If one is looking to save money and has the tool’s, ability and knowledge. Then $145 is not bad. But if you factor in the labor of your neighbor I think you are way over budget. Gordon’s labor at a low price of $50 an hour doesn’t makeup the difference. My solution after looking at the options was a Broken Anvil Metal Works grill guard. For $340 shipped I received a guard that’s heavier duty already powder coated and needed only 2 holes drilled and has the added protection of keeping debris from coming from underneath.
Good morning Reg. That is an excellent option. I had not heard of Broken Anvil but will check them out. Thanks - great info for folks! For reference the company is Broken Anvil Metalworks - www.brokenanvilmetalworks.com/ - they look to have some great looking 1/8" bolt-on inserts for the L and MX series Kubotas, as well as a few other tractor brands. Thanks again Reg!
Good Evening GP 😇 Outstanding Steel Worker At ( Steel Supermarkets ) 😇👌👍 I miss so much the team work that I had with Joe doing his steel projects 👍👌🧐Ho The Drummer In You Show Off ( flipping you spray Can in the air !!! ) 🎵👍😇 I realy like The Big Vice bench 💪👍😇 You are a great actor GP 🤣👍 Great discussion about all the advantage and consequences having or not having an Bush Gard 👍😇👌 OUTSTANDING SUPER GUY 👌😇👍I realy like that video GP Cheers 👍👍😇😇👌👌🍻🍻
When I was a tractor newbie, I owned a JD 3320. While cleaning up the "jungle" a branch went through the front of the tractor broke through the front of the tractor and barely missed the battery. My dealer repaired the front grill and then installed a grill guard. When the Kubotas were ordered, I had the dealer make and installed grill guards. They will save the tractor at some point. Watching Guy brings back memories of Jack Hardy welding and making things out of steel. Thank for the video.
Very nice looking guard Gord, I wish you had it on over at Husky Bob's. Many thanks to Guy for helping you with this project. Please don't add anymore "character" to your LX like Guy's.
Very nice bush gaurd Gord. You sure are fortunate to have a great neighborhood like Guy. His skills are invaluable for sure, you guys make a great taem.👍
You were so lucky that all you did was break the plastic grill. It could have been so much worse. Guy is an excellent fabricator, you are lucky to have him! But he is lucky to have you too when its time to cut split and stack firewood! Excellent video, Thanks GP! Cheers!!
Greetings Gord, Lee here, Guy did an awesome job on your guard. Great to have some peace of mind now when working the loader or grapple. You and your family keep well, later.
Nice looking brush guard GP! Wow, $40 for a can of Kabota orange spray paint! I think I would’ve gone the cheap route and used black. Guy is a skilled craftsmen and a very good neighbor! Have a good weekend everyone, from Northwestern Vermont.
How's she goin'? Bush guards are worth the money for sure. Guy is a craftsman and did a great job on this grill guard. Too bad you messed it up with the 'Orange' paint!! LOL Thanks for sharing this project!! Take care!!
Gord, what a great project. That grill guard looks really nice, well done! I too have one of these fine Kubota LX series tractors and like you, I purchased a grapple. The very first day I used the grapple, I realized that the parts behind the grill were at extreme danger of being compromised. I purchased a grill guard from 511. It went on super easy, 15 maybe 30 minutes. So with my new grill guard, I went to work. Within the first hour of using the grapple, being careful, learning how to use it without stressing the FEL, I did manage to take a tree limb into the grill guard tipping back a grapple load. It did not dent grill guard, but it did leave a good sized smudge of tree sap on it. I was thankful I put the grill guard on. I am always amazed at how clean your tractor looks. You must take it thru the GP outdoors tractor wash after each use. Do you do much paint touch up on your tractor implements as they always look new. How many hours do you have on your tractor now? Take care, keep making these great videos.
Good morning Craig! Happy to hear you got the guard on early and just in time. Justin makes some really nice guards. Honestly, I do my maintenance for sure, but I rarely ever wash it. LOL. I have about 300 hours on it now. The implements are holding up well so I have not had to touch them up at all yet. Enjoy your tractor and thanks for the comment Craig!
Good evening GP… That looks Great.. Thank you Guy for helping out Gord.. Guy sure has a lot off talents and knowledge… I must say I have never seen a angel square like that one.. Interesting… Thanks for sharing GP.. As always stay safe and always be kind.. Cheers
Hi Gord! That’s a truly amazing looking grill guard! Professional grade for sure. Kudos to Guy for lending his fabrication skills to the project. Thanks for sharing!
Great Job Guy and Gord !! That will be a great addition to the Kubota while doing ANY work with the tractor. You never know when something can and will grab ahold and hurt something. You do need a grill guard that will take a beating and Guy built a good one. Thanks for sharing with us and we all need to be a neighbor like Guy and remember him before he needs help, he may be to proud to ask when he needs a hand. You all stay safe up there and get ready for winter it will sneak in and catch up on what it has missed so far this season. Fred.
Good day Fred. So true. I am very fortunate and you are right - he never asks - I kind of have to force help on him sometimes. LOL. His wife always smiles about it. Have a great week and thanks for the kind comments!
Have a grapple and brush guard because of this channel. Brush guard has taken quite a few hits over the years, easily one of the best investments for the grapple, along with the 1,400lbs of ballast I’ve added. Lucky to have a neighbor as nice and skilled as Guy.
You certainly don’t have to sell me! I smashed in the grill of my last tractor and it was like $300-400 US. First thing I did when I bought my new 3046r was put on a brush guard and I’m sure happy I did!
Wow GP, that is one fancy custom bush guard! Well worth the time & way less expensive (& probably more sturdy) than OEM. At 39 (dollars or Canadian), I might have done with simple & less expensive outdoor black or some other color. Yikes, and I remember when orange tractors were the value brand compared to green. Those were the days.
Awesome job and awesome Guy.... When I got my Kioti CK4010, I fabricated a forestry roof and grill guard before I ever went to the bush. I had seen enough videos showing the damage and I knew it was not a matter of if but of when. Still wish I had a protection plate underneath .
GP, you're right on. The exact same thing happened to my Kubota a month ago. Pushed into a pile didn't see the limb pushing into the grill. I have the exact same damage you do Fortunately it did not damage the radiator. Ironically had the metal sitting in my garage to make a grill guard for over a year and never got around to it. You can bet I will be getting around to it now. Lol.Thanks for the video
Good to know , thanks, couldn’t find it anywhere, even NAPA didn’t have Kubota Orange, guy at a counter said, “if you find it, let me know, I need some too”
Great video GP. Your weather is just as nuts as ours is. 2 little snows and now there is nothing on the ground. Got the tractor out once and that turned out to be a waste of time for only about an inch. We would like some snow but not 5 or 6 feet. Have a great weekend and looking forward to your next video. Peace from west central Illinois
I fell a blonded Ash tree last Sunday and was thinking about you when I was cleaning up the top with the grapple. Need to get something on the front of my L3901. Great video as always GP.
That looks great very nice job by you and guy very smart great protection for the front of your tractor hey Gord you must have watched Paul and kathy short they have a UA-cam channel from Newfoundland they do a lot of mod’s for kubota tractors anyway thanks for sharing take care have a great weekend
That is a strong looking grill guard. I couldn't agree with you more Gord, about it. I haven't taken delivery yet on my LX-2610 and already shopping for a grill guard! I would make one myself, but don't have a welder ... at least yet.
Looking nice!!! Will be strong too! When you look at all the components that limb could have broken, that gives me vertigo! Lol! Everything gets crazy expensive when buying parts alone. Thanks!
Morning - he does - There are a few videos from the last couple winters on my channel homepage - some of him blowing snow and one or two where we walk through how his blower is connected and works. Cheers!

Great video Gord! I welded rolled expanded metal to the back of my grapple itself...much wider protection area and doesn't have a dimming effect on the headlights.
Awesome job Guy and GP. The guard looks great. I have been planning to put one on for a while then your video came out last month when you poked the hole through the plastic. I said that's a good reminder to get it done and today is a second reminder. I agree 100% with you on how important and how expensive it can get without the guard. I hear you on the price of the Kubota paint. I had bought grey and orange cans before Christmas and I was blown away at $30 a can. I usually buy the kubota orange at Home Hardware but they were out. Although, the Kubota paint seems to be a better quality paint. Have a great day and thanks for the reminder to get it done!
Love it Gord! Guy is a great fabricator. I used “Kubota orange” from tractor supply. Maybe not official Kubota paint but looks good, and MUCH cheaper. 🤣

The first option I'm buying when I order my tractor. Thanks!

Hello Gord
Nice job on guard with great neighbors

You too Kevin - thanks!
Hey neighbor, can you just weld this up for me? It'll only take a couple of minutes. Lucky you have a good neighbor.

Very nice looking guard Gord, I wish you had it on over at Husky Bob's. Many thanks to Guy for helping you with this project. Please don't add anymore "character" to your LX like Guy's.

Guy did very nice job on that guard.
Pass to guy good job on GP bush fabricator. Kubota paint must be made from gold !
Will do - Cheers!
Great Job. Appears Guy can build anything.
