The design of the wheel cylinders was purposely done to trap air! The in/out for the fluid shares the same port and at the front, the port to one cylinder on each side is at the lowest point, perfect to trap air pockets - who thought that one through? Same as the brake light switch as you discovered, you could have pre-filled this first, ok, some would drip out, but it would help reduce the air pocket. At the factory the switch should have been mounted sideways or inverted - the way it is fitted is a clever design to trap air!
When I have bled the brakes I have primed the wheel cylinders first to give them a better chance, I also have bled with the drums off so the shoes move out, then with these extended, push each shoe back with the bleed nipple open, surprising how much more air is expelled. Also, cracking joints helps shift trapped pockets.
I modified a master cylinder cap to allow the Gunsons Ezibleed to be used, that helps force the air out.
    Needs patience!
    Thanks for sharing.

That old switch looked like Tony Robinson had dug it up 😂. Who doesn't love a Moggy? I don't know anyone who hates them which is some achievement for any car.
