Thanks for the great reaction ☺️
As others have said, The Chicks faced significant backlash for opposing the Iraq war -- they and their families faced death threats, country radio wouldn't play their music (still won't, mostly), etc. -- but they took that anger and doubled-down, making socially relevant music and promoting causes they believe in. That's real artistic integrity to me, and this video pulls it all together -- LGBTQ rights, women's rights, Black Lives Matter, climate activism, school shootings -- all of it. No one is free until everyone is free.
This song is so powerful and didn't get the attention it should have.
Love the Chicks. Well behaved women seldom make history 💪💪💪
Amen
You should check out their song - I’m Not Ready To Make Nice . It’s a song they wrote after so many people turned against them . When they where over seas and said They where ashamed of President Bush being from Texas . Me being a Texas Girl yes I got upset cause we don’t put other Texans down in front of the world . We keep that here in our own back yard or we should . I still love love love my Chicks .
This is a great song. As you said, it's an anthem. I'm already seeing people in the comments who want to delegitimize the song or band or movement. Unfortunately for them, we know what we're about. We know where we stand. They can attack the artists or their history all they want but THEY SAID WHAT THEY SAID. Die mad about it.
I believe they play 12-13 instruments as a group. Their journey has been challenging, and they always spring back up, together, as the gifted group, they are.
Shit just get my emotions going. It gets me on the same level Rage Against the Machine, gets me. It reminds me of marching in Madison for LGBTQ, and in Chicago for BLM. Chicago got violent. Police were aggressive as fuck, then people wonder why we were even out there?
The Cicks are awesome. The most succesful female band ...and so cool!
Get ready for the haters. This group is formally (The Dixie Chick's) They have a interesting story. You should check out (not ready to make nice) it's a great song.
Dixie chicks are simply a mouthpiece for the looney left. They do NOT believe in equal rights for all...just special rights for some at the expense of others.
@Jay Hawk I see you have been infected by marxism. You should be quarantined. Forever.
I love The Chicks. They're not only super talented, but they're not afraid to stand up for what they believe in. Even at the expense of their careers. You should check out Not Ready To Make Nice. It's in response to backlash they received over a comment they made in regards to George Bush, who was president at the time.
Formally known as The Dixie Chicks, they have always been the brunt of controversy for bringing forth the truth. I have always been a huge fan of The Chicks and truly embrace their artistry. To paraphrase my queen, Madonna, " Art is to disturb the peace. So go out there and make great art!" Like Madonna, The Chicks make great art.
The Chicks has a long history of singing what they want. They are not afraid of anything.
The Chicks are awesome. In my opinion the best ever happening to them was the huge backlash from the country community after speaking out against George W Bush and the illegal second war in Iraq. They were literally cancelled from Country radio, people burned their albums and there were bomb threats for their concerts. This made a real change for the band and they came back better. Not ready to make nice - is the song that referred to this you should listen this
@@CBR250RMAN first of all your nickname is hilarious. Better for my taste, more outspoken and engaged with social events (BLM, gun law, etc)
If your opinion differs from mine, well I can’t be bothered, coz opinions are like arseholes everybody has got one, you know
@@CBR250RMAN so your parents named you patriot?? That is even more funny to me. And to the other crap I mentioned, your political and social views may be different then mine, that’s fine. And whether you think I am intellectual or dumb is highly unimportant to me, because you are unimportant to me. Like I said I can’t be bothered
I thought Home was pretty solid. To me that is where they hit their stride.
I was drinking out of a Dixie cup when I started watching this. 😝
ME TOO!!!🤣🤣🤣
Brenda packin heat cause she don't like mondays...a true story about a 16 year old girl that opened fire on an elementary school in 1979, her name was Brenda Spencer and she told the cops she did it because she like mondays, She is considered to be the first mass school shooter in the US....this is such a powerful song in so many ways. I also like the line "Print yourself a gun" No One should be able to use a 3D printer to get a gun so easily..so many things covered in this song...you will probably have to listen to it more than once to catch all of them...
Ugh, thanks for the backstory
The Chicks used to be called Dixie Chicks but they dropped Dixie in the heat of the racial movement because they stood with Black Lives Matter. I think this is the biggest power move they have every made.
Dixie Chicks was their name I liked their song I’m not ready to make nice
Saw them in person last night and they added the mass gun violence cities with the death count. Very powerful. Had a family of 3 women and the dad/husband get up in the middle and walk out. I’m assuming they were conservatives/republicans. Good riddance I say. The show was wonderful and did not disappoint in their stance on human rights❤❤❤
Man I been a fan of the Chicks for over 16 yrs!!! This song gives me chills!! When it came out I was going through a very trying time in my life and felt so alone to fight my war!! It gave me so much strength and I rose up and let people know my enemy know that I'm not one to fuck with anymore!!!
The flag upside down meaning America is in trouble is so beyond powerful
This song is absolutely an Anthem, and it's kind of for every group of people who regularly get screwed over so that's cool. 👍✌❤
I’ve been a huge fan of the Chicks (formerly known as the Dixie Chicks) for many, many years & they aren’t afraid to speak up for themselves & other issues which has caused many controversies. Basically... They don’t take any s**t & when it comes to expressing their opinions through their songs.... THEY DELIVER!!! One of their most well known songs regarding a very controversial issue is “Goodbye Earl”, about domestic violence & more recently, a song called “Gaslighter”, which tells the story of the very messy divorce & breakup of Natalie, certainly the most vocal of the trio. Peace love & best wishes to everyone on this channel.... From 🇦🇺Australia🇦🇺 ✌️😎✌️
@@CBR250RMAN I’m sure you’re opposed to cancel culture though.
@@CBR250RMAN So the pattern I’m seeing is that you generally regard people you disagree with as intellectually inferior. Interesting philosophy.
@@CBR250RMAN And once again, when confronted with someone you perceive as disagreeing with what you believe to be “truth”, you jump directly to the ad hominem. This is not a tactic widely employed by the intellectually secure.
Something to reflect on, or not. Enjoy your day. ✌️
@@CBR250RMAN Further reinforcement of my observation.
@@CBR250RMAN You served a fine purpose.
Not Ready to Make Nice is another song you should react to from the chicks....
Had to come back, because no one else reacts to this.
There’s 1 more but I can’t remember who. Search for a reaction to Ohio by CSNY, which Asia and BJ did a fantastic reaction to, they may come up with that.
You are so right. This is a dope ass song. I saw them in concert a few weeks ago they update the song to include school shootings and more police shootings. I cried through out the performance. But how do we turn that emotion into activism?
I would love to see your reaction to Garth Brooks "We shall be free". It's another extremely powerful song that shows a completely different side of country music.
When you both spoke about all lives matter... I agree 100%. It doesn’t matter to me where people are from or what language they speak, I always believe in treating people the way I would them to treat me. Some may disagree with me on that, but that’s just my opinion ✌️😁
The Chicks used to be known as the Dixie Chicks.. One of the most popular girl groups in history, or at least country music. They got blacklisted and banned from radio and performing after speaking out against George Bush at the start of the Iraq war when they were performing in London. Toby Keith, who became hugely successful on "patriotic country" that became popular at the time, bought the rights to their library and The Chicks don't make any money off the music they recorded earlier.
Great song and great anthem of so many things relevant today.
I have posted this on fb a few times. You're right. Our Anthem.
How is this the only song you guys have done by The Chicks!! They have so so many incredible songs! Their last album(where this song came from) came out right on the brink of the Pandemic so really didn't get any of the attention it should've gotten because there were some fantastic songs on there. But most importantly, they have 20+ years worth of amazing music before that! Highly recommend Not Ready To Make Nice, Goodbye Earle, and Travelling soldier!
I’ll support The Chicks until I die. They were absolutely treated like trash by country radio. The Chicks are STILL the top selling female country group of all time. And what are they doing.. still selling out arena’s without the help of radio.
The chicks really aren’t here to duck around. They destroyed their music carrier for over a decade speaking out against the war in Iraq. Then 9 years later released a song called not ready to make nice. After that when they came back on the scene they released a song called gaslighter.
Your reaction is everything!
Cowboy take me always shows there voice and there skills playing Instruments
Not Ready to Make Nice by The Chicks is another one you should listen to.
To absolutely no one's surprise, there's a bunch of butthurt whiners crying about this reaction 🤣 You two are great and so are The Chicks!
Watch ‘not ready to make nice’ by the same band.
They also know as the Dixie Chicks.
POWERFUL song.
I love this song. I wish it wasn’t so necessary 🥺💔
The Chicks were originally The Dixie Chicks. Their music was boycotted by radio stations after they spoke out about president Geo HW Bush while performing in England.
They removed the "Dixie" from their name because of the racist connotations.
But after this video? You could use a good laugh.
Go watch Goodbye Earl!
Bitches I’m number one I just want to say Asia and BJ I want you guys to have a wonderful wonderful day and recognize that I am the first comment ha ha Ha ha ha
And remember, we women take care of our men, our sons. We matter.
This song and video is so powerful, kudos to the chicks for doing this.
Great song!
Hey I just wanted to address something I heard in your video that I think you can do better. When taking about LGBT people it’s we don’t refer to sexuality as a preference or a lifestyle because when you think about it it’s neither. Preference implies a choice and lifestyle implies an inherent difference. At the end of the day love it love.
Well, it's LGBTQ

They used to be the Dixie Chicks but they spoke out against the war shortly after 9/11 and pissed off all their fans and totally ended their country music careers
Their album shot to platinum I wouldn’t say their careers ended by any means.
@@emcsquared8681 they may have reinvented their careers with with all the "WOKE" people but the fan base they lost cost them a lot of money and they left America for a time to get away from the death threats and pure hatred they had aimed at them. . .
@@savageg4594 which makes them even more awesome, when standing up for what’s right means more than money then they’re doing it right.
@@emcsquared8681 well we do live in America, so we are all able to have our own opinions.
@@savageg4594 yep, and they get to have theirs, I never said otherwise.
Roddy hovey is a troll.
🤣 you shouldn't have deleted your original comment. . . You're entitled to your opinion. I just wish that all the people who think the USA is so bad would leave and go find a place where their ideology is already in place.
@@savageg4594 I deleted out of respect for Asia and bj.
@@gingergamingchannel3160 totally understand I was getting ready to fire a few shots in your defense but, I didn't want to turn their channel into a war zone
@@savageg4594 it's a shame.
@@gingergamingchannel3160 no, you deleted because you went on against gays also, I’m not a troll I called you out on your bullshit racism and homophobia. You get to be a racist and homophobe, no one said you don’t get to be, but don’t get all butt hurt when you get called out on it.
One thing I really don't like about current activism and this "army of one" stuff is that it seems to be more about ego than actually caring about other people. Like how do some people act like they're marching for black rights, but then support burning down black-owned business and places of employment? Do they think people lives will get easier without a job or a close place to buy food? What about people without cars who cant just drive 10 miles to the next store? How does that affect the poor? What is the actual fallout of the yelling, looting, burning? I mean, the song is good but, I'm really soured on activism.
I understand what you're saying... I do. 100%. But I personally think the "army of one" means get off your ass and start fighting and don't wait for others to do it or for there to be a movement of 1000 before you "join in" and get sh*t done. Just my $.02. Peace.
It seems to be about ego? You're an imbecile.
Furthermore, if someone, specifically those who swore to protect and serve, was killing my son's and daughters, mother's and father's, I'd burn the fucking city to the ground.
I will always call them the Dixie chicks, "The Chicks" just sounds so dumb and I think most of us southerners would agree.
This southerner doesn't agree.
Sorry love you guys, but No chicks for me. Country fans burned their records and CD a long time ago.
Country music fans are mostly low IQed inbred imbeciles. They're still doing fine. Going to their concert this October, sold out, can't wait.
I’m so over them when the lead singer talked crap about America when she was in a foreign country I stopped listening to them and now that they took Dixie out of their name I really won’t ever listen to them again.
Multiple years later and you still have the facts twisted. You chose to miss out
Well, they didn't "talk crap about America." Idiot. They spoke up for American troops and the unnecessary war in Iraq that was over greed and oil disguised as a result of the attacks in 9/11 when it was Saudi Arabia who attacked us.
Why did you pick this !@#$ instead of going down the Led Zepp rabbit hole?
Who?
