can explain why Jevil, Spamton , Queen and King are powerful starting with king he is mentioned to have rule with the other kings too it seem like they are also powerful i think this can be because in the real World they are conceptually powerful because they are see as kings idk if they have power in the light world game but the implications From them being kings may just be reflected in their dark wordl form just like the checker dog turning into a more powerful being by going into the end of the checkers board evolving, something similar goes to Jevil he is literally a card that by what i understand can copy whatever he wants its literally what you would see as a powerful being in a game even if he is discarted
Now Queen its expressed to be a important part of the computer he has relevance into the dark world thats the reason why she is so powerful its just a very important thing.
Now spamton is something weird the only powerful thing in her base form is the knowledge he has and thats thanks to mr Phone Guy whoever is that is also the person that help him get succesful he is being influenced by the power of whatever thing is The Man Behind The Phone then when he's business partner is leaaves he stops having that influence and now also that power but then another fount of influence helps him turn into a more powerful thing a discarted draw of a old robot that is the fusion of the hopes and dreams of someone that see that robot as something powerful great and strong is he's mind its just like create your own OC and then add magic so he can turn into something trully powerful in another world im actually surprised the robot was not a lightner maybe if mettaton enters the world it would have turned in the robot who knows
To resume i think what makes some darkners more powerful is the fact that they are percibed as important, relevant things or powerful things I definitely think the essence influence some thinks and also may gave them some power and personality but i think the perspective of how someone sees or percibes something its going to influence how powerful something is going to be a example i think its something like maybe a rock darkner would be more strong than a wood darkner but less strong than a iron darkner because that how it would be in reality Just as everything is twisted in a certain way, the hierarchy of power based on perception is also twisted along with the concepts giving creation to the dark worlds and how relevant they will turn to be whatever thing the light world thing turn into the dark world

This theory makes a lot of sense and also adds a bigger question to the spectrum if a darkner can become so powerful because of essence to the point where they can go to any dark world without turning into stone does that mean that some darkners can also leave the dark world as well? Hear me out ralsi in chapter 2 tell kris to go to the certain classroom to get the supplies needed to fix the dark when they revisited again how else would Ralsi have known that unless he's been there before and to top it off for some reason even though the dark world at the school and the library are not connected in any way Ralsi manages to come in the nick of time when Susie and kris first enter how else would he be able to do that unless he has the ability to because he's stronger than a normal darkener either way this theory makes a lot of sense when you think about it that way.

Remember the souls theory and how there may not be souls in these darkners until they are sent to a dark world and the fountain imbues them with a soul? Well, hear me out, but what if the essences have made tiny shards of souls that gain the strength to have the darkners live when they go into a dark world? Tell me what you guys think

Great theory! Don't have much to say other than that. There'll definitely be some proof it, as you say, Susie's influence will appear in Chapter 3.
The only thing I would say is that I don't think there was any guarantee Noelle and Berdly were already in the library when the Dark World was created. They left for the library right before Kris and Susie entered the Castle Town, so I guess it just depends on how much time passed while they were in a Dark World. But even if this isn't the case, it doesn't affect your theory very much, since you acknowledged Lightners can influence the Dark World after they've entered. Then again, their influence might just be from their Internet searches.

I know that deltarune isn't before or after undertale but i think that undertale looks a lot like a mix of deltarune light world and dark world, since it have all the characters of the light world but with magic. And we still don't know if the lightners can use magic outside the dark world.
Another theory that I found somewhere is that Ralsei is maybe made of Kris's memories of Azzy? Or maybe the Knight is Kris's bad memories or something? My thought is that the entire Dark World is probably a game within their world that they're role-playing, like DnD. Noelle was the first one in the Cyber World, which could mean that she influenced the other Lightners in the real world to base this new Dark World about her experiences. Queen also may have been Berdly, as Queen is very smart and avoids Berdly throughout the chapter. Berdly keeps chasing Queen around, which may represent his desire for power/intellegence/attention. (The role-play theory most complements your theory, as yes, the Lightners that are present do influence the Dark World.)
Essence just makes me think of souls, just core emotions like determination
I personally don’t think that chapter three will be focused on Susie because we already saw that in chapter 1 me and my sister have this little theory on the fact that Lancer is the embodiment of Susie’s little brother and King is more of the embodiment of bad parenting whether that be her aunt like in The Paper Trail or her actual parents.

Maybe King and Queen have multiple essences they are both a card and a computer things that many would have frequently used.
The flowers feel like the easy answer, and just feels too obvious. My guess is it will be something of asriels that kris is jealous over, or something from when toriel and asgore were together which is still in the house, does not see use and for which only experiences the negative energy from toriel. Something like a ring she isn't willing to throw out, or some other piece of jewelry, maybe a photo album or piece of media that reminds her of asgore.
It feels strange to say that negative energy comes from being "ignored". I'd think it would come from being regarded with hatred, actively DESPISED, not simply a lack of attention. Consider the dust bunnies in the old classroom; these become lowly Rabbicks. Shouldn't they be overloaded with the power of no one paying any attention to them?
I don't think this changes much though; most of the things you said had "a lot of negative energy" could plausibly be thought of as being hated, rather than ignored. Asgore's flowers are an easy call. Toriel didn't ignore them, she HATED them. The joker... that's a bit trickier to guess at. My best guess: someone regularly played with that deck of cards in some game where the joker was some horribly negative thing, and they were imbued with hatred from multiple players across many sessions. (for that matter, Jevil could've gained POSITIVE energy if the joker was used as a magnificent wild card in a game.)
My theory is that because the castle town dark fountain was the first dark fountain the darkners created from that fountain are much stronger then the others so strong that they can go to any dark world with no consequences happening to them.
Wait I also came to this on my own. I didn't realize the game doesn't flat out say it some where. Maybe I should do a new play through.
