After my new LS XR4150 with TB one lane cutter was delivered, it was instantly discovered that the factory grill guard was not compatible with the cutter. Luckily I can weld and fabricate. I made a new guard that is easily removable and has mesh screen that protects radiator from penetration way better.

I’d like to see a video on the hooks below that grille guard!

I can show them in an upcoming video. But they are simple weld on D-links that I welded to some plate steel, then bolted that to the frame. Pretty simple if you have a welder and a drill.

I need something like that on my Kioti, but I'm not a welder/fabricator.

If someone was to bring me their grille guard and asked me to make one, I probably wouldn't charge more than $100 or maybe even a case of beer for it. Ask around, see if a neighbor or friend can do it for you. A shop can certainly make it, but they would be more expensive.

great job I did the same thing to my JD 4210 when I got my grapples. but from experience I think you should have wrapped the expanded metal all the way down. remember branches will always find a way in. we just try to make it as difficult as we can for them. LOA

Thank you! I did consider wrapping the expanded metal under the guard. In fact, in the video when I'm tracing it out, you see me pause for a bit. I'm considering just that. The reason I didn't, was I was concerned about remounting the whole thing. I'd cover up access to the bolt holes.
I also considered making "wings" to protect the sides. But decided against it for better access to the battery and radiator under the hood.

I've been considering a solid plate across there, instead of any kind of mesh. Maybe plexi or lexan so the lights can shine through. Any sticks poking through there would thus be deflected, and not snagged. There's nearly a foot of space between the brush guard and the grill of the tractor. Something solid would be no impediment at all to airflow

Doug, before you do that take your flash light and a piece of plexi glass into the garage tonight turn the lights out and shine your flash light into it about the same distance your tractor lights will be. the reflection back will be very annoying. we tried that on some machinery and ended up removing it

@@shawnsullvan3217 Excellent point, and well-taken. I have work lights half-way up, and at the top of my cab. Expensive headlights on the hood are a bad idea anyway.

I would steer clear of a solid plate, is nothing else than for the reflection and lack of visibility. The mesh will stop the majority of anything coming though. Besides, on my tractor, the radiator (which is what I'm really trying to protect) is even further behind the grille, behind the battery. This just adds a bit more protection that wasn't previously there.

that might keep radiator from getting stopped up as fast

Honestly, I doubt it. The screens on the hood keep the bigger stuff from getting in. But what plugs up the radiator is dirt and dust. I dont think the new grille guard will do much to stop dust.

How close did the Safety Blue paint come to matching the LS paint?
