Thank you for this reaction. Funny that people are not giving them credit they deserve. They are the most succesful female group in history, 13 Grammy awards winners, rule breakers, fighters for free speech, extremely talented musicians, gorgeous women and people are still holding grudge against them. This one is really poweful statement and really brave from women from Texas. They are a real deal in the world of music . Thank you for this reaction. There are not many.

I love the Chicks- love that they stand by their principles, "Not Ready to Make Nice" was a response to having been blacklisted, told to shut up, & threatened b/c they spoke out against GW Bush & the Iraq war. Their comeback from that was SO powerful & true to their values. This protest song, so many years later, reveals how their power & spirit haven't diminished over the years. They are still as relevant as ever- a force to be reckoned with and using their power to advocate for justice. A country group at heart, they vowed to never play the CMAs after the show took down the video of their performance with Beyonce (which was later restored after a big backlash). Their name even reflects their principles because they didn't want to be associated with the painful past & present of "Dixie", despite being proud Texans. They are self-reflective & want to lift up & be allies to those who continue to face relentless injustice in our society. Love their music, & love them.
The Chicks will go down in history as being an epic group. They will surpass all their critics. When the names get faster is heartbreaking every time.

Love y'all and I'm a subscriber but the power of this song and video is due to why it was written and the cultural references therein, such as Emma Gonzalez, Parkland, FL high school shooting survivor, Trump symbolically bowing to Putin in Helsinki, and very importantly, these ladies dropping the "dixie" from their stage name and framing this video to support BLM after the murder of George Floyd.
These women have always been bada$$. I am a 40 year old black woman and have loved and listened to them for over two decades.

Connection to Not Ready to Make Nice, too -- they included Iraq War protest scenes and signs in this video as a reference, I think, to what got them banned from country radio in 2003, to say they're still not sorry they took that stand, no matter what it cost them. They're not new to speaking out. You have to respect that level of integrity.

When they perform this live the video runs on giant video screens behind them. During the intro the screens have locations of mass shootings with the number of lives taken shown. So powerful.
